Agents,
After Hurricane Harvey impacted the Houston area, we received opinions from many Agents regarding whether or not the Anomaly there should proceed as planned.
We want to thank the Houston cross-faction POCs for their time, support and leadership in helping to create an event format that will benefit both our Agents and the city of Houston. Based on their guidance, the November 4th Anomaly will be altered as follows:
The event will begin with a Cluster Battle. While not weighted equivalently to other full scale Anomaly Sites, the outcome of this Phase will contribute towards the Anomaly series score, and Agents who participate in this Phase will earn the EXO5 Anomaly medal.
Following a short break, a service-oriented and community-focused Operation Clear Field (OCF) event will begin. The OCF Phase will not contribute points to the #EXO5 Anomaly series. Agents who participate in this Phase will earn the Operation Clear Field medal.
A Mission Day will follow on Sunday, as usual.
In addition, all proceeds from the sale of Houston Supporter Kits will be donated to Hurricane Harvey relief.
More details will follow in the coming weeks about service and donation opportunities at this event. See you in Houston, Agents!

Agents, thanks to your hard work compiling information from across the Portal network, our research is complete. We’ve discovered numerous Anomaly-like XM events -- many of which seem to share structural similarities to our past experiences with XM Anomalies. Further, the document we discovered yesterday has itself shed light on a near-term XM aberration. (see: http://nian.tc/2N)
In addition, we are monitoring chatter that Faction specific Safe Haven lodging will appear near these Anomaly Zones for the first time to shield Agents from unnecessary XM exposure. More info to come. #anomalyintel

Agents,
As our Ingress events draw near, the process and policy of selecting points of contact (POC) to assist Niantic has recently been revisited. Going forward, we will be reviewing POC nominations and reserve the right to refuse anyone for any reason. TOS violations will result in 12 month (Anomaly) and 6 month (other Ingress events) exclusion from being eligible for POC duties from the date NIA OPS took action against the Agent.
In addition, the members of our Vanguard program will be assisting Niantic in collecting the nomination information from the various communities and forwarding it on to be evaluated by NIA OPS.

During the Fukuoka After Party, new details about the Ingress Lore background for Anomalies in 2018 and 2019 were unveiled by the Niantic team.
In a conversation between Hank Johnson and Akira Tsukasa, we can hear that with the new generation of Ingress Events we, as playing Agents, will be able to rewrite the Ingress history in a brand new parallel universe: Ingress Prime!
Starting from Cassandra, we will create a new timeline for the Anomalies we lived in our current universe, going through Recursion, Darsana and Abaddon!
From Akira Tsukasa words: "The fate of that universe will be determined. The Enlightened or the Resistance will gain control of their destiny forever."

Agents,
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the date of the Chicago May 18th, 2019 Anomaly will be changing to May 25th, 2019. The proposed Anomaly faction POCs have been consulted and all parties are aware of this change. We recognize this is Memorial Day weekend in the United States and weighed the pros and cons heavily about this change before making the final decision. Please adjust your schedules accordingly and we’ll see you in Chicago!

#Anomaly #2020
[...] After Umbra, I felt we needed to change the anomaly series event format. Some of the features I missed were ways for more players to contribute to the anomaly other than remote recharging — off site; as well as an afterparty with official merch and opportunities to hang out with the Ingress team — on site. In a nut shell, if we're going to organize Niantic-hosted events, and if we're going to use Niantic-hosted events to help our team generate revenue, then they need to be worth it. Umbra didn't meet the quality experience I strived for.
For 2020, we're doubling down on scalable, competitive events that meet our goals to bring people together, and events where players in multiple regions across multiple dates can contribute scores to the overall anomaly total. We need some time to refine what shape these events might take, and we're currently playtesting battles for portal control, portal ornaments and volatile portals, captured mind units from connected cells via Regional Scores, and more.
Additionally, we're organizing a small number of Niantic-hosted events with an official afterparty, official merch, and opportunities to meet our Niantic team. The first of this Niantic-hosted event type will be in Munich, DE on May 9. H2 2020 Niantic-hosted events with official afterparty, official merch, etc. will be announced after we confirm venues.
Yes, there is currently one Niantic-hosted event scheduled for H1 2020, but there will also be additional flashpoint events — a new scalable, competitive event format (separate from the hexathlon) — that are designed to enable more players to participate together as a faction, and contribute to the anomaly series.
Finally, to repeat something I shared with our team: Events are core to Ingress; they make the game better. They're something I look forward to, they engage our most passionate fans, and they bring our community together. We want to enable even more scalable, competitive events in 2020, and on top of this, we're also going to organize several tentpole Niantic-hosted events in countries where we have the most Ingress players.
To many more adventures on foot with friends,
Brian Rose
