FC Augsburg v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Sebastian Widmann/Getty Images Another one… Per a release from its club website, Bayern Munich announced that star attacker Jamal Musiala has a torn hamstring:FC Bayern will be without Jamal Musiala for the time being. Following a scan by the German record champions’ medical team, it’s been confirmed the 22-year-old attacker suffered a muscle tear in his left hamstring during the 3-1 win at FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Friday night. If you are wondering how long “the time being” might be, well, Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg might know: Bad news for FC Bayern: We‘ve been told Jamal #Musiala is expected to be out for up to eight weeks! He has suffered a structural muscle injury (muscle bundle tear) in his thigh. Musiala is hoping to be back towards the end of the season for a potential Champions League final and the Nations League Final Four. Of all the seasons where Bayern Munich has been ravaged by injuries, this one might be the most insane.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over FC Augsburg? Germany v Italy - UEFA Nations League Quarterfinal Leg Two Photo by Christof Koepsel/Getty Images The coveted No. 10 shirt has found a new owner. Jamal Musiala will wear the number 10 shirt for Bayern Munich from the following season.Following the departure of Leroy Sané, who wore the No. 10 for the past five years, it was only a matter of time before Bayern’s starboy got the coveted number. Now that Sané has moved to Galatasaray, Musiala will finally don the 10 shirt for the first time in his club career. He will thus be wearing the 10 for both club and country, for whom he got the number just before last year’s Euros.

Musiala will keep wearing his old No. 42 shirt for the rest of the Club World Cup, as number changes are not allowed during the tournament. It can be reasonably assumed that he will get his new number in the pre-season matches leading up to the 2025/26 season.Bayern’s No. 10 shirt has had some very notable players wear it over the years, including Uli Hoeneß and his nemesis (?) Lothar Matthäus. Perhaps the most legendary player to wear it was Arjen Robben, who wore the 10 for ten seasons and led Bayern to numerous accolades and trophies, including his partly self-orchestrated treble in 2013. Oddly enough, it was a loan signing who wore the shirt during the club’s second treble seven years later — Philippe Coutinho, remember him?Musiala’s new 10 flocking is now available for purchase at the club’s online shop.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen v FC Bayern München - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Round of 16 Second Leg Photo by Boris Streubel - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images We feel you, Phonzy, we really do. Bayern Munich and its fans were shocked beyond words when Jamal Musiala went down with a gruesome ankle injury in the Club World Cup quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain.The news also evidently shook Alphonso Davies to his core. The Canadian full back was streaming the game, as he does most Bayern games that he cannot play in, and his reaction was raw and real.Davies screamed “Oh my God, no!” while clutching his head, and then kept repeating “no” before being reduced into stunned silence. Take a look:Phonzy Reaction because Musiala is injured #FCBayern #musiala #PSGFCB pic.twitter.com/qoqMSatWvD— flo (@lolli_floo) July 5, 2025Davies himself is currently recovering from a horrible injury of his own, an ACL tear that will keep him out until around November. He knows the pain of such a terrible setback, and how it can impact not just the physical aspect of a player, but the mental aspect as well. Since the two are close friends as well, one can see how much worse Davies is feeling for Musiala.Musiala, meanwhile, will most likely be sidelined for at least four to five months. Optimistically speaking, he could make a comeback in November, if the first reports are to be believed, but as it was such a devastating injury, it needs to be monitored with extreme caution. This writer crosses his fingers tightly that both players make a timely and safe comeback.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s devastating 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup — and a reaction to the horrific injury sustained by Jamal Musiala?
