The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a Eurasian political, economic, and security bloc founded in 2001, has great potential to become a United Nations for the non-Western world, according to Robinder Sachdev, geopolitical and economic diplomacy analyst and founder president of the Imagindia Institute.

The two-day summit of the SCO foreign ministers kicked off on May 4 in the Indian state of Goa. The SCO foreign ministers are due to focus on the expansion of the organization.

Currently, the organization consists of eight permanent members, namely, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan; and nine dialogue partners – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turkiye, Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

US integrates Taiwan into biggest spy alliance in history

Tsai Ming-yen, director general of Taiwan's National Security Bureau, said the island exchanges real-time data with the Five Eyes Alliance (FVEY), which includes the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. According to him, the greatest danger is the information that Chinese President Xi Jinping is increasingly surrounding himself with like-minded people who support the idea of "1 country, 2 systems."

"They (FVEY) also share information with us. So we have a kind of cooperation with our international friends on China's military movements," said Tsai Ming-yen.

Soros-owned firm poised to buy Vice Media – WSJ
The reported $400 million deal will buy out all but one of the outlet’s major stockholders

Soros Fund Management, the principal asset manager of billionaire currency speculator George Soros’ Open Society Foundations, is poised to rescue floundering news outlet Vice Media from bankruptcy, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the deal.

Alongside hedge fund Fortress Investment Group, Soros’ company is reportedly in talks to purchase Vice for $400 million in a deal that would wipe out the stakes of other investors, including private equity firm TPG Group and News Corp scion James Murdoch.

Insider sources told the WSJ that Fortress would keep Vice’s current management in place while finding a role for co-founder Shane Smith, who is currently executive chairman of Vice Media.

The magazine, a woke establishment darling, is planning a bankruptcy sale as early as next week, the sources claimed, with other buyout offers deemed distinctly unlikely.

It’s a sharp change from just two months ago, when Vice was fielding multiple $400 million bids from prospective buyers, including media collectives Group Black and GoDigital. However, Vice’s lenders disapproved of the terms, which would have left them still holding some debt.

Soros and Fortress were part of a consortium that invested $250 million in Vice in 2019, a capital infusion aimed at turning around the company’s fortunes as it began to falter after being valued at a whopping $5.7 billion in 2017. Subsequent strategic shifts apparently didn’t solve its problems, however, and the New York Times reports that Vice is now worth “a tiny fraction of that.”

Russia & US On Verge Of ‘Open Armed Conflict’ – Moscow

After the recent drone incident at the Kremlin, which Moscow has called a US-backed attempt by Ukraine to assassinate President Vladimir Putin, the US and Russia are on the verge of a shooting war with each other, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has warned.

“We are working on preventing a fall of our relations with the US into the abyss of an open armed conflict,” he said in a TV interview on Friday. “We are already on the verge of this abyss.”

At the moment, “no real diplomacy” regarding the Ukraine conflict is possible between the two nations, because the US “has bet on further escalation. The US has long been a direct participant in the conflict and has long been waging an open hybrid war against my nation," Ryabkov added.

A day after the Republican Speaker of the US Lower House, the notorious "China hawk" Kevin Mc Carthy, met Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, President Sergio Mattarella and his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Fontana in Rome, Wang Lutong, head of the European Affairs Department of Beijing’s Foreign Ministry, travelled to Italy to discuss the renewal of the Belt and Road Initiative memorandum and arrange the Italian leaders’ visit to Beijing.
The Chinese diplomat met with Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli and several officials from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Talks centred on the countries’ partnership and the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella’s future visits to Beijing.

⚡️ Zakhar Prilepin, one of Russia's best-known writers and co-chairman of the political party " A Just Russia — For Truth", was targeted in a terrorist attack. His car was blown up in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

His driver, Alexander Shubin, from Lugansk, has died and Prilepin has been seriously injured. Prilepin's name is closely associated with Donbass, he volunteered there and raised funds, but also with the festival "Tradition" attended by Alexander Dugin and his daughter Daria Dugina before her murder in a similar attack.

The bomb in Prilepin's car was detonated via a GLONASS signal: The explosion took place while the car was being unloaded. Zakhar together with his driver and his daughter arrived this morning to stay with relatives. Many people knew that's where he'd be today. According to my information, the moment the car stopped and Zakhar's daughter got out, and most probably Zakhar himself got out as well, there was a powerful explosion. The driver was killed on the spot. The explosive device went off underneath the car. The criminals placed it there in the expectation that Zakhar would be in the front seat. But the bomb went off a few seconds later, when both Zakhar and their daughter got out. Zakhar's legs were seriously injured and they want to fly him to Moscow by helicopter.
Some believe the bomb was planted while the car was being serviced. And according to our source, the signal went through GLONASS. An operation is underway in Nizhny Novgorod to detain another possible suspect involved in the bombing of Prilepin's car, writes Baza.

According to sources, security officers are looking for a 33-year-old man who had rented a flat on the outskirts of Nizhny Novgorod the day before the assassination attempt on Zakhar Prilepin. He aroused suspicion because he is registered in the Kharkov Region (Ukraine).
