In a setback, the Indian Space Research Organisationโ€™s (Isro) mission to put the state-of-the art Geo Imaging Satellite (Gisat-1) failed early on Thursday morning. The Gisat-1 is officially named EOS-03 (earth observation satellite 03). This was the spaceโ€ฆ
A reminder how important GISAT-1A Satellite means to India's #NationalSecurity

Unlike conventional remote-sensing satellites operating in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) that pass over a specific area only once every few days, GISAT-1A is positioned in a Geostationary orbit above the Earth. This fixed vantage point enables high-frequency imaging over the same geographic expanse acting as a 'Eye in the Sky' for the country during Day Time Hours.

The satellite can capture full-disk images of the Indian Subcontinent every 30 minutes and focus on selected target areas every 5 minutes.

GISAT-2 will be a dedicated Satellite launched by ISRO for the Indian Navy to track the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) even during the Night with high Optical Sensors for Night Vision providing round the clock monitoring and surveillance of the region.

While there's no update about the launch of GISAT-2 yet. It will be a Advance version of GISAT-1A (which is a replacement Satellite of GISAT-1/EOS-3) which is dedicated for dual use Satellite ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ to look over the Indian Subcontinent Landmass during Daytime. #Space #ISRO

Expected orbit was 170x29000 km and achieved orbit with slight apogee gain was at 171x 31026 km

NVS-03 launch is next. Six more launches are planned in this financial year. Gaganyaan-G1 targeted in this calendar year.

Current vehicle (GSLV) capacity is 2250 kg to GTO. Not expected to improve further.

On TLP status: Completed design phase, realization phase to begin soon

EOS-05 expected mission life is 7 years confident it will perform for 9 years.

By 9 September orbit raising phase of EOS-05 will be done. After that the on-orbit checking will take a month. In two months it'll be fully operational.

On concerns related to SLC operations and management being handed over to pvt. sector

Concerns are genuine but we there to handhold them to make that program successful.

ISRO has clarified that media reports regarding its privatisation or diminished role are entirely baseless, affirming it remains India's principal agency for core scientific research and strategic space missions. Rather than privatising, space sector reforms aim to transfer mature production and launch operations to private industry to expand overall capacity.

Offloading routine capabilities enables ISRO to redirect its expertise toward frontier technologies, planetary exploration, the Bharatiya Antariksh Station by 2035, and crewed lunar missions under Space Vision 2047. #ISRO #Space

#ISRO lays foundation stone of its Advanced Radar Research Centre at Chandrapur, Assam ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Under Project NETRA, ISRO is building:

๐Ÿ“กAn indigenous phased array radar
๐ŸŽฏAble to detect objects as small as 10 cm
๐ŸŒWith a tracking range of up to 2,000 km
๐Ÿ—๏ธOn 124 acres at the old Chandrapur thermal power plant site
๐ŸŽ“With internships and training for Northeast students

Why does Space Situational Awareness matter?
Earth's orbit is getting crowded with satellites and debris. Even a 10 cm fragment can destroy a satellite. ISRO carried out 19 collision avoidance manoeuvres in 2021, up from just 3 in 2015.

Until now, India has relied on NORAD and other foreign sources for debris data. NETRA will give India its own eyes in the sky to protect its growing fleet of satellites.
A first-of-its-kind ISRO facility for the Northeast.

So far, the first stage of the GSLV-F18 vehicle has been stacked, with its launch expected to take place between October 15-20, 2026.

The mission is critical for NavIC. Right now only three satellites in the constellation are providing Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) services: IRNSS-1B and IRNSS-1I from the first generation, and NVS-01 from the second generation. Any satellite navigation system needs a bare minimum of four satellites to calculate a user's position on its own, which means NavIC currently cannot provide standalone navigation.

๐Ÿš€ #ISRO LEAPS TO RAPTOR-CLASS TECH FOR 2040 MOON MISSION!

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ISRO has unveiled its LOX-Methane engine roadmap for the Next Generation Launch Vehicle (NGLV). Advancing from the LM20-TD demonstrator, the agency is testing components for the LME1100 engine (70%+ 3D-printed) ahead of mid-2027 hot tests.

In a massive leap, ISRO quietly finalized the design for a 2400 kN Full-Flow Staged Combustion engineโ€”the elite, hyper-complex Raptor-class tech that even the US and China barely fly. This powerhouse will fuel India's heavy-lift rocket for the targeted 2040 crewed lunar landing! ๐ŸŒ•๐Ÿ”ฅ #Space
