✅ Alleged abuse of toddlers at Little Buds Day Care (Capgemini campus, Bengaluru) has reignited concerns over crèche safety, regulation, and childcare standards.

📍 What is a Crèche?
✅ A childcare centre providing a safe, nurturing, and protective environment for children while parents are at work.
✅ Offers nutrition, hygiene, early learning, and age-appropriate care.

📍 Key Facts
✅ Covers children aged 6 months to 6 years.
✅ Mission Shakti (Palna Scheme) aims to establish 17,000 Anganwadi-cum-Crèches (AWCCs).
✅ Only women caregivers and helpers are to be appointed.
✅ Establishments with 50 or more workers must provide a crèche facility.

📍 Legal & Policy Framework

✅ National Minimum Standards & Protocol (2024)
✅ Issued by Ministry of Women & Child Development and Ministry of Labour & Employment.
✅ Prescribes minimum standards for infrastructure, safety, hygiene, staffing, and childcare.

✅ Labour Law Provisions
✅ Code on Social Security, 2020 and OSHWC Code, 2020 mandate crèche facilities in establishments employing 50 or more workers.
✅ Working mothers are entitled to four visits per day to the crèche, including breastfeeding, with travel time counted as paid working time.

📍 Key Safety Standards
✅ Ground-floor location with child-friendly infrastructure.
✅ Proper ventilation, drinking water, sanitation, and secure premises.
✅ Mandatory police verification, medical fitness, and background checks for caregivers.

✅ Promote shared crèche facilities for MSMEs through public support.

✅ Union Telecom Minister announced at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 curtain-raiser that 5G connectivity has reached around 50 crore people.

✅ India aims to connect 100 crore people to 5G by 2030 after reaching 50 crore users in just 2.5 years.
✅ India’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) will be set up in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

✅ India’s telecom sector now serves 1.33 billion mobile users, with data prices around ₹8/GB.
✅ The government is preparing for 6G through the Bharat 6G Alliance.
✅ Connectivity is being expanded through BharatNet, 5G FWA, and the PLI Scheme.
✅ India is investing in 6G, AI, Quantum Communications, Satellite Communications, and Semiconductors to move from Digital India to Intelligent India.
