The annual Christmas Hi-Tea reception of the Christian Federation of Malaysia was graciously hosted this year by the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur at the Church of the Holy Family in Kajang on December 17. This event is organised in collaboration with the Council of Churches Malaysia and the National Evangelical Christian Fellowships, with each taking turns hosting on a three-year rotation.
Approximately 360 invited guests, including notable figures such as the Minister of Transport of Malaysia, Anthony Loke, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia, Hannah Yeoh, the Member of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, Teresa Kok, the Member of Parliament for Bangi, Syahredzan Johan, as well as Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and heads of NGOs, attended the two-hour reception. The attendees were treated to a delectable spread of food and entertained by performances from the four major language apostolates, the Myanmar community, and Datuk Francissca Peter.

Life is full of challenges and crises. There are just too many factors beyond our control that can ensure that everything we want will work out as smoothly as we desire it to. What happens when things don’t go according to plan, when death, loss of job or financial security, relationship breakdown , illness, natural disasters, uncertainty of the future … strike. Many people cannot cope and just fall to pieces. In this session Gerard Koe talks about how to develop both spiritual and psychological resilience to be able to face any challenge that comes our way.

Is your heart ready to welcome Jesus wholeheartedly? In this final week of advent, let us share Christ love with the less fortunate and marginalised.

(Light the four candles on the Advent wreath)

Let us pray - Loving God, thank you for your gift of love revealed to us through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Guide us in readying our hearts for the Lord's arrival by loving others just as Christ loves us. Amen.

Today, let us pray for the children in our lives, a source of blessing. We also remember children suffering in the world, from abuse, war, sickness and poverty. We commend to the Lord children who have lost their lives due to illness, poor living conditions, negligence, miscarriage, abortion and many other ways.
