So far, the first stage of the GSLV-F18 vehicle has been stacked, with its launch expected to take place between October 15-20, 2026.

The mission is critical for NavIC. Right now only three satellites in the constellation are providing Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) services: IRNSS-1B and IRNSS-1I from the first generation, and NVS-01 from the second generation. Any satellite navigation system needs a bare minimum of four satellites to calculate a user's position on its own, which means NavIC currently cannot provide standalone navigation.

The Technology Development Board (TDB) has approved โ‚น63.84 crore in funding for Bengaluruโ€™s GalaxEye Space to build a high-resolution multisensor satellite. Part of a โ‚น247.69 crore project, this RDI Fund backing will take their technology to full operational deployment (TRL-6 to TRL-9).

The satellite features proprietary OptoSAR tech, combining Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical imaging. This allows for high-res, all-weather, day-and-night Earth observation through cloud cover, greatly boosting India's strategic surveillance and target tracking capabilities.

Indiaโ€™s first networked orbital data centre by Hyderabad startup TakeMe2Space is launching in 2028.

The Generation-2 satellites pack Nvidia GPUs, 1,500W of computing power, and 100 TB of storage to process data directly in orbit via optical links.

By computing data before sending it to Earth, founder Ronak Kumar Samantray notes the tech will slash ground station download costs from $2,000 down to just $20 for the exact same ROI. #Space #Startups

๐Ÿš€ EtherealX has unveiled โ€œThe Anchorage,โ€ a new 150-acre rocket-engine testing complex in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, located just 50 km from India's primary spaceport (SDSC SHAR).

The site's first operational section is a horizontal test facility for Pegasus, the company's 80 kN semi-cryogenic upper-stage engine.

Future expansions will include an 11-metre-deep flame trench, integration facilities, and infrastructure for the massive 1.2 MN Stallion booster engine.

Designed as a single consolidated hub, the facility aims to bring engine development, multi-stage hot-fire testing, and reusable launch vehicle (RLV) refurbishment under one private roof in India. #Space #Startups

๐Ÿš€ India breaks into elite space tech!

Deep-tech startup QOSMIC has built and space-qualified the nation's first Fast Steering Mirror (FSM) in under a year.

This critical hardware acts like a cosmic sniper, keeping laser communication links perfectly locked across thousands of kilometers despite extreme movement.

By clearing rigorous launch-survival tests on the first try, QOSMIC makes India self-reliant in next-gen lasercomm hardware previously controlled by only two or three global suppliers. ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธโšก #Space #Startups

Next gen Space Situational Awareness

DRDO's IRDE is developing an ultra-wide field telescope array for tracking objects in orbit, with an industry partner building the optics under IRDE's design review.

โ–ถ๏ธ Each system pairs four 250 mm off-axis reflective telescopes, f/1.64 with a field of view of at least 12 degrees and a dichroic split between visible-NIR and SWIR, with two 50 mm refractive telescopes covering 48 degrees or more.

โ–ถ๏ธOne prototype and one functional unit are planned, with delivery at 18 and 24 months from contract. A 250 mm aperture at f/1.64 across a 12 degree flat field is a demanding optical design, and it points to India building its own wide-area search layer for space surveillance.
