వల్లీప్రవాళనవపల్లవపాదపద్మం

కంజేక్షణం జలదనీలసరోరుహాభమ్ I

రామం నమామి మునిమానసరాజహంసమ్ ॥


తాత్పర్యం:

తీగవలె మృదువై, పగడమువలె చిగుళ్ళవంటి ఎర్రనైన పాదపద్మములు కలిగినట్టియు,

పద్మములవంటి నేత్రములు కలిగినట్టియు,

మేఘములవలె నల్లకలువలవలె ప్రకాశించుచున్నట్టియు,

స్త్రీల నేత్రములను మోహపెట్టు ప్రధానమంత్రమైనట్టియు,

మునుల మనస్సనెడి మానససరస్సునకు రాజహంసయైనట్టి రామునకు నమస్కరించుచున్నాను.

Rough translation:

there is no scope for argument or discussion, he is not a mere human, he is narayana himself, who left the serpent bed he was resting on and descended on earth as sri rama to destroy the demons.

వివాదము చాలు; ఇతడు మనుష్యుడు కాడు,

సాక్షాత్తు శ్రీమన్నారాయణమూర్తి,

శేషశయ్యను విడిచి రాక్షససంహారముకొఱకు శ్రీరామరూపమున భూమిని పొందెను.

lōkatrāṇānukārī daśavadana śiraḥpanktivicchēdakārī

Rough translation:

the one who protects the world by eradicating its suffering, one who beheaded the ten heads of ravana, one who wiped out the glory and grandeur of lanka, one who destroyed the pride of parashurama, one who decorated sita’s forehead with vermillion, one who adorns the precious jewel studded crown and holds the sacred bow kodanda, one who destroys the sins and reduces the burden of mother earth, i pray to such a lord sri rama to remove my sins and grant me peace.

శ్రీరామః పాపహారీ శమయతు దురితం భూమిభారాపహారీ ॥

లోకసంరక్షణము చేయునట్టియు,

రావణుని శిరస్సుల వరుసను తెగగొట్టినట్టియు,

లంకాపట్టణపు శోభను హరించినట్టియు,

పరశురాముని మనోగర్వమంతయు హరించినట్టియు,

సీతాదేవికి పాపటను దిద్దునట్టియు,
( ఆమెకు అలంకారము చేయుట ఒక విలాసము )

మాణిక్యకిరీటము కలిగినట్టియు,

ప్రశస్తధనస్సును బూనినట్టియు,

పాపమున హరించునట్టియు,

భూమిబరువును పోగొట్టినట్టువాడును అయిన

తాత్పర్యం:

బ్రహ్మ మొదలగు యోగులచే మునులచే పూజింపబడు మంత్రమును,

లేమిచేతనైన కష్టమును, సంసారరోగమును నశింపజేయు మంత్రమును,

సంసారసముద్రము దాటు ముఖ్యమంత్రమును,

గొప్పభయమును పోగొట్టు రామమంత్రమును నమస్కరించెదను.

Rough translation:

i offer my pranams to the raghurama mantra,
the mantra for accomplishment of knowledge and powers and worshipped by brahma, yogis and sages; the mantra that removes the sorrow and poverty due to the material world; the main mantra that helps us cross this ocean of samsara (endless cycle of birth and death); and the mantra that destroys all fears.

Rough translation:

o! tongue! go on chanting the sri rama mantra which grants victory and elevates our birth -,
the mantra that helps in conquering enemies (inner and outer), the mantra that is meaningful and worshipped in the sentences of the sacred scriptures (upanishads), the mantra that helps in crossing the ocean of samsara, the mantra which at the appropriate time removes all bondage, the mantra which bestows all treasures, the mantra which protects and cures all bad habits and vices which are poisonous like serpent '

శత్రువుల గొట్టు ముఖ్యమంత్రమును,

అన్ని ఐశ్వర్యములలో ముఖ్యమైన మంత్రమును,

i praise sri rama whose eyes are red (in anger) like the red lotus, who has the bowstring pulled back till his ear (ready to shoot), who has slain the king of rakshasas, ravana with the brahmaastra, and who seated on the chariot has shown great valor in the battlefield.

బ్రహ్మాస్త్రముచే సంహరింపబడిన రావణుడు కలిగినట్టియు,

రథమునెక్కినట్టియు,

యుద్దమున ధైర్యవంతుడైనట్టియు,

ఎర్రతామరవంటి నేత్రములు గలట్టియు అయిన

Rough translation:

sri rama’s powerful hands are described in this sloka.
the hands that destroyed the glory of the ten headed ravana as easily as demolishing a banana plantation,
the beautiful hands that are glowing with the vermillion from sita’s bosom,
the hands and shoulders that protect the universe similar to the wooden pillars fixed in earth before starting any fire worship by the sages - i pray such mighty hands of sri rama always protect me.

రావణుని కంఠములనెడి అరటితోటయొక్క శోభను తెగవేసినట్టియు,

సీతయొక్క స్తనములయందలి కుంకుమపు బురదచేత ఎర్రగా అలంకరింపబడినట్టియు,

ప్రపంచసంరక్షణమునకు కారణమైన యోగ్యకార్యము లనెడు యజ్ఞమున నారంభించు యూపస్తంభము లైనట్టివియు,

Rough translation:

i praise sri rama, who is adorned with shining gem studded jewels and seated with sita on his left thigh,
who is resplendent with a jewel studded glorious crown, his face as bright as the full moon,
who is seated on a brilliant throne studded with the nine gems, with sugriva, angada and hanuman in his service.

వామాంకోపరిసంస్థితావనిసుతా మాముక్తభూషోజ్జ్వలాం

ఆసీనం నవరత్నరాజితఖచితే సింహాసనే రాఘవం

సుగ్రీవాంగదలక్ష్మణానిలసుతై రాసేవ్యమానం భజే ॥


తాత్పర్యం:

ఉంచబడిన అలంకారములచే ప్రకాశించుచున్న ఎడమతొడపై నున్న సీతను చూచుచున్నట్టియు,

పూర్ణచంద్రునివంటి మొగము కలిగినట్టియు,

ప్రకాశించుచున్న కిరీటముచే శోభించుచున్నట్టియు,

నవరత్నములచే కూర్చబడిన సింహాసనముపై కూర్చుండినట్టియు,

సుగ్రీవాదులచే సేవింపబడుచున్నట్టియు అయిన

శ్రీరాముని సేవించుచున్నాను.

ॐ ఫాల్గుణ పౌర్ణమి - ఉత్తర
Phalguna Pournami- uttara

ఈరోజు అనేక దేవాలయాలలో దైవ కళ్యాణాలు జరుగుతూ ఉంటాయి.
వాల్మీకి రామాయణంలో కూడా సీతారామ కళ్యాణం ఉత్తర నక్షత్రంలోనే జరుపబడుతుందని పేర్కొనబడింది. అది ఫాల్గుణ పూర్ణిమ అని అన్వయిస్తారు.
సంతానప్రదుడైన భగప్రజాపతి ఉత్తర నక్షత్రమందున్నప్పుడు వివాహం చేయడం ప్రశస్తమని జనకుడు దశరథునితో చెబుతాడు.


మఖాహ్యద్య మహాబాహో తృతీయే దివసే ప్రభో I
ఫల్గుణ్యాముత్తరే రాజన్ తస్మిన్ వైవాహికం కురు ॥
- బాలకాండ 71/24
ఓ మహాబాహూ! ఓ (దశరథ) మహారాజా! నేడు మఖానక్షత్రము. నేటినుండి మూడవరోజున ఉత్తరఫల్గునీ నక్షత్రము. ఆనాడు వివాహము జరిపించుము.

Indeed the constellation Magha is in the asendant today. O mighty- armed king! On the third day, when the celebrated Uttara Phalguni (Uttara) mansion is in the ascendant, my lord, perform the wedding ceremony. Balakanda 71/24

ఉత్తరే దివసే బ్రహ్మన్ ఫల్గునీభ్యాం మనీషిణః I
వైవాహికం ప్రశంసంతి భగో యత్ర ప్రజాపతిః ॥
బాలకాండ 72/13

ఓ బ్రహ్మర్షీ! నేడు మఖానక్షత్రము. రేపు పూర్వఫల్గునీ (పుబ్బ) నక్షత్రము. ఎల్లుండి ఉత్తరఫల్గునీ (ఉత్తర) నక్షత్రము. సంతానప్రదుడైన భగప్రజాపతి 'ఉత్తర' నక్షత్రమునందున్నప్పుడు "వివాహము జరుపుట ప్రశస్తము" అని పెద్దలు చెబుతారు. Balakanda 72/13

The wise commend a wedding on the second of the following two days marked by the ascendency of the two lunar mansions bearing the name of Phalguni (viz. the Puurva Phalguni and the Uttara Phalguni), presided over by Prajapati the god presiding over the genitals.

విశేషం

శ్రీరాముడు జన్మించింది "పునర్వసు" నక్షత్రం. కళ్యాణమైనది "ఉత్తర"నక్షత్రమున్నరోజు. అది శ్రీరామునకు సాధన తార.
"రావణవధ" అనే ప్రధానమైనదాన్ని సాధించడానికి ఆరోజు పెళ్ళి చేసికొన్నాడు. "రావణవధ"కు కావలసిన ప్రధాన సహకారం "సీతాదేవి"నుంచే కదా!

మరి శ్రీరామనవమి - సీతారామ కళ్యాణం

అంతటా శ్రీరామ జననం అయినరోజునే సీతారామ కళ్యాణాలు జరుగుతాయి. దీనికి కారణం
1. "యస్యావతార దివసే తస్య కళ్యాణమాచరేత్" - - "అవతరించినరోజు ఆ దేవతకు కళ్యాణం చేయాలి" అనే పాంచరాత్రాగమ వచనం ప్రకారం, ప్రత్యేకంగా "శ్రీ సీతారామ" కళ్యాణాలు ఆరోజు చేస్తారు.
2. శ్రీరామ జననం అయినది శ్రీరామనవమి.

తతశ్చ ద్వాదశే మాసే చైత్రే నావమికే తిథౌ ॥
నక్షత్రేఽదితిదైవత్యే స్వోచ్చసంస్థేషు పంచసు I
గ్రహేషు కర్కటే లగ్నే వాక్పతావిందునా సహ ॥

(యజ్ఞము పూర్తయిన తరువాత) పన్నెండవ నెల అయిన
చైత్ర మాసములో,
శుక్ల నవమినాడు,
పునర్వసు నక్షత్రమున,
కర్కాటక లగ్నమందు,
ఐదు గ్రహములు ఉచ్చస్థితిలో ఉండగా
( సూర్యుడు - మేషరాశియందు,
అంగారకుడు - మకరరాశియందు,
గురుడు - కర్కాటక రాశియందు,
శుక్రుడు - మీనరాశియందు,
శని - తులారాశియందు ఉచ్చ స్థితులు),
కర్కాటక రాశియందు గురుచంద్రులు కలిసియుండగా,
కౌసల్య రాముని కన్నది.


Importance of today


Then on the ninth lunar day of the bright fortnight of Caitra, the twelth month after the conclusion of the sacrifices when the asterism Punarvasu (presided over by Aditi) was in the ascendant and as many as five planets ( viz. the Sun, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and Venus) happened to be exalted (appeared in the zodiacal signs of Mesa or Aries, Makara or Capricornus, Tula or Libra, Karkataka or Cancer and Mina or Pisces respectiely) and Jupiter in conjunction with the Moon appered in the Zodiacal sign of Karkataka, mother Kausalya gave birth to Raama.

ఇది గొప్పకాలం. లోకకళ్యాణం కొఱకై ఈ కళ్యాణాన్ని మనం చేస్తాం. కాలాన్ని సంవత్సరంతో కొలుస్తాం. కాబట్టి సంవత్సరమనే "ప్రమాణం (unit)"లో ప్రతీ సంవత్సరమూ ఈ కళ్యాణం మనం జరుపుకుంటాం.
శ్రీరాముడు జన్మించినప్పుడు ఐదు గ్రహాలూ ఉచ్చస్థితిలో ఉన్నప్పుడు, బృహస్పతి - చంద్రులు కలసి ఉండడం విశేషం. పరస్పరం పడని గ్రహాలైన ఈ రెండూ కలసి ఉండడం గమనించదగ్గది. విరుద్ధభావాలు సమసిపోతేనే శాంతి లభిస్తుంది. అటువంటి గొప్ప మూహూర్తం "శ్రీరామనవమి".

ఈరోజు కళ్యాణాలు

సంతానప్రదుడైన భగప్రజాపతి ఉత్తర నక్షత్రంతో ఉండడం కళ్యాణానికి విశేషమైంది.
ప్రకృతి - పరమాత్మలకు పుత్రులైన సకల మానవాళీ సుఖశాంతులతో జీవించాలంటే, ప్రకృతి - పరమాత్మల కలయికకు శ్రేష్ఠమైన ముహూర్తం ఇదే కదా!
సీతారామ కళ్యాణం జరిగిన ఈరోజు మనలోని "రావణుడు" సంహరింపబడే సాధనకి ఈరోజే మంచి ముహూర్తం కదా! మనలో ఉండే దైవశక్తి ఆ పని చేయిస్తుంది.

jānakyāḥ kamalāmalānjalipuṭē yāḥ padmarāgāyitā
nyastā rāghavamastakē tu vilasatkundaprasūnāyitāḥ|
srastāḥ śyāmalakāyakāntikalitā yā indranīlāyitāḥ
muktā stā śśubhadā bhavantu bhavatām śrīrāma vaivāhikāḥ||

Rough translation:

this sloka describes the pearls used as talambralu ( the rice poured over the head of the bride and bridegroom for luck) in the marriage of sri rama and sita.

the pearls used in the marriage of sri rama are auspicious and bring good fortunes,
when in sita’s palms which are reddish like lotus petals, the pure pearls resemble red topaz gems, when falling on rama’s head the pearls are like freshly bloomed jasmine flowers and when sliding from rama’s head onto his body, they resemble the blue sapphire gem because of rama’s dark complexion.

జానక్యాః కమలామలాంజలిపుటే యాః పద్మరాగాయితా

న్యస్తా రాఘవమస్తకే తు విలసత్కుందప్రసూనాయితాః I

స్రస్తాః శ్యామలకాయకాంతికలితా యా ఇంద్రనీలాయితాః

ముక్తా స్తా శ్శుభదా భవంతు భవతాం శ్రీరామవైవాహికాః ॥


తాత్పర్యం:

ఏ ముత్యములు సీతయొక్క పద్మములవలె నిర్మలమైన దోసిలియందు పద్మరాగమణులవలె ఉన్నవో
(ఆమె దోసిలి ఎఱుపు కనుక ఎర్రగా ఉన్నవి యనుట),

రాముని శిరమున ఉంచబడుచు మల్లెపువ్వులవలె ఉన్నవో
(దోసిలికి తలకు మధ్యమందు అంతరాళ సహజమైన తెలుపు కలవి యనుట),

జారుచు రాముని నల్లని దేహకాంతితో కూడినవై ఇంద్రనీలములవలె ఉన్నవో
(నల్లని దేహకాంతిచే నల్లగా ఉన్నవి అనుట),

అట్టి శ్రీరామవివాహమందలి తలంబ్రాల ముత్యములు మీకు శుభము నిచ్చునవి యగుగాక!

విశేషం

1. త్రిగుణాలూ - సృష్టి స్థితి లయాలు

సృష్టి రజో గుణంతో జరుగుతుంది. రజోగుణానికి ఎఱుపు రంగు (రజస్వల అయిందంటారు).
స్థితి సత్త్వ గుణంతో కాపాడబడుతుంది. సత్త్వగుణానికి తెలుపు రంగు.
లయం తమో గుణంతో అవుతుంది. తమోగుణానికి నీలం/నలుపు రంగు.

ఎఱుపు ప్రకృతి స్వరూపిణి సృష్టికీ,
తెలుపు స్వామి సృష్టిని కాపాడాలనే సంకల్పస్థితికీ,
నీలం స్వామి శారీరిక క్రియ (ఆయుధ శస్త్ర చికిత్స)గా లయానికీ సంకేతాలు.

2. ముత్యం - మనస్సు

స్వాతికార్తె చినుకులు ముత్యపుచిప్పలో పడితే ముత్యం అవుతుంది.

Nityam śrīrāma mantram nirupama madhikam nītisujṅāna mantram
Satyam śrīrāma mantram sadamalahrdayē sarvadārōgyamantram|
Stutyam śrīrāma mantram sulalitasumanassaukhyasoubhāgya mantram
Paṭhyam śrīrāma mantram pavanajavaradam pātu mām rāma mantram||

Rough translation:

i pray that the rama mantra, which is the root mantra that is unparalleled, omnipresent, omniscient, which bestows good morals, blesses good health to the ones who chant it with a pure heart, grants health and wealth to those who recite it with a clean mind and gives boons to hanuman who chants it; should always protect me.

నిత్యం శ్రీరామమంత్రం నిరుపమ మధికం నీతిసుజ్ఞానమంత్రం

స్తుత్యం శ్రీరామమంత్రం సులలితసుమనస్సౌఖ్యసౌభాగ్యమంత్రం

పఠ్యం శ్రీరామమంత్రం పవనజవరదం పాతు మాం రామమంత్రమ్ ॥

సామ్యము లేనిదీ, గొప్పదియైనట్టి,
నీతియు జ్ఞానమును కలిగినట్టి,
సత్యమైనట్టి,
ఎల్లప్పుడు ఆరోగ్యమునిచ్చునట్టి,
స్తోత్రము చేయదగినట్టి,
మంచిమనస్సుగలవారికి సౌఖ్యము ఐశ్వర్యము ఇచ్చునట్టి,
ఆంజనేయునకు వరములనిచ్చునట్టి
శ్రీరామమంత్రము నిత్యము నన్ను రక్షించుగాక!
