📍 Early Bronze Age Shipwreck — Türkiye
🟢 An underwater shipwreck near Kekova Island, Antalya, Türkiye, is believed to be the world’s oldest known shipwreck.
🟢 Estimated age: 4,400–4,700 years (2700–2400 BCE), dating to the Early Bronze Age.
🟢 Discovered at approximately 30 metres depth in the Mediterranean Sea.
🟢 Archaeologists recovered 30+ ceramic storage jars (amphorae) and three stone anchors.
🟢 Research led by Hakan Öniz of Akdeniz University suggests the merchant vessel originated in the eastern Mediterranean and may have been bound for ancient Troy or Minoan Crete.
🟢 Recovered artefacts are planned for display at the Mediterranean Underwater Archaeology Museum in Antalya.

🔆 CONSTITUTIONAL & INSTITUTIONAL LINKAGES
🟢 Article 43: Promotion of cottage industries in rural areas.
🟢 Article 46: Promotion of educational and economic interests of weaker sections.

🟢 India Handloom Brand: Quality assurance for handloom products.
🟢 ONDC: Helps small sellers access buyers through an open digital commerce network.
🟢 PM-DAKSH: Skilling support for eligible disadvantaged groups.

🔆 CHALLENGES
🟢 Limited scale compared with India’s vast artisan workforce.
🟢 Lack of reported data on sales, repeat orders and income gains.
🟢 Marketplace commissions, return logistics and machine-made imitations can reduce profit margins.
🟢 Overlapping brands and schemes may dilute market recognition.
🟢 Long-term success requires consistent quality, design adaptation and lasting buyer relationships.

✍️ MAINS QUESTION (10 MARKS | 150 WORDS)
“For India’s traditional artisans, the binding constraint is market access rather than skill.” Examine this statement in the context of government initiatives using common branding and digital platforms to support artisans from marginalised communities.
