📢 Job Announcement: Field Safety & Security Officer
EVEREST MERL is seeking to recruit a Field Safety & Security Officer to join our team in the following Syrian governorates:
Damascus, Rural Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia, Tartous, Homs, Hama, Daraa, Quneitra, Sweida, Idlib
Number of vacancies: 1 officer per governorate
Employment type: Daily Worker
Reporting: This position reports to the Operations Manager

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement safety procedures and policies at project sites.
• Field supervision of teams and ensuring adherence to safety procedures.
• Monitor and assess risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Supervise and manage Sat Phones and GPS tracking devices, taking full responsibility for their operation and maintenance to ensure constant communication and team tracking.
• Build strong relationships with the local community to enhance collaboration and effective coordination with field teams.
• Conduct trainings and workshops for staff on occupational safety.
• Coordinate with local authorities to ensure staff and equipment safety.
• Effectively handle emergencies and crises and prepare response plans.
• Prepare regular reports on safety status and field operations for senior management.
• Utilize the latest technologies and tools to enhance safety and monitoring.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Proven work experience in safety (preferably in humanitarian or international organizations).
• Excellent experience in using Sat Phones and GPS tracking devices in challenging field environments.
• Strong team leadership and decision-making skills in critical situations.
• Good knowledge of occupational health and safety procedures and local labor laws.
• Ability to strategically plan and manage crises and emergencies.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with local and international stakeholders.
• Willingness to work in remote or challenging environments.
• Additional professional certifications in safety or first aid (preferred).
• Preference for candidates with HEAT (Hostile Environment Awareness Training) training.
