Hello darkness my old friend. <a href="https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/matthjis-de-ligt-aleja-del-barca-7469636">Barca out on De Ligt? (Sport)</a>Yesterday we covered how <a href="https://www.sbnation.com/soccer/epl/teams/manchester-united">Manchester United</a> was in the process of <a href="https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com/2019/5/27/18641216/bayern-munich-jerome-boateng-matthijs-de-ligt-bayer-leverkusen-kai-havertz-espanyol-mario-hermoso">stealing</a> Ajax center back Matthijs de Ligt away from FC <a href="https://www.sbnation.com/soccer/la-liga/teams/barcelona">Barcelona</a> and now more information has come into play about why a deal that once looked “thisclose” to being complete has fallen apart. According to Sport, Barca would have already signed De Ligt if it wasn’t for his meddling agent. Ajax’s excellent season saw Matthjis and his representative Mino Raiola’s financial ambitions skyrocket. The idea of taking advantage of their unbeatable line-up and the interest of numerous ‘greats’, such as Manchester United, was too attractive to give up the bid. After the drift in the negotiations, Barça is not willing to give up on its initial offer. Instead, it wants to convince De Ligt that its proposal is the best for the international ‘Oranje’, both for the style of play (the similarities to Ajax and the <a href="https://www.sbnation.com/soccer/fifa/teams/netherlands">Netherlands</a>), and for the fact that he would be following alongside his friend De Jong and meeting Leo Messi.De Ligt’s annual salary demands have allegedly risen to €14m annually, which Barca seems unwilling to pay — at least right now. Barça are not prepared to break the salary scale of the squad, in an already complicated balance due to the high salaries of their stars. Therefore, it will continue to negotiate with the player’s agent in an operation that has involved the president Josep Maria Bartomeu, who does not want to break the overall strategy for the management of the squad. Finally, RAC1 journalist Gerard Romero tweeted out this info, which seems to push the divide between De Ligt and Barca even further as Romero states that United and <a href="https://www.sbnation.com/soccer/bundesliga/teams/bayern-munich">Bayern Munich</a> have stepped into the lead to land the 19-year-old star. ☎️ DE LIGT.

Reports: Eric Choupo Moting set to join Bayern Munich — yes, actually!
RB Leipzig v Paris Saint-Germain F.C - UEFA Champions League Semi Final Photo by Manu Fernandez/Pool via Getty ImagesThis is not a joke. Choupo Moting looks like he will actually be moving to Bavaria!BFW ran an opinion piece yesterday, stating how Eric Choupo-Moting, the former PSG striker, should join Bayern Munich. Written with humour, the piece was purely an opinion piece and a personal wish. However, reports have come out today that states Bayern is not only interested in signing the player, but are on the verge of making it official.According to foot Mercato’s Saber Desfarges, the Hamburg-native is close to signing for the treble winners! Choupo-Moting is said to be in “advanced contact” with the German side.Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is close to sign with Bayern Munich.
Free agent, ex PSG striker in advanced contact with the last champions league winner. @telefoot_chaine #Mercato— Saber Desfarges (@SaberDesfa) October 4, 2020As mentioned in yesterday’s piece, the player could be a shrewd signing for the club. Firstly, he is a free agent and won’t require extraordinary wages. Furthermore, he is a consummate professional who is used to the Bundesliga atmosphere. As a result, Choupo-Moting would be a cheap signing that can provide experienced attacking depth. One thing is for sure: The Bayern board clearly draws inspiration from opinion pieces made by Bavarian Football Works.Read more...

CA Osasuna v FC Barcelona - La Liga SantanderPhoto by Juan Manuel Serrano Arce/Getty ImagesCould Bayern Munich finally get one of Brazzo’s transfer white whales? Before anyone starts throwing a parade, let’s absorb this situation a bit.Spanish journalist Gerard Romero is reporting that FC Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest is nearing a deal with Bayern Munich — and not Ajax as previous reports out of Spain have indicated.Dest, who was a primary transfer target of Bayern Munich before moving to FC Barcelona in 2020, could get a much needed change of scenery if this is true:⚠️ #MERCATO en https://t.co/vrsj4XOUJL: Dest sigue acercándose al Bayern de Munich. There is no deal with Ajax, yes with Bayern. Negotiations if there will be loan or a transfer, but he is very much out of #Barça #jijantesfc #fcblive #fcbarcelonaWhile Dest has not exactly lit the world on fire with FC Barcelona, he is still considered a good prospect. Should a move to Bayern Munich come to fruition, Dest would give Julian Nagelsmann a natural wing-back for the right flank — which would potentially allow the manager to move to his preferred back-three set-up.While an acquisition of Dest would not necessarily guarantee that Nagelsmann would make a tactical change, it would at least give the coach an option should he want to change things up occasionally.

FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - BundesligaPhoto by Sebastian Widmann/Getty ImagesPerhaps someone from his camp finally asked Kingsley Coman what he wanted to do.A report by French journalist Julian Maynard has shed some light on the status of Kingsley Coman’s contract negotiations with Bayern Munich — and things could be looking up for those hoping the Frenchman will remain in Bavaria. While many previous reports indicated Coman wanted to move on from Bayern Munich, it appears that the Frenchman either had a change of heart or someone from his camp is actually doing what the player wants to do.At various points over the past few months, Coman has been linked to Chelsea FC, Liverpool, Arsenal FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain. #Mercato— Julien Maynard (@JulienMaynard) January 6, 2022Discussions started a few months ago between Kingsley Coman and Bayern Munich are continuing (end of contract in 2023). While a departure was envisioned, the trend today is rather towards a long-term extension.
Paris is following its situation, but returning to France is not a priority in the player’s mind. This has to be perceived as positive news by Bayern Munich. The club has made it clear that it wants to retain Coman and now it looks like that pathway might finally be clear.

Ajax v Benfica - UEFA Champions LeaguePhoto by Soccrates/Getty ImagesCould Bayern Munich hit the daily double for Ajax players on the transfer market?According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich is making strides with its two Ajax transfer targets, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and right-back Noussair Mazraoui. The talks with Gravenberch seem much further along and it looks like personal terms could be in the final stages. The fee between the two teams, however, could still be an issue. There was a big gap between the two clubs as of a week ago:Bayern are really pushing on Ryan Gravenberch deal with Raiola as priority signing. Bayern are on it - they hope to sign Ryan as soon as possible. pic.twitter.com/EnqN4B4WfV— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) April 1, 2022As for Mazraoui, things are a little more complex. Per Romano, Mazraoui wants to join FC Barcelona, but — believe it or not — super-agent Mino Raiola could try to sway his client to potentially join Gravenberch with Bayern Munich:☎️La charla con Fabrizio, y algunos nombres propios.

If Bayern manages to complete the signing of Ryan Gravenberch, they have good chances of signing Mazraoui as well as a double deal with Raiola.Whatever the case, Bayern Munich appears to be competing hard for both players.

FC Bayern München v FC Barcelona: Group E - UEFA Champions LeaguePhoto by Pedro Salado/Quality Sport Images/Getty ImagesThe transfer fee is in in the neighborhood of what Bayern Munich might want, but will the Bavarians ultimately entertain it?According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, FC Barcelona has communicated with Pini Zahavi, the agent of Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, and told him what a deal for his client might look like.Per Romero, FC Barcelona told Zahavi that it could go as high as €30 million to €35 million for a transfer fee and that the club would be willing to offer the Poland international a two-year contract with an option for a third year:☎️NOTICIA @jijantesfc

They offer him a 2+1 contract and ask him to put pressure on him to get out #jijantesfc #mercatoIf true, it is hard to discern how this would affect anything at the moment for Lewandowski or Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich would likely want more money for a transfer fee and Lewandowski might want a guaranteed third year on his contract.Romero is also reporting that Lewandowski would take a pay cut to go to FC Barcelona, which is something that had been previously reported.Despite all of the noise emanating from Spain, it still appears that both Bayern Munich and Lewandowski want to work out a contract extension. As far the competition goes, FC Barcelona seems to be the only legitimate contender for Lewandowski at this time — and the Catalans are facing some difficult financial limitations.

TSG Hoffenheim v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Corbis via Getty Images When the smoke clears from this hiring, Max Eberl will me a marked man. According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich executive Max Eberl’s tenure with the club could be a short one if Vincent Kompany scuffles as the team’s head coach: Before Vincent #Kompany became a concrete option for FC Bayern, Uli Hoeneß advocated for Hansi #Flick again in the last days.➡️ However, Max Eberl made a clear statement internally. Not everyone liked it, but he prevailed as he trusts his idea with Kompany➡️ If Kompany becomes the new coach, Eberl’s future will already be closely tied to Kompany’s success. The long search for a coach faced internal criticism. Eberl, 100 % confidence in Kompany! @SkySportDEAs Bayern Munich embarked on a circus act of a coaching search with numerous failed attempts (aka rejections), it appears as if the Burnley boss will get the nod. The length of the search, plus the numerous ups and downs during the hiring process seem to have bothered the supervisory board — and that could mean trouble for Eberl. As for Kompany, journalist Sacha Tavolieri is expecting him to be formally announced as Bayern Munich’s next head coach next week with the two clubs finalizing a deal for roughly €15 million: Been told #FCBayern already working on Vincent Kompany’s communication next week. VfL Wolfsburg v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Sebastian El-Saqqa - firo sportphoto/Getty Images Is a move imminent for Bayern munich’s Kingsley Coman? Update — 8:20AM EDT: Coman ready for Saudi move per FalkAccording to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk, Kingsley Coman is “ready to move” to Saudi Arabia. Only the details of his salary remain to be worked out: ✅ As exclusively reported yesterday, Kingsley Coman (28) is ready to move to Saudi Arabia. The interested club is: Al-Hilal. Bayern want to sell Coman. One crucial question being discussed is the amount of the salary @BILD_Sport— Christian Falk (@cfbayern) August 27, 2024According to a report from France Football journalist Nabil Djellit, Liverpool FC might consider taking a run at Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman: Info: #Liverpool is interested in Kingsley #Coman to strengthen his offensive sector. #Mercato #BayernHowever, Coman’s resolve might be tested. The Saudis are coming back in a big way with a lucrative offer that could tempt Coman per L’Equipe (as captured by @iMiaSanMia): The Saudi club that made a lucrative offer for Kingsley Coman is Al Hilal. The player has not made a final decision yet about his future destination, even though he always wanted to play in the Premier League one day.Bayern have contacted several big European clubs to ‘test the waters’ and explore Kingsley Coman’s market, which wasn’t appreciated by the player. Coman initially didn’t have the intention of leaving Munich following the birth of his son. But that has changed a few days ago - Coman told people close to him that he made the decision to leave Bayern, even though he felt very comfortable in the Bavarian entourage.L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi confirmed that Bayern Munich and Al Hilal are in full agreement on a deal, but Coman has not made a final decision (via @iMiaSanMia). Bayern and Al Hilal have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Kingsley Coman. The player has not agreed to the move yet. Premier League offers could soon arrive.Abendzeitung journalists Maximilian Koch and Kilian Kreitmair captured a statement from Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen on Coman’s status. “You can imagine that I will not comment on current rumours in the last days of the transfer window. That is not appropriate towards the players and it introduces unnecessary speculation,” Dreesen said. Fabrizio Romano checked in with his version of how things are unfolding: Al Hilal have submitted an important, huge bid to sign Kingsley Coman.

There’s competition from Premier League top clubs as well as Barça as Hansi Flick is an admirer.
