Ahmedabad startup SatLeo Labs's TAPAS-1 thermal camera set for SpaceX launch 🔹 3-kg payload to fly on Falcon 9 on October 1 (today) 🔹 Will orbit 500 km, capture thermal images for urban heat, agriculture, disaster management 🔹 Mission life 3 years, 8 more…
Two more payloads from Hyderabad startups are heading to orbit on Falcon 9 mission Later today:

1️⃣ Dhruva Space (LEAP-2): This P-30 satellite bus mission, an international collaboration, carries France's Sodern HORUS star tracker for an in-orbit technology demonstration.

2️⃣ TakeMe2Space (MOI-1A): India's first-ever orbital computing satellite. Packed with Nvidia Orin NX chips (117 TOPS compute), it lets clients run AI models in space and only download the results. This serves as a quick-turnaround replacement for their MOI-1 satellite lost in January's ISRO launch failure. #Space

🚀 EtherealX has unveiled “The Anchorage,” a new 150-acre rocket-engine testing complex in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, located just 50 km from India's primary spaceport (SDSC SHAR).

The site's first operational section is a horizontal test facility for Pegasus, the company's 80 kN semi-cryogenic upper-stage engine.

Future expansions will include an 11-metre-deep flame trench, integration facilities, and infrastructure for the massive 1.2 MN Stallion booster engine.

Designed as a single consolidated hub, the facility aims to bring engine development, multi-stage hot-fire testing, and reusable launch vehicle (RLV) refurbishment under one private roof in India. #Space #Startups

🚀 India breaks into elite space tech!

Deep-tech startup QOSMIC has built and space-qualified the nation's first Fast Steering Mirror (FSM) in under a year.

This critical hardware acts like a cosmic sniper, keeping laser communication links perfectly locked across thousands of kilometers despite extreme movement.

By clearing rigorous launch-survival tests on the first try, QOSMIC makes India self-reliant in next-gen lasercomm hardware previously controlled by only two or three global suppliers. 🛰️⚡ #Space #Startups

ISRO’s Aditya-L1 and ESA’s Proba-3 Decode Early-Stage Solar Eruptions to Fortify Orbital Asset Defense

Scientists at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) have published the first joint study combining data from Aditya-L1’s VELC and ESA’s Proba-3 ASPIICS coronagraphs, decoding coronal mass ejections (CMEs) near their birthplace.

Complementary View: ASPIICS provided white-light imaging for CME structure, while VELC supplied spectroscopic data for plasma density and thermal energy.

Independent Agreement: Mass and thermal energy estimates matched across both instruments despite differing measurement techniques.

Next gen Space Situational Awareness

DRDO's IRDE is developing an ultra-wide field telescope array for tracking objects in orbit, with an industry partner building the optics under IRDE's design review.

▶️ Each system pairs four 250 mm off-axis reflective telescopes, f/1.64 with a field of view of at least 12 degrees and a dichroic split between visible-NIR and SWIR, with two 50 mm refractive telescopes covering 48 degrees or more.

▶️One prototype and one functional unit are planned, with delivery at 18 and 24 months from contract. A 250 mm aperture at f/1.64 across a 12 degree flat field is a demanding optical design, and it points to India building its own wide-area search layer for space surveillance.

ISRO changes its playbook for NVS-03 mission: The crucial fix after NVS-02 failure

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing to launch its navigation satellite NVS-03 aboard the GSLV-F18 rocket on October 30, but the mission carries an unusual engineering decision that has drawn attention across the space sector.

For the first time in its 51-year history of satellite launches, ISRO is preparing to fly a satellite with its pyrotechnic valves, or pyro valves, already open, according to senior officials part of the mission.

The move follows the failure of NVS-02, which became stranded in geosynchronous transfer orbit in January 2025 after a propulsion-system malfunction prevented it from reaching its designated orbit.

The decision is aimed at eliminating a specific failure mechanism that affected its predecessor.
