The Black Flags have returned, so it seems. Will this lead to the same justification for intervening in the region as it did the last time?
Important to remember that ISIS was not created in a lab, they were enabled to grow by various powers seeking non-unipolar interests, including the U.S. in the beginning but more so by Turkey in the end and of course it helped Israel's Clean Break Initiative. These divergent interests during the Syrian War even led to the current situation in which most of NATO has pulled out due to Turkey's heavy handed intervention in the war at the detriment to their allies. Turkey as a result, now holds a near-monopoly on Islamist factions in Syria. The main opposition to ISIS, especially in Iraq (PMF) greatly involved Resistance Axis forces. Remember that Iranian general killed in January 2020? Soleimani was integral in containing ISIS and his death, even if symbolically, has ushered in a return. 🤔 Now who benefits by his assasination, the return of ISIS and the countering of Iran/Resistance Axis, I (((wonder))). It also cannot be assumed this new generation fits into the same model as their classic period. Iraq wasn't exactly stable since the initial defeat of ISIS in 2017, in Syria, the focus shifted towards FSA and YPG conflicts in recent years. For the most part, American-Israeli objectives were achieved as well. They wanted to carve up Syria, meddle in the destabilisation of Iraq etc. Later on Assad remained, but removing Assad was mostly just an option, just as the original idea (((they))) had for Syria & Iraq was installing pro-Israel Hashemite kingdoms similar to Jordan. Even ISIS was a mere tool, the greater powers at large simply take advantage of what comes to them rather than wasting too much time and effort to invent these problems from scratch. When ISIS received support it mostly came from another variety of independent non-state actors, not really Mossad as rumoured, but men from states that should have been held more accountable, such as Saudi Arabia. There is even a Baathist to ISIS pipeline that occured after the regime change in Iraq. In any case, many might worry about a repeat of the 2015 migrant crisis. You can rest assured knowing that Israel & co can take advantage of this flare up and allow it to become so much worse than it has to be.

🇸🇾 🏴 Syria: ISIS attacks on Government forces aren't new - at least 20 were carried out in Aleppo, Idlib, Deir Ezzor and Daraa provinces between May and October.
However, the recent surge - marked by bolder, more frequent attacks and the release of official claims - represents a notable shift.
This change appears to be a response to the Interior Ministry's recent crackdown on ISIS cells, coinciding with the joining of the US-led Coalition.
Over the past 2 weeks, 4 attacks claimed in area of Greater Idlib (see map) killed 8 people - fighters, Police & Government personnel.
One attack involved an IED, while the other 3 were shootings along the M5 Highway.
