🔆 BIND Scheme (Broadcasting Infrastructure & Network Development)

📍 Why in Focus?
The Union Govt. proposed a new Akashvani Kendra in Ujjain under the BIND Scheme, launched in 2023 to strengthen public broadcasting.

📍 Key Highlights:
✅ A Central Sector Scheme implemented by Ministry of I&B via Prasar Bharati, running till 2025–26.
✅ AIR FM aims to cover 66% of geographical area & 80% of population.
✅ Focus areas: LWE-affected zones, borders, tribal belts & aspirational districts.
✅ 8 lakh DD set-top boxes to be distributed in remote areas.
✅ Expands DD Free Dish, upgrades studios to HD & digital standards.

📍 About Prasar Bharati:
✅ India’s autonomous broadcaster (Doordarshan + All India Radio).
✅ Established under Prasar Bharati Act, 1990.
✅ Mandate: inform, educate & entertain, promoting cultural integration.
✅ Chairman & Board appointments made by the President of India.
