Leaked image shows €50m midfielder wearing Barcelona’s shirt after secret talks
Gremio midfielder Arthur was pictured wearing a Barcelona shirt after reportedly holding talks over a move to the Spanish club. The 21-year-old is considered as one of the brightest young prospects in Brazilian football and has been also been linked with Manchester United. But Barcelona are claimed to be leading the race for the midfielder and are keen to quickly conclude a deal before their rivals swoop in.According to Globo Esporte, Arthur’s agent Jorge Machado held talks with Barcelona’s representatives in Porto Alegre on Friday. And it was during that meeting where Arthur received a Barcelona shirt to wear. Standing to the midfielder’s right in the picture is Barca’s Brazil-based scout André Curry.Se viene Arthur (Gremio) al Barça, la nueva sensación de Brasil #fcblive http://pic.twitter.com/9YUdxrloRk— Albert Rogé (@albert_roge) December 1, 2017Barca, however, are set to pay a high price for the Brazilian. His current contract with Gremio expires in 2021, while he has a €50 million (£44.1m) buyout clause in his deal.Gremio have also insisted that they will not conclude a deal until the end of their Club World Cup campaign later this month.   Read more...

SD Eibar v FC Barcelona - La Liga SantanderPhoto by Cristian Trujillo/Quality Sport Images/Getty ImagesEven with the attention from some other big name clubs, Sergino Dest wants to stay with FC Barcelona.According to a report from Sport journalist Toni Juanmartí, several clubs have inquired about FC Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest of late — including Bayern Munich.Per Juanmarti, the Bavarians, Juventus, and and Arsenal have all made contact with FC Barcelona youngster in hopes of taking advantage of what could be a very iffy situation with the Catalan club:En las últimas semanas, Juventus, Arsenal y Bayern han intentado convencer a Sergiño Dest (conscientes de la situación inestable del Barça). "No me muevo; mi etapa aquí solo acaba de comenzar", la respuesta del lateral. El americano solo piensa en triunfar como azulgrana #fcblive pic.twitter.com/yWvOHVRaif— Toni Juanmartí (@tjuanmarti) May 30, 2021In recent weeks, Juventus, Arsenal and Bayern have tried to convince Sergiño Dest (aware of Barça’s unstable situation). “I’m not moving; my stage here has only just begun”, the response from the full-back. The American only thinks about succeeding as a Barça player #fcbliveBarcelona, of course, is a bit unstable financial and organizationally given all of the turmoil that the club has experienced lately. A presidential election, an uncertain future for Ronald Koeman, persistent rumors about Lionel Messi’s future, and years of being poorly run have caught up to FC Barcelona — but it does not appear that Dest is thinking about going anywhere, any time soon according to his quotes. In addition, Bayern Munich’s own poor financial status given the loss of revenue due to COVID-19, has the Bavarians shopping off of the discount rack this summer and not looking at a player like Dest, who would surely be an expensive purchase.

Real Sociedad v FC Barcelona - La Liga SantanderPhoto by David S. Bustamante/Soccrates/Getty ImagesThe latest saga to rock the transfer scene! With Bayern Munich looking for a new right-back, attention has once again been turned to American youngster Sergino Dest, who moved from Ajax to Barcelona last summer. The 20-year-old was intensely courted by the Bavarians in the last summer transfer window, only to choose a future in the Catalan capital alongside Leo Messi and Ronald Koeman.Since then, Barca have fallen into deep financial difficulties, while Bayern have had no luck finding a new RB on the market. According to Sport, the Catalan club might be willing to let Dest go if they receive a suitable offer. However, Barca want an outright sale, while Bayern Munich are looking for a loan. This news is however contradicted by some Spanish journalists who cover the club:Respecto a Sergiño Dest: calma total. No hay nada que distraiga al jugador. Tiene la confianza de Koeman. Quiere seguir. Va a seguir. #fcblive— Toni Juanmartí (@tjuanmarti) July 18, 2021No doubts regarding Sergiño Dest’s future. He has the trust & confidence of Ronald Koeman & neither does he want to leave Barcelona this summer.Fabrizio Romano says the same, although his information probably comes second-hand on this occasion:Despite rumours about negotiations/potential proposals, Sergiño Dest is not planning to leave Barcelona this summer. He wants to stay and he’s not considering any other option. #FCB #Barça— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 19, 2021So which one is the truth? Bayern are definitely looking for a right-back, that much is certain. Benjamin Pavard is considered too defensive to play the wing-back role that Bayern need, unlike his counterpart Alphonso Davies on the left. Known for his offensive prowess, Dest would be the perfect right-back for coach Nagelsmann. He was also extensively scouted and pursued by Bayern back when he was at Ajax, so he’s clearly on the club’s radar. However, it’s still unknown whether the two FCBs can ever come to a deal over the transfer of the young American. Given Barca’s desperate need to earn cash and Bayern’s need to save it, it’s looking very unlikely at the moment. Then again, the Philippe Coutinho transfer also looked unlikely at the time, but it ended up going through. It wouldn’t be out of the question for the two clubs to agree on a creative accounting solution. We’ll keep you updated as this story develops.

The former <a href="https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/">Liverpool</a> star remains a misfit on the Barcelona bench, with his massive transfer fee and wage requirements burning a hole in the Catalans’ pockets. The animosity between the two parties seems to be mutual at this point, given the scenes we saw on the Barca bench last night. If you’re a Bayern fan then you were probably watching Leipzig-BVB when all of this went down, so here’s a quick rundown of the reports we got, in their (somewhat) correct order. It all comes courtesy of reliable Barca accounts, because for some dumb reason, Spanish news sources don’t put everything up on their website. Ugh.[ <a href="https://twitter.com/esport3?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@esport3</a> ] | Coutinho refused to come in as a substitute and play. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/FCBlive?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#FCBlive</a>— BarçaTimes (@BarcaTimes) <a href="https://twitter.com/BarcaTimes/status/1457050178637160453?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 6, 2021</a>Ooh, that’s bad. If you click on the tweet and read the comments, you’ll see a lot of anger directed at the Brazilian. Just for context, this incident took place around the time that a bunch of players went down injured for Barcelona, most importantly their young striker Ansu Fati. Coutinho probably would’ve come on to replace him, had he been subbed.More information slowly started to trickle out from the scene of the incident:Journalists that were present at the match confirm that Coutinho refused to be subbed on today.

Barcelona ended up drawing that match 3-3, despite taking a 3-0 lead in the first half. Track down some goal highlights because they’re really funny (if you’re not a Barca fan, of course). They also got hammered by muscle injuries, which is a lot less nice. FCB fans can relate. As for this Coutinho incident, it’s clear that things are going very sour behind the scenes at Barca, and the Brazilian probably isn’t the only one to blame. Bayern fans will remember him as a professional and a hard worker, even if his performances weren’t exactly up to par. For him to show such a poor attitude kind of just speaks to the mess Barca has become, and what a gargantuan job Xavi has just walked into.As for the final consequences of the incident, looks like his…

The Uruguayan midfielder is growing increasingly discontented with his position at Real Madrid.I can’t see Bayern Munich doing this despite the — alleged — previous interest by the Bavarians in Valverde. Negotiations if there will be loan or a transfer, but he is very much out of #Barça #jijantesfc #fcblive #fcbarcelonaWhile Dest has not exactly lit the world on fire with FC Barcelona, he is still considered a good prospect. Should a move to Bayern Munich come to fruition, Dest would give Julian Nagelsmann a natural wing-back for the right flank — which would potentially allow the manager to move to his preferred back-three set-up.While an acquisition of Dest would not necessarily guarantee that Nagelsmann would make a tactical change, it would at least give the coach an option should he want to change things up occasionally.

FC Bayern München v Borussia Dortmund - BundesligaPhoto by Boris Streubel/Getty ImagesIt is a bit too early for FC Barcelona to think Lucas Hernandez is up for sale.According to Sport journalist Albert Roge, FC Barcelona “dreams” of signing Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez.Hernandez is said to have “great memories” of playing in La Liga and it seems as if Barca would like to capitalize on those fond feelings. Hernandez, of course, played Atlético Madrid before becoming Bayern Munich’s record-signing back in 2019:⚠️ En el Barça sueñan con el fichaje de Lucas Hernández, que reforzaría el lateral izquierdo y el central zurdo. He has a contract until 2024. The player has great memories of LaLiga. The big obstacle is the high starting price that Bayern will ask for @sport #fcbliveSport1’s Kerry Hau, however, is throwing some cold water on any notion that Bayern Munich would be immediately interested in selling Hernandez. What neither Hau, nor anyone else, can answer at this point is if Hernandez will want to move on when his contract expires in 2024. Should the player decide he would like to leave Bayern Munich, it would likely not come to light until next season, which would set the table for him to be sold in the summer of 2023.Again, though, it is all just speculation that Hernandez would even want to leave Bavaria at this point.
