Kingsley Coman suffers potentially serious knee injury

But the celebrations turned to dread, as the fragile French attacker appeared to injure his ankle and knee after landing very awkwardly — a moment caught by photographer Lukasz Laskowsk (see above).Coman appeared to slip on the pitch and land very awkwardly with his left leg, rolling his ankle and hyperextending his knee in the process.Coman down. What does the future hold for Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso?

Donato/FC Bayern via Getty ImagesEven after making his way back from injury, Tolisso has hardly featured under Hansi Flick.Corentin Tolisso has had terrible injury luck during the past two seasons with Bayern Munich. After sustaining a cruciate ligament tear in match-week three last year, the French midfielder missed the rest of the season, only appearing as a late substitute in Bayern’s 3-0 win over RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal final at the end of May.This season, Tolisso has made a total of just 10 league appearances for Bayern, only 6 of which were starts. He did start in three of Bayern’s six Champions League group stage matches or Bayern’s first and second-round matches in the DFB-Pokal. His last start was at the end of November in Bayern’s 6-0 routing of Red Star Belgrade. Of course, he also suffered a minor calf problem for most of December that forced a brief spell on the sidelines, but the Frenchmen still would have hoped for more consistent minutes. After the 3-1 win over Mainz at the weekend, sporting director Hasan Salihamidizc was asked about Tolisso’s current standing with Hansi Flick. The midfielder had come on for a minute to replace Ivan Perisic. Just a week prior, he played 12 minutes at the end of Bayern’s 5-0 win over Schalke. Salihamidzic said it’s ultimately up to Flick whether Tolisso gets minutes or not:Rückrunden-Bilanz von #Tolisso: zwei Einsätze, 13 Minuten. #Salihamidzic sagt über d. I see him only train well, throw himself into it. The coach decides who plays in the end.”Too many options in midfield?Unfortunately for Tolisso, Flick has a plethora of options in midfield. He has shown a recent preference for the triple pivot of Joshua Kimmich, Thiago Alcantara, and Goretzka. Flick also made it clear that he plans on keeping Kimmich in the midfield instead of moving him back to right-back, as Benjamin Pavard has proven to be a consistent presence there.Tottenham Hotspur v Bayern Muenchen: Group B - UEFA Champions League Photo by TF-Images/Getty ImagesAt the moment, even Coutinho is struggling to find consistent minutes, as Ivan Perisic has started Bayern’s last two matches on Thomas Müller’s left flank, though Perisic could very well be relegated to the bench when both Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman…

The French international has been linked with a move away from Munich for the better part of the Rückrunde since he’s only made a total of 13 Bundesliga appearances after missing almost all of the 2018/2019 season due to his cruciate ligament tear.Inter Milan, Juventus, Arsenal, and Manchester United have all shown interest at one point or another in acquiring Tolisso, but now it looks as if Bayern’s front office has given him the green light to definitely leave if he wants to. RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi reported earlier that both Inter and Manchester United had expressed the most interest in shelling out at least €35m for Tolisso, whose contract runs through June 2022.Corentin #Tolisso a un bon de sortie du Bayern cet été. Of course, United has been without Paul Pogba for most of the season, and the winter transfer of Bruno Fernandes has helped them turn their fortunes around. Pogba’s future is uncertain and Ole Gunnar Solskjær may see Tolisso as an upgrade from Scott McTominay, Fred, and Nemanja Matic, whose contract expires next summer. Tolisso could prove to be a more than viable option for United, but his injury history will certainly come into question when representatives from both clubs sit down at the negotiating table.Manchester United have started discussions with the entourage of Bayern midfielder Corentin Tolisso.

Even when Tolisso is back fully fit and healthy, will he ever be able to string together consistent minutes under Hansi Flick? Thiago Alcantara is close to signing a contract extension, Leon Goretzka has been on fire since the Bundesliga’s restart, and Joshua Kimmich has been an absolute stalwart all season as the holding midfielder. Even Javi Martinez has said he’d be happy to see out the rest of his contract at Bayern, which expires next summer and he’s made three substitute appearances since the Bundesliga has restarted.Flick’s midfield essentially picks itself at this point and it’s hard to envision being able to keep Tolisso happy, assuming he’d be playing a bit part role. At this point, it would take an injury crisis in midfield to give him decent opportunities, which is a shame for someone of his quality. With…

Paris Saint-Germain v FC Bayern Munich - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final 3: Leg TwoPhoto by Matthias Hangst/Getty ImagesBarring a sale of valuable players, Bayern Munich will not be delving into the transfer waters for a big fish.Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic feels good about the team he has assembled. So good, in fact, that he does not expect any major transactions during this transfer window. In a recent interview with SPOX report Kerry Hau, Salihamidizic reiterated that Bayern Munich would not be involved in any high-stakes pursuits during the summer transfer window:„Wir sind bereits top aufgestellt und haben unsere Hausaufgaben früh erledigt.“

Spätestens nach den Worten von #Salihamidzic sollte klar sein: In Sachen Transfers passiert beim #FCBayern in diesem Sommer nur noch etwas, wenn Spieler wie #Tolisso oder #Coman verkauft werden.— Kerry Hau (@kerry_hau) July 1, 2021The latest after the words of #Salihamidzic It should be clear: When it comes to transfers, #FCBayern will only do something this summer if players like #Tolisso or #Coman are sold. The only caveat that Hau could ascertain from his conversation is that Salihamidzic’s stance would only change if the club sells players Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso. As of today, a sale of Coman — while possible — does not appear likely. As for Tolisso, his situation is unclear. The midfielder looks like he could be a strong candidate to leave, but rumors surrounding him have been silent over the last two weeks. Perhaps, activity on the Frenchman will spike once again now that Les Blues have been eliminated from the Euros.

FC Köln v FC Bayern München - BundesligaPhoto by Alex Gottschalk/DeFodi Images via Getty ImagesWill Bayern Munich bring back Corentin Tolisso? While many fans would like to see Bayern Munich reach an agreement on a contract extension with midfielder Corentin Tolisso, the club and the player are reportedly having a little trouble getting aligned on the best way to move forward.According to Sky report Florian Plettenberg, the club recognizes Tolisso’s talent, but talks have become complicated because the Frenchman has great demands:Update #Tolisso: Talks about a contract extension are still very complicated. Everyone is aware of his qualities when he’s totally fit. But he and his team around are demanding a lot. @SkySportsNews #FCBayern— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) January 19, 2022“Demanding a lot” could mean a variety of things. Tolisso is in his prime, so there is no doubt that he will want to be paid accordingly — regardless of whether he is a starter or not.Tolisso could also want Bayern Munich to commit to more years than they feel comfortable with. Given Tolisso’s long and storied injury history, Bayern Munich might be balking at a long-term agreement. Finally, Tolisso could want assurances for playing time — something that would be very hard for the club to agree to given the collective excellence of players like Thomas Müller. Joshua Kimmich, and Leon Goretzka.

After five years in Munich, the French midfielder returns to his former club on a free transfer after it had become clear Bayern did not have any plans on renewing his contract at the club.
