The Port That Changed Hands Overnight
Al-Mokha was a coalition supply base yesterday. By Thursday afternoon, it was Houthi territory. Three Yemeni government sources told Reuters that the group had seized the Red Sea port city after pushing through the western coastal front.
The route opened in stages. First came the Khalid bin al-Walid military base in western Taiz. Then the Hawsh mountain range, the last fortified line before the coastal plain.
At dawn, reports placed Houthi forces 15 kilometers from Al-Mokha. Hours later, fighters were filmed moving through the city.
Reuters puts the Houthi advance at more than 2,500 square kilometers.
That is roughly seven Gaza Strips of territory lost while Saudi aircraft logged about 70 strikes across Yemen.
Air power delivered its usual press release. Ground forces delivered the port.
Al-Mokha is about 75 to 80 kilometers north of Bab el-Mandeb. The city’s port had supported forces aligned with Yemen’s Saudi-backed government.
Its fall gives the Houthis another stretch of Red Sea coast and a far better position near the chokepoint linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
About 12% of global oil and goods traffic moves through that waterway.
A Houthi official toured the captured area in an armored vehicle once supplied by the United Arab Emirates to its Yemeni allies. The coalition bought the equipment. The Houthis inherited the keys.
Saudi Arabia can still bomb the road. The Houthis now own the warehouse at the end of it.

Nine Planes, Zero Casualties
Jordan said Iran fired 20 ballistic missiles at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base. It said 18 were intercepted. It said the other two fell in open areas.
Then a U.S. report arrived with an inconvenient detail: nine American aircraft were damaged.
About eight F-15s took light damage. They have returned to service. An A-10 Thunderbolt took a hit and lost a wing.
The Warthog is built to survive punishment. It apparently also qualifies for the regional definition of “nothing happened.”
U.S. forces fired more than 30 Patriot interceptors to defend the base. No U.S. deaths were reported. The Pentagon has not publicly issued a detailed damage assessment.
Iran claimed a devastating strike. Jordan claimed a nearly perfect interception.
Both claims now share the runway with one F-15 squadron and an A-10 missing structural parts.
State television will have no trouble with the edit. “Nine damaged planes” becomes “nine destroyed planes” before the anchor reaches the weather.
America will call them repaired aircraft. Iran will call them NATO scrap.
The Patriot battery fired 30 times. Tehran still found the gap between “intercepted” and “unharmed.”

Diversification, Russian Edition
Turkey says it is diversifying fertilizer supplies. Ankara signed a memorandum with Russia to secure mineral fertilizers and raw materials.
The deal comes as access to urea and other inputs from Gulf producers has become harder. Diversification now means finding a second way to buy Russian molecules.
Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Yumaklı said the agreement would protect Turkish farmers from disruptions caused by wars and regional conflict.
Russian fertilizer exports to Turkey had already risen by more than 90% in 2025. Agricultural trade between the two countries grew nearly 30% in the first seven months of 2026.
Russia sells Turkey energy. Russia sells Turkey fertilizer. Russian tourists fill Turkish hotels. Rosatom is building the Akkuyu nuclear plant on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast.
Erdoğan calls the relationship historic. Moscow calls it business. Both descriptions are accurate enough to frighten anyone who hears “strategic autonomy” in Ankara.
Turkey is a NATO member. It buys air-defense systems from Russia. It mediates between Moscow and Kyiv. Now it turns to Russia for fertilizer because Gulf supply routes are under pressure.
Ankara has found a uniquely Turkish definition of independence: never depend on only one Russian supply chain.

The Pipeline That Makes the Map
The Houthis may have hit Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline. The evidence so far is heat signatures, a long smoke plume and social-media footage.
NASA’s FIRMS system detected eight thermal anomalies near the route southeast of Medina. It cannot identify what burned or who started the fire. Saudi Aramco has not confirmed a strike.
That uncertainty is part of the operation. The Houthis do not need to sever a 1,200-kilometer pipeline to cash in. They need traders, insurers and Saudi officials to spend the morning wondering whether the alternative to Hormuz is also on fire.
The pipeline runs from Abqaiq in the Eastern Province to Yanbu on the Red Sea. Its capacity is up to 7 million barrels per day. Saudi Arabia built it in the 1980s because the Iran-Iraq war made the Strait of Hormuz dangerous. The emergency bypass has now become the headline.
The Houthis also took Al-Mokha this week. That puts them closer to Bab el-Mandeb, the Red Sea exit used by tankers heading toward Yanbu.
Hormuz is under pressure. Bab el-Mandeb is within range. The desert pipeline may be burning, or may simply look burnable enough for the market.
This is not only a missile campaign. It is a marketing campaign aimed at every oil buyer on Earth.
Saudi Arabia spent decades building routes around danger. The Houthis are selling the simpler product: danger now delivers to every route.

The Coastline Evacuation Plan
The Saudi- and Emirati-backed forces did not lose Al-Mokha in a slow retreat. They emptied it. The Houthis took the Red Sea port on Thursday after government forces withdrew from Al-Mokha, Hays and Al-Wazi’iyah. The group also seized supply routes and positions that had held the western front together.
The collapse reached the roadblocks outside Aden. Emirati-backed units reportedly disarmed Saudi-backed fighters trying to enter the city.
A convoy linked to Yemen’s Saudi-backed defense minister was ambushed in Al-Dhale. Positions at Ras al-Arah were abandoned after heavy fire. Then missiles followed the retreat.
In the abandoned National Resistance Forces compound near Al-Mokha, the Houthis found Emirati-supplied armored Land Cruisers.
The departing fighters took light weapons and pickup trucks. They removed the keys. They disconnected the systems. A coalition that spent years importing armored vehicles had to evacuate like a rental company after closing time.
Saudi aircraft hit targets in Al-Mokha and its port. The Houthis fired missiles and suicide drones at retreating forces. At least one Saudi strike hit the city’s airport. The air force can still reach the battlefield. It cannot hold a checkpoint.
The Houthi claims are far larger: six districts, 5,400 square kilometers, 38 brigades broken, hundreds killed, wounded or captured, and nine Saudi aircraft downed. Those numbers remain unverified. What is verified is enough: Al-Mokha fell for the first time since 2017, and pro-government forces retreated toward Dhubab.
The coalition built a western-front army out of militias, foreign sponsors and armored Toyota fleets. The Houthis built an offensive. One side still has airstrikes. The other side has the coastline.

The Oil Insurance Premium
Before sunrise, satellite images suggested that Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline had been hit. Six fire hotspots appeared near the route from Abqaiq to Yanbu. Saudi Arabia has not confirmed an attack or damage to the line.
The pipeline carries up to 7 million barrels a day. It exists for one job: keep Saudi crude moving when Hormuz becomes a shooting gallery.
The market saw the images and paid attention. Brent moved from about $96 to more than $106 on Thursday. It briefly approached $110 on Friday.
It then fell more than 3% to roughly $104 after reports that Gulf states and Iran were working on a temporary arrangement for shipping through Hormuz.
That is the regional business model now. A smoke plume adds billions to the oil bill. A rumor of an Omani corridor gives part of it back. The pipeline may be damaged. The fear premium is already pumping at full capacity.
Qatar offers the crueler version. Its LNG exports have reportedly collapsed by 96% after an Iranian strike damaged the Ras Laffan complex.
The country that built the world’s largest LNG export operation is now reportedly negotiating long-term U.S. gas purchases. Repairs may take up to five years. Qatar spent decades selling the world gas. The war turned it into a customer with better branding.
The consequences do not stop at the Gulf. Higher energy costs feed into freight, food and consumer prices. Eilat loses traffic when Red Sea shipping becomes a target range. Egypt loses transit revenue when vessels avoid the Suez route.
Hormuz was supposed to be the vulnerable route. Yanbu was supposed to be the workaround. The Houthis may have turned both into financial instruments.

The Artificial Earthquake
Israel used 1,100 tons of explosives to erase Hezbollah tunnels beneath Lebanon’s Ali al-Taher ridge. The blast registered as a 4.1-magnitude tremor. The mountain shook because an army decided that a security zone needed its own seismic event.
The IDF says it destroyed more than two kilometers of tunnel routes. It says the complex held Iranian-made rockets, missiles and drones. It says it included anti-tank weapons, mines, command centers, weapons rooms and living quarters. The army calls it Hezbollah’s central command, control and combat infrastructure in the area.
Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir told Division 36 that the “Yellow Line” remains under full Israeli control. Defense Minister Israel Katz said the operation completed the security zone from the coast through the Beaufort area toward Mount Hermon. A security line that runs through another country is now presented as a household boundary.
Hezbollah’s supporters used an Army Radio report to build their counter-story. Fighters inside the ridge had allegedly rejected demands to surrender and raise white flags. The organization gets martyrs. Israel gets aerial photographs of a mountain turned into rubble. Both sides get footage. Lebanon gets the crater.
Israel says the explosion eliminated a strategic Iranian-built outpost. Hezbollah says its men did not surrender. The confirmed fact is simpler: 1,100 tons of explosives made a border policy audible to seismologists.

The Inspector Becomes a Target
The IAEA says it has lost contact with Iran’s nuclear program. Tehran’s answer is to accuse the agency of helping prepare the political and legal case for war.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Rafael Grossi had turned technical reporting into a chain from “political justification” to military aggression.
That is Tehran’s preferred inversion. Inspectors ask where the uranium is. Iran calls them accomplices to the bombing campaign. The watchdog becomes the arsonist because it carried a thermometer.
Trump has made the nuclear issue sound like an election-calendar problem. He said the United States has not attacked Iran “in full” because the midterms are approaching. He said the war could end before the vote.
Then he said it would end “right after” the election. He rejected the idea that it could last through his term.
Trump also said Iran would be treated differently if it had a nuclear weapon. That is the cleanest possible advertisement for getting one.
Washington wants Tehran to abandon the bomb. The president explains why the bomb changes the customer-service experience.
The IAEA Board has referred Iran to the U.N. Security Council over nuclear noncompliance. Iran is limiting inspection access.
The United States is threatening deeper strikes. Tehran says pressure will not make it surrender.
The nuclear file has stopped being a negotiation. It is now a race between enrichment capacity, bunker-busting bombs and the U.S. campaign schedule.

The Post-UK Sales Pitch
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are sending their leaders to Cardiff on Monday to sign a joint declaration for self-determination and future independence referendums. John Swinney, Rhun ap Iorwerth and Michelle O’Neill lead governments run by parties that want out of the United Kingdom. For the first time, all three devolved nations have pro-independence leaders at once.
Swinney says Westminster must prepare for a “post-UK future.” He added that Andy Burnham could be remembered as Britain’s final prime minister. It is a clean threat from a politician whose last independence referendum ended 55% to 45% for staying in the UK. The sequel still needs London’s permission.
Burnham briefly left the door open. He said a Scottish vote could follow a “clear consensus.” Downing Street then sent Swinney a letter to clarify that another referendum remains off limits. For Northern Ireland, Burnham says there is no majority support for a border poll.
Then Donald Trump arrived in Ireland and said a united Ireland would be “fantastic.” Asked about British objections, he gave the diplomatic equivalent of a loose screw: “Everyone says that, then things happen.” His administration’s traditional neutrality got traded for a soundbite before dessert.
The UK government says there will be no referendum. Trump says things happen. Three first ministers are meeting to plan the breakup anyway.
Britain’s constitutional model is now held together by procedure, polling and the hope that nobody finds a microphone.

NSA Launches Sweeping Restructuring Focused on AI, China And Cyber Threats 🚀
The National Security Agency is preparing for its most significant internal overhaul in at least a decade, as the intelligence agency moves to reshape its operations around artificial intelligence, China, cybersecurity and military support.
The restructuring is being driven by NSA Director Gen. Joshua M. Rudd and is expected to reorganize major elements of the agency’s headquarters at Fort Meade, Maryland.
Under the proposed structure, five new mission organizations would be established, focusing on artificial intelligence, China, cybersecurity, combat support and global intelligence. Each would be headed by a newly elevated mission director with broad authority over the organization’s work.
The changes reflect a growing shift in U.S. intelligence priorities. Artificial intelligence has rapidly become a central element of the competition between Washington and Beijing, while cyber operations remain a critical component of both national defense and modern warfare.
The plan would also give the agency a more centralized structure for addressing China, reflecting the country’s expanding importance across U.S. intelligence and national security operations.
One of the more consequential changes could involve leadership. Officials familiar with the plan said some senior positions could potentially be filled by candidates from outside the NSA, a move that could bring new expertise into an agency traditionally dependent on career intelligence personnel.
The proposed restructuring comes as the NSA faces pressure to adapt more quickly to emerging technologies and a changing strategic environment. Rather than organizing primarily around traditional intelligence functions, the new model would place greater emphasis on specific national-security missions.
Implementation is expected to begin this fall, with the agency aiming to have the new structure operating at full capacity by early 2027.
For the NSA, the overhaul represents more than an administrative reorganization. It signals an effort to redesign one of America’s most powerful intelligence institutions around the technologies, adversaries and battlefields that are increasingly defining the next era of national security.

The Apocalypse Roadshow 🎪
Anthropic’s Dario Amodei wants a global slowdown in artificial intelligence. OpenAI’s Sam Altman supports the alarm.
An Anthropic engineer quits and warns of systems that can hack anything, seize resources and outthink humans.
More than 1,300 researchers sign a letter about civilization-ending risk.
The message is terrifying. It is also excellent investor relations.
Anthropic and OpenAI are moving toward public-market events. In that setting, “we built a useful chatbot” is a weak sales pitch. “We are handling a technology that may outrun humanity” gives investors something better: a monopoly story.
The product is not software. The product is access to the only companies supposedly qualified to operate the machine safely.
The CEOs ask governments to slow everyone down. They do not ask governments to slow them down first. They want safety rules written around frontier models.
They want huge testing costs. They want licenses. They want controls that smaller rivals and open-source developers cannot afford.
Trump says he is not worried about extinction. Ted Cruz says he prefers American killer robots to Chinese ones. Washington argues about China while the labs build their valuation case.
The pitch has two slides. Slide one: A.I. could end civilization. Slide two: invest in the firms selling civilization’s seatbelt.
