🟢 Name meaning: Samarthak — “The Enabler” or “The Proponent”

📍 Strategic Significance
🟢 Supports the trial and evaluation of indigenous weapons, sensors and naval systems.
🟢 Enhances the Navy’s HADR and maritime support capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region.

📍 Prelims Pointers
🟢 MPV: A flexible platform for multiple roles such as trials, surveillance, patrolling and HADR.
🟢 HADR: Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.
🟢 IDDM: Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured — the most preferred procurement category under DAP 2020.
🟢 DAP 2020: Gives priority to indigenous design and manufacturing in defence procurement.
