The Foundation Stone of the IGNOU Regional Centre at Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj, Odisha was laid by Hon'ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu and Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 20th June 2026.
The occasion was graced by the august presence of Hon'ble Governor of Odisha Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon'ble Dy. The School of Humanities and Hindu Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), successfully organised a Special Lecture on the topic "Origin and Meaning of the Word 'Hindu'" on 6 July 2026.
The programme was chaired by Professor Uma Kanjilal, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU. In her presidential address, she underscored the importance of understanding Indian knowledge traditions in contemporary contexts and emphasised the need to promote academic discourse grounded in facts and rigorous research.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Nachiketa Tiwari, IIT Kanpur, who presented a detailed and thought-provoking lecture on the origin of the word 'Hindu', tracing its historical evolution, linguistic foundations, and cultural significance. He explored the subject from historical, philosophical, and literary perspectives, while advocating for a research-based understanding of the term.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Professor Smita Chaturvedi, Director, School of Humanities. Professor Kaushal Panwar (Kaushalya) proposed the vote of thanks, and the event was coordinated by Professor Devesh Kumar Mishra, Coordinator, Hindu Studies.
The lecture witnessed the participation of university faculty members, researchers, students, and distinguished academicians. An engaging question-and-answer session followed, providing participants with an opportunity for meaningful academic dialogue. The School of Humanities and Hindu Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), successfully organised a Special Lecture on the topic "Origin and Meaning of the Word 'Hindu'" on 6 July 2026.
The programme was chaired by Professor Uma Kanjilal, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU. In her presidential address, she underscored the importance of understanding Indian knowledge traditions in contemporary contexts and emphasised the need to promote academic discourse grounded in facts and rigorous research.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Nachiketa Tiwari, IIT Kanpur, who presented a detailed and thought-provoking lecture on the origin of the word 'Hindu', tracing its historical evolution, linguistic foundations, and cultural significance. He explored the subject from historical, philosophical, and literary perspectives, while advocating for a research-based understanding of the term.

The system incorporates features to safeguard the integrity of submitted documents, including the automatic insertion of relevant student and submission details on each page of the uploaded report.
