Organised as a collaborative initiative of 𝐂𝐎𝐋 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐀𝐀𝐂 with the 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐔, the workshop brought together policymakers, experts, and institutional representatives to deliberate on strengthening quality assurance frameworks in the online education.



Hon’ble Vice Chancellor 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐔𝐦𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐥 highlighted IGNOU’s continued implementation of the four-quadrant approach to online learning and university’s efforts to adopt the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics) approach to make digital learning more immersive and engaging. Discussions during the workshop focused on effective learning design, e-Learning Materials, faculty capacity building, learner support systems, and the role of emerging technologies in enhancing digital education.



𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐧, Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), during his special address highlighted the international perspective of quality assurance in online education. He noted that the collaborative project and institutional level capacity building would deliver desired results. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐭, President and CEO of the Commonwealth of Learning, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡, Director of the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐚 𝐙𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐝𝐚 from the Council on Higher Education, South Africa and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐡𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐢 𝐖𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞, Joint Secretary at the University Grants Commission were also part of the inaugural panel who addressed the esteemed Vice Chancellors and Directors of ODDE universities and centres of learning across India.



𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐢 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐨 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐧𝐮 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐥, 𝐈𝐀𝐒, 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 delivered the Chief Guest address. He said that the NEP 2020 is transformative and places strong emphasis on quality and innovation in higher education. He urged institutions to align their initiatives with the policy’s vision while strengthening quality parameters in online education. The deliberations during the two-day consultative workshop are expected to contribute significantly to developing robust quality assurance mechanisms and a comprehensive framework to strengthen online education across the country.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today organised a day-long national conclave, ‘Shiksha Sankalp: Celebrating 6 Years of NEP 2020’, at its Headquarters to commemorate six years of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The event brought together eminent academicians, policymakers, industry leaders and technology experts to deliberate on the transformative impact of NEP 2020 and its role in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.



The programme commenced with an exhibition titled ‘Showcasing Innovations for Viksit Bharat’, highlighting innovative projects and startups aligned with the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and a knowledge-driven economy. The inaugural session began with the University Kulgeet and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Welcoming the gathering, Prof. Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, Registrar, IGNOU, said that six years of NEP 2020 offer an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and collectively chart the way forward. He also highlighted IGNOU’s major initiatives in implementing NEP 2020 through flexible learning pathways, the Academic Bank of Credits, skill-based programmes and technology-enabled education.



Delivering the Chief Guest address, Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, Vice Chancellor, NIEPA, extended greetings on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima and reflected on the transformative journey of NEP 2020 over the past six years. Appreciating IGNOU as the “Jan Jan Ka Vishwavidyalaya,” Prof. Wanjari said its inclusive approach embodies the spirit of NEP 2020. She emphasized that while pedagogical innovation is essential, the aspiration of Viksit Bharat@2047 can only be realised through compassion, ethical values and a deep sense of social responsibility.



In her Presidential Address, Prof. Uma Kanjilal, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, said that the conclave had been meticulously designed to deliberate on all the major dimensions of NEP 2020, including Indian Knowledge Systems, skilling, Artificial Intelligence, entrepreneurship and digital public infrastructure. Prof. Kanjilal highlighted that IGNOU is making a significant contribution towards achieving the national target of 50 per cent Gross Enrolment Ratio by 2035 through expanded access to quality higher education, skill development and innovation. She expressed confidence that the deliberations would foster meaningful partnerships for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.



The vote of thanks for the inaugural session was delivered by Prof. Neera Kapoor, who expressed her sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, distinguished speakers, esteemed dignitaries, participants, and the august gathering for their valuable presence and insightful contributions, which set a meaningful tone for the deliberations under the 'Shiksha Sankalp' initiative.

The Russian delegation visiting the IGNOU headquarters comprised 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐤𝐨, Vice-Rector for Continuing Education; 𝐃𝐫. 𝐎𝐥𝐠𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚, Director, School of Management and Technology; and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐚, Director, Centre for International Educational Programmes. The visiting representatives shared an overview of their university’s academic priorities and discussed potential areas of collaboration with IGNOU.



𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐔𝐦𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐥, 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞-𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐫, 𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐔, welcomed the delegation and emphasised the university’s commitment to 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. She underscored the importance of forging meaningful 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 that promote academic exchange and create opportunities for cooperation in education and research. Six students of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), whose teams won a university-level hackathon, represented the University at the 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 (𝐃𝐒𝟐𝐒) 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐢, 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐦, showcasing their innovations and gaining international exposure.



Accompanied by their mentors, the teams visited the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐍𝐄𝐔) campus to present their project-based learning outcomes.



The conference also featured 𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐔 and 𝐁𝐇𝐔 as model central universities for integrating micro-credentials into India’s national digital learning ecosystem. During the discussions, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐏𝐞𝐦𝐚 𝐄𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐝𝐮𝐩, Director, International Division, and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐫, Director, Centre for Online Education (COE), highlighted IGNOU’s initiatives to expand flexible, industry-oriented, skill-based learning opportunities in alignment with 𝐍𝐄𝐏 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎.



The participation reflects IGNOU’s commitment to digital innovation, employability skills and global academic collaboration.
