West Ham United v Leeds United - Premier League Photo by James Williamson - AMA/Getty Images Barring a newfound desire to spend a lot of money, Bayern Munich is scrambling for answers. According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the vision for Bayern Munich’s midfield transfer targets is clear, but the decision on who the club should pursue if extremely cloudy. Specifically, five names were discussed: Chelsea FC’s Mateo Kovačić, Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot, FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, and West Ham’s Declan Rice. Let’s take a look at where Bayern Munich stands with each player: • Kovačić: Tuchel sees him an option for #6 position, but bosses not convinced. Topic ‘not hot’• Verratti: was discussed but similar profile to Kimmich• Rabiot: problems with Tuchel - not an option • De Jong: Tuchel told the bosses he sees the Dutchman as an absolute reinforcement, but move unrealisticPlettenberg also stated that Rice has also been thoroughly discussed, but could be more expensive than Bayern Munich would like. Right now, Arsenal FC has the lead on Rice: Declan Rice is Thomas Tuchel’s ‘absolute desired target’ for the #6 position. Rice’s name was discussed between Tuchel and the bosses. The club has already contacted Rice’s agents/family. Nevertheless, all parties now consider a move ‘unrealistic’ due to the fee [Arsenal are offering £70m (€80m) for Rice. West Ham’s asking price is still unclear. News #Rice: He‘s one of the desired players of #Tuchel confirmed. Bayern bosses are als convinced that he’s the perfect defensive midfielder for Bayern.

➡️ There were talks with the players management
➡️ Tuchel is 100 % involved.

But: Bayern is aware of the fact that… pic.twitter.com/Ld6kDXN3L2— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) May 22, 2023So...what’s next? If those players are truly out of the mix, Bayern Munich might have to lower its standards or make a move to up its budget. Otherwise, the same core players, plus Konrad Laimer could comprise the midfield group for next season (is that a terrible thing, though?).

West Ham United v Leeds United - Premier League Photo by Nigel French/Sportsphoto/Allstar via Getty Images Bayern Munich might dip deep into its pockets for Declan Rice. According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich is not out of the running for expensive West Ham defensive midfielder Declan Rice.In fact, the Bavarians could actually pony up close to nine figures for the 24-year-old, but it would really come down to whether or not Rice would move to Germany. Bayern Munich’s squad planners and manager, Thomas Tuchel, see Rice as a good fit for what the club envisions moving forward for its midfield: News #Rice: Internally it is said that the poker has begun now! Tuchel and the bosses want him as reported and he’s one of the targets who’s top on the list.

➡️ Been told that Bayern could pay the price package demanded!

Important: It’s not advanced yet and it’s still unclear… pic.twitter.com/Z9que5Df9l— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) May 24, 2023A No. 6, Rice’s inclusion into Bayern Munich’s squad would necessitate the rumored move for Joshua Kimmich to play the No. 8. Given that Kimmich rarely leaves the field, this could certainly spark movement from Leon Goretzka and Ryan Gravenberch barring Tuchel turning toward a 4-3-3 or some other variation of a three-man midfield. In addition, with Konrad Laimer joining the side, plus a potential return of Marcel Sabitzer to Bavaria (though it is expected that he will be sold), the midfield depth could go from it present state of being scant to full-scale logjam in a matter of weeks. Can Bayern Munich convince Rice to that their money and spurn Arsenal FC? The England international might have some tough decisions to make.

Women’s Football Awards 2023 - Arrivals Photo by Kate Green/Getty Images Could Declan Rice be plotting a move to Bayern Munich? The dream signing for many Bayern Munich fans is West Ham defensive midfielder Declan Rice. Linked to Bayern Munich, Arsenal FC, Manchester City, and Newcastle United, Rice has undoubtedly seen the transfer rumors and appears to be having some fun with the situation. In a tweet from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, the reporter revealed that Bayern Munich has made contact with Rice’s family and also that manager Thomas Tuchel is pushing for him. In addition, Plettenberg embedded a TikTok video of Rice, who decided to break out a little German, which, of course, made some Bayern Munich fans start to clamor: Update #Rice: He‘s saying „Guten Morgen“ twice

Bayern was in contact with his family as Tuchel is still pushing for him. #TikTok https://t.co/b90peSEEjn@SkySportDE — Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) May 24, 2023Sport Bild reporters Christian Falk (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) also acknowledged Rice’s video, but stated that Bayern Munich is skeptical that they can get a deal done with West Ham: Declan Rice remains top of Bayern’s midfield list, higher than Rabiot, but with an asking price of €115m, the club is skeptical about the possibility of making the transfer happen. Rice has heard about Bayern’s interest, hence the ‘Guten Morgen’ video. The reality of the situation is that Rice is available, but his price is rising rapidly. The most recent reports indicate that West Ham now wants €115 million for Rice, which would probably take Bayern Munich out of the race for the 24-year-old.Want more thoughts on a potential acquisition of Declan Rice by Bayern Munich? Leicester City v West Ham United - Premier League Photo by Malcolm Couzens/Getty Images Could Bayern Munich get a deal done for Declan Rice? Without former CEO Oliver Kahn and ex-sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić controlling the squad planning for next season, Bayern Munich could be opening things up. According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel had a conversation with West Ham defensive midfielder Declan Rice. Both parties “appreciate each other” and the 24-year-old is “open” to a move abroad: ❗️News #Rice: There was a phone call with #Tuchel a few days ago! Been told it was a good talk. Both appreciate each other. Rice is open to join Bayern & Tuchel. FCB wants to intensify their efforts now. He’s still a transfer target.

But: Time is running as he could sign for Arsenal. @SkySportDEThis would certainly comes as a surprise as Arsenal is reportedly preparing an offer for Rice that could go as high as €120 million. Does Bayern Munich have the bankroll to compete with that — or can the club offer Rice enough in his paycheck and from a sporting perspective to push him to consider a German alternative. Manchester City and Newcastle United are also rumored to be in the mix for Rice. Stay tuned...

Arsenal FC v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Premier League Photo by Stuart MacFarlane/Arsenal FC via Getty Images What is going on with Bayern Munich? Earlier on Friday, a truly bizarre report broke out of Switzerland that indicated that Bayern Munich was going to swoop in and attempt to steal Arsenal FC midfielder Granit Xhaka away from Bayer Leverkusen.Xhaka’s pending transfer to Die Werkself has been expected for days now, but did Bayern Munich attempt a last-minute coup of the deal? Let’s see what Swiss outlet 4-4-2.ch had to say (as captured by @iMiaSanMia): According to Swiss portal @www442ch, Bayern are looking to hijack Leverkusen’s move for Granit Xhaka, offering the Swiss midfielder a 3-year deal with an option for another year. Bayern’s new squad planners appreciate Xhaka. The player’s priority, however, remains Leverkusen.Bayer Leverkusen might have been sweating that news a little but, Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg nixed the idea with a tweet of his own: News #Xhaka: Been told that Bayern is not hot at this stage. Internally no talks about him yet. Bayern is still working on #Rice!

➡️ Negotiations between Leverkusen and Arsenal are ongoing
➡️ Xhaka still focused on joining Bayer 04 at this stage. @SkySportDE pic.twitter.com/criM2kSvMa— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) June 2, 2023While that plays down Bayern Munich’s interest in Xhaka, it also probably makes some fans a little excited that the club is still working a deal for West Ham’s Declan Rice.

Fiorentina v West Ham - Europa Conference League Final Photo by Giuseppe Maffia/NurPhoto via Getty Images Is the signing of Declan Rice proving to be too difficult for the Bavarians? According to a report from Tz journalist Philipp Kessler, Bayern Munich are looking at ACF Fiorentina’s midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as an alternative to West Ham’s Declan Rice.Bayern Munich is planning for a major squad overhaul on key positions for the next season, following an agonizing title-clinching final Bundesliga game. There has been rumors of up to seven players being on Bayern’s selling list, while the team is also looking for new players to replace and reinforce the squad. Most notably, the Bavarians have been linked for weeks to West Ham midfielder Declan Rice. Nonetheless, Die Roten face serious competition for the player’s signature, with teams such as Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, and Manchester United all trying to get a deal done. This, added to the hefty sum that the Hammers expect and the tendency of British players to stay in the English Premier League, could prove too difficult for the Bavarians to complete the signing. #FCBayern @mano_bonke— Philipp Kessler (@kessler_philipp) June 8, 2023An alternative to Declan #Rice: FC Bayern officials are also looking at Sofyan #Amrabat of Florence. The Moroccan, who has drawn interest from FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Manchester United, among others, is on the Munich list for the No.6 position.Although not of the same talent and caliber, the Moroccan would be a far cheaper option, which would leave Bayern with enough money to reinforce other key areas of the squad.Want more info on the striker debate? Bayern Munich - Turbine Potsdam Photo by Sven Hoppe/picture alliance via Getty Images Bayern Munich might need a contingency plan. Bayern Munich is facing tough circumstances in its pursuit of West Ham defensive midfielder Declan Rice. No matter what recent reports you believe (positive or negative), things are not really on solid ground when it comes to the Bavarians eventually signing the 24-year-old. So...what happens if Bayern Munich cannot convince Rice to move to Germany? Well, reports on that subject are just as conflicting. Foot Mercato journalists Santi Aouna and Hanif Ben Berkane are reporting that Bayern Munich is in the mix for Fiorentina defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and will be competing with FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Tottenham Hotspur (as captured by @iMiaSanMia): Barcelona coach Xavi has already spoken to Sofyan Amrabat. Bayern, Atlético and Tottenham are also interested. The player’s preference is Barcelona. Fiorentina want €25-30m.Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg acknowledged that Bayern Munich was looking into Amrabat, but that nothing was imminent: News #Amrabat: He was offered to FC Bayern and the club bosses monitoring his situation now. They are valuating him as an interesting player. But understand he’s not a top transfer target at this stage. Bayern still focused on #Rice but a transfer of Rice is unlikely at this stage. First call Amrabat via @kessler_philipp (Tz journalist Philipp Kessler) @SkySportDESport1 journalist Kerry Hau is also not sure that Bayern Munich is interested in the 26-year-old Morocco international: There is no concrete alternative at the moment. According to SPORT1 information, the trail to Sofyan Amrabat is not hot, especially since the Florence star should prefer a move to Spain, where FC Barcelona in particular is interested.Should Bayern Munich fail to acquire Rice — and if Amrabat is keen to move to Spain — it will be very interesting to see who else the club might target for the No. 6 role. Empoli FC v Juventus - Serie A Photo by Daniele Badolato - Juventus FC/Juventus FC via Getty Images Bayern Munich still needs a striker. Bayern Munich officially bowed out out of the race for West Ham defensive midfielder Declan Rice on Tuesday and could now find potential pursuit of Juvenus striker Dušan Vlahović far more complicated than originally thought. According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Vlahović has drawn the interest of new Chelsea FC coach Mauricio Pochettino, who could be meeting soon with Juventus to start to work out a deal: ️ #Vlahovic, talks between #Chelsea and #Juventus is about to begin, as revealed yesterday. ✅

The club - without #UCL - needs to sell and already set his price tag: around €80m to let him go.

Pochettino wants the striker: evolving situation. ⚽ #Transfers https://t.co/kx2HZKNgcM pic.twitter.com/5hiqGvr5xC— Rudy Galetti (@RudyGaletti) June 14, 2023Vlahović, however, was just one of the attacking options that Bayern Munich has been rumored to be pursuing for the summer transfer window. Kolo Muani is said to be a favorite of Bayern Munich supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß and might be ready to leave Die Adler per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg: The main priority for the Bayern bosses is to find a striker now! #Rice was the hottest target for central midfield. But Bayern is out of the race for now as reported. Kolo Muani, one of the names that remains on Bayern‘s list. Instead, Frankfurt is not planning to extend his contract with a big salary increase - NOW. Frankfurt bosses will wait on further developments. His salary now: Less than €1.5m gross/year. Bayern Munich could start to feel the pressure of the summer transfer window as players start to ink deals with new teams. Will the Bavarians act quickly on Kolo Muani or will they play the long game in hopes of lowering the rumored €100 million asking fee of Eintracht Frankfurt?
