Tata Motors Ltd has completed the acquisition of Italian truckmaker Iveco Group, marking a major step in the Indian commercial vehicle giant’s expansion into global markets and new product segments. The deal comes after a 15-month process that faced delays and resistance from some minority shareholders over the offer price.

The Tata Motors-Iveco deal brings together two commercial vehicle makers with a combined annual sales volume of more than 540,000 vehicles and revenue of over $25 billion.

The Indian government's proposed law shifts lab trials to a self-regulation model. The central government will now only require permission for "severe" experiments, allowing labs to internally approve "mild and moderate" procedures like inducing tumors or starvation on their own. 🏢🧪

PETA India and activists fiercely oppose this, warning it creates a loophole for companies to quietly resume banned cosmetics testing.

Alarmingly, labs could source animals from open markets, risking the capture of stray dogs, cats, and wild species for laboratory trials under vague justifications. 🐕

The rules also dilute welfare safeguards by removing mandatory lifelong rehabilitation. Furthermore, it suggests giving labs advance notice before inspections, making it easy for rogue facilities to hide cruelty. 🩹

ISRO changes its playbook for NVS-03 mission: The crucial fix after NVS-02 failure

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing to launch its navigation satellite NVS-03 aboard the GSLV-F18 rocket on October 30, but the mission carries an unusual engineering decision that has drawn attention across the space sector.

For the first time in its 51-year history of satellite launches, ISRO is preparing to fly a satellite with its pyrotechnic valves, or pyro valves, already open, according to senior officials part of the mission.

The move follows the failure of NVS-02, which became stranded in geosynchronous transfer orbit in January 2025 after a propulsion-system malfunction prevented it from reaching its designated orbit.

The decision is aimed at eliminating a specific failure mechanism that affected its predecessor.
