WEEK 2 β The Long Night & Watching (Oct 5β11)
8. October 8 (Thursday)
Dear Daughter,
Paul and Silas sang at midnight, in chains, with no promise the doors would open. The doors opened anyway.
Sing over your marriage in its hardest hour β not because you're certain of the outcome, but because worship changes the atmosphere regardless.
Midnight songs move mountains.
'At midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns' (Acts 16:25).
What midnight season in your marriage needs a song, not just a solution?

βChrist . . . will appear a second time . . . to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.β Hebrews 9:28
The fact that we *have been* saved (Eph. 2:8) and *are being* saved (1 Cor. 1:18) means that we are irrevocably united to the One who *will save* us from coming judgment.

Every day with Jesus, this is sweeter than the day before:
βYou have been borne by me from before your birth,
carried from the womb;
even to your old age I am he,
and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.β
Isaiah 46:3β4

Sometimes, God graciously chooses to use our foolish mistakes to bring about tremendous good in ways we couldβve never imagined.
Modern society pretends feminism and traditional Islam are natural allies. They aren't. Feminism rejects sex-based legal inequality; traditional Islamic law contains it. Calling them compatible may be fashionable right now, but repeating a contradiction doesn't resolve it.
πWeek 2: Financial Faithfulness and Generosity
βοΈ Q1 Commentary: The Accountable Servant
π― Correct Answer: A
β’ π The Scriptural Blueprint: Luke 16:10 (ESV) states, βOne who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.β
β’ π‘ The Theological Insight: Our Lord uses the stewardship of earthly wealth ("very little") as the supreme test of a person's spiritual character. From an expository standpoint, material possessions are not ours; they are loans from a Sovereign God designed to test our trustworthiness. True kingdom management evaluates a believer's heart based on how they handle the smallest earthly details before ever entrusting them with eternal, spiritual realities.
β’ β οΈ Strategy Breakdown: Options B and C utilize real text from verses 11 and 12, acting as adjacent traps for anyone scanning superficially.

ποΈ Q2 Commentary: Covenant Compliance and the Sovereign Window
π― Correct Answer: C
β’ π The Scriptural Blueprint: Malachi 3:10 (ESV) commands, βBring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts...β
β’ π‘ The Theological Insight: In sound doctrine, the "tithe" in Malachi must be understood historically as an Old Testament civic tax required to fund the government of Israel's unique theocracy and the Levitical priesthood. God's challenge to "test Him" was a rebuke against national unfaithfulness. It is a historical record of covenant discipline, completely distinct from modern prosperity fabrications that twist this text into a transactional equation for personal wealth multiplication.
β οΈ Strategy Breakdown: Option A used generic prophetic terminology to trap readers relying on general emotional impressions of repentance.

October 9: Judgment: Itβs Tricky
#Devotional
Ezekiel 19:1β20:49; Revelation 9:1β21; Job 34:31β37
Judgment is both a curse and a blessing. If you judge others, you might be judged yourselfβespecially if you judge them incorrectly. Yet if you know how to judge right from wrong, you can discern truth from fiction.
Although judgment can be a wretched thing, there is a time for it: When God has confirmed something in your heart, and the Bible verifies your view, you must stand up for it. When Jesus tells us not to judge, He is not declaring that we should be passive (see Matt 7:1β6; see also Matt 7:15β23, where He condemns false prophets and false followers). Instead, Jesus is saying that we should be careful about what we say and do, for we could be the one at fault.
Ezekiel also deals with the very fine line of judgment. Yahweh says to him, βWill you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man?β (Ezek 20:4). This question implies the very point Jesus makes: Is Ezekiel capable of dealing out judgment? Certainly not, but with the power of Yahweh, he can speak the truth. Yahweh goes on, βMake known to them the detestable things of their ancestorsβ (Ezek 20:4). He follows this with a commentary on βthe detestable thingsβ accompanied by a comparison to how Yahweh has treated His people despite their disobedience (Ezek 20:5β8).
Judgment is tricky, but fear of βgetting it wrongβ should not keep us quiet in the midst of misdeeds and misconduct. Instead, we must speak upβletβs just be sure that we first pray and examine our thoughts in light of the Bible.
What have you previously been quiet about that you should speak up against?

October 9 - Intimacy with the Father
#LifeOfChrist
βMeanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, βRabbi, eat.β But He said to them, βI have food to eat that you do not know about.β So the disciples were saying to one another, βNo one brought Him anything to eat, did he?β Jesus said to them, βMy food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His workββ (John 4:31β34).
The disciplesβ primary concern at this point had been food. Thatβs why they urged Jesus to eat. Jesus, however, had a higher priority, as His reply to them makes clear: βI have food to eat that you do not know about.β Like the Samaritan woman (4:11), the disciples misunderstood Jesusβ words and began saying doubtfully to one another, βNo one brought Him anything to eat, did he?β
Jesus took advantage of their confusion to teach them an important spiritual lesson. He said to them, βMy food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.β Doing Godβs will by proclaiming the truth to a lost sinner gave the Lord satisfaction and sustenance far surpassing what food could give Him.
Jesus frequently referred to the Father as the One who sent Him. His goal during His earthly ministry was to accomplish His work of salvation. Throughout His ministry, Jesus walked in perfect intimacy with His Father, living in complete accordance with the Fatherβs will until His cry of triumph from the crossββIt is finished!β (19:30)βmarked the accomplishment of His mission on earth. Submitting to the Father was Jesusβ constant devotion, consummate joy, and true sustenance.
Ask Yourself
How often does food come between you and sweet fellowship with your Father in heaven? In what ways does this legitimate appetite become a tyrannical force that overrules and overrides the greater necessity of daily dependence on God?

Jesus is either your rock of salvation or your stone of stumbling; your refuge of safety or your rock of offense.

βLet him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.β Isaiah 50:10
Darkness means I donβt know which way is home or which is over a cliff.
Trust me means the way he leads will be good and wise, either way.
