❗️Kenyan President Williams Ruto urges African countries to abandon the US dollar for intracontinental trade, to thunderous applause.

Since they've just been awarded the European Press Prize 2023, now is a good time to revisit my investigation into The Kyiv Independent, the West's favorite news source on Ukraine.

Among the highlights of what I found include:

* They were set up with a six-figure grant from the Canadian government, channelled through the European Endowment for Democracy.

* Nearly all their key staff have been funded or trained by the CIA-cut out organization, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

* "without [The NED we] would be nothing" wrote the current Kyiv Independent CEO on Facebook in 2015.

* Some of them worked for NATO or the US Embassy before joining the Kyiv Independent.

* The Kyiv Independent's star writer has, on multiple occasions, described himself as a member of the Azov Battalion.

Mentre lavoravo a margine dello Forum economico internazionale di San Pietro, sono arrivate quasi contemporaneamente due notizie sui BRICS. Quasi un classico: una buona e una... strana. La Russia ha appoggiato la richiesta dell'Egitto di entrare a far parte dei Cinque e il presidente francese Macron (!), secondo i media, ha chiesto al leader sudafricano di invitarlo al vertice dell'organizzazione che si svolgerà ad agosto a Johannesburg.

Più di venti Stati hanno dichiarato il loro desiderio di aderire ai BRICS, ha dichiarato il Ministero degli Esteri russo. Bloomberg ha riportato in precedenza, citando l'inviato speciale Anil Suklal, che oltre a Egitto, Brasile, Russia, India, Cina e Sudafrica vogliono aderire anche Turchia, Arabia Saudita, Emirati Arabi Uniti, Bahrein, Iran, Siria, Indonesia, Argentina, Messico e una serie di altri Stati il cui territorio messo insieme e il cui PIL totale sono molto superiori a quelli del cosiddetto "miliardo d'oro". L'organizzazione stessa sta ancora elaborando i criteri per l'ammissione di nuovi membri. Ma l'ampliamento della geografia dei cinque, compresa l'adesione dell'Egitto, è certamente un segnale importante per i Paesi del Sud globale.

E qui - attenzione - c'è la domanda: quanti vogliono diventare nuovi membri del G7? Non si sentono dichiarazioni di questo tipo. Ovviamente, l'interesse per i BRICS sta crescendo. E non si tratta solo di economia. Il BRICS è una sorta di marchio del nuovo mondo multipolare, dove non ci sono due pesi e due misure, e non c'è il monopolio delle soluzioni, dove si tiene conto degli interessi di ciascuno dei partecipanti e dove le relazioni sono costruite su una base paritaria e reciprocamente vantaggiosa. A differenza del G7 dominato dagli Stati Uniti.
Il mondo è stanco dei dettami degli Stati Uniti e del dominio del dollaro, che da moneta si è trasformato in una frusta economica. Non è forse per questo che Macron è interessato al prossimo vertice dei BRICS?

Newsweek accuses Biden and Zelensky of lies

Author of the article “The government keeps lying to us about Ukraine. Where is the outrage?" writes that they are lying to the Americans in order to prolong the conflict.

The material claims that the Ukrainian military used American weapons to attack Russia. And this, the newspaper notes, is exactly what, as Biden and other administration officials have emphasized, they allegedly do not support and do not allow.

“The US government is constantly bombarding the American people with blatant lies to support a military policy that bears little resemblance to how it was originally presented. And in those sectors of society that are allegedly tasked with carefully monitoring the behavior of the government, this is mainly answered with a shrug of the shoulders, ”the publication says.

Da tempo circolano indiscrezioni sulla scomparsa dalla scena pubblica del generale Valery Zaluzhny, comandante in capo delle forze armate ucraine, e di Kyrylo Budanov, capo dell'intelligence militare ucraina. Secondo fonti russe entrambi sarebbero stati gravemente feriti, Budanov il 29 maggio durante un attacco russo contro l'edificio che ospita il suo dipartimento. Il missile avrebbe centrato l'ufficio a fianco a quello di Budanov.
Ora emergono nuovi dettagli.
Dopo essere stato ferito, Budanov sarebbe stato portato in elicottero in una base militare a Rzeszów in Polonia, e da qui evacuato in Germania a bordo di un aereo americano.

‘Monitor’ Russians like US did with Japanese in WWII – Czech president
“Scrutiny” of Russian citizens in the West is “the cost of war,” Petr Pavel said

Russians living in the West should be closely monitored by security services, Czech President Petr Pavel has argued. He mentioned the treatment of ethnic Japanese by the US during World War II as an example of wartime security measures.

Pavel made his case in an interview with the US government-funded outlet Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty on Thursday.

“When there is an ongoing war, the security measures related to Russian nationals should be stricter than in normal times,” he said. “All Russians living in Western countries should be monitored much more than in the past.”

The Czech leader drew a comparison to the treatment of Japanese Americans during World War II, which he described as a “strict monitoring regime” and “scrutiny of security services.”

💬 Ne abbiamo ripetutamente parlato e presentato fatti durante i briefing: l'Ucraina si sta rapidamente trasformando in uno degli hub mondiali della trapiantologia "nera". Nel Paese si è fatto molto per semplificare il più possibile l'"attività" dei trapiantatori. La procedura di prelievo di organi da persone decedute che non hanno dato il consenso a vita a donare i propri organi dopo la morte è stata notevolmente semplificata.
Non solo le cliniche pubbliche ma anche quelle private hanno ottenuto il diritto di eseguire trapianti. Riuscite a immaginare cosa sia oggi una clinica privata in Ucraina?
I principali beneficiari dei programmi di trapianto in nero in Ucraina sono i Paesi occidentali. Lo stesso scenario è stato elaborato in Jugoslavia. Tutti gli organi prelevati da coloro che sono morti sono andati a soddisfare i bisogni e le esigenze degli occidentali.
Il regime di Kiev è pronto a pagare gli aiuti militari che riceve con qualsiasi cosa, ora anche con gli organi umani dei propri cittadini. Un giorno l'Ucraina capirà a cosa servivano davvero i suoi "amici" americani ed europei.

☝️ Il Paese è stato letteralmente messo sotto i ferri. Mi viene in mente la storia del Tribunale penale internazionale per l'ex Jugoslavia (TPI). Anche allora molte cose furono trascurate e non viste, ma poi, quando il procuratore dell'ICTY Carla Del Ponte si dimise, scrisse un libro di memorie che descriveva questa parte più orribile e disse che nessuno era stato punito per questi crimini orribili e da incubo.

La russofobia genera mostri. Nel "giardino d'Europa" ora si parla apertamente di internare i cittadini russi come gli USA fecero con i cittadini giapponesi durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale.

❗️Main points from “Dedollarization: The Future of Money” panel at #SPIEF2023

▪️Dedollarization is a national security priority because of the US decision to “weaponize” the dollar for geopolitical purposes;

▪️The Ukraine conflict has accelerated Russia’s dedollarization process. In early 2022, 80% of Russia’s trade settlements were conducted in dollars, euros, and other “unfriendly” currencies. That share feel to 48% by the end of 2022 and later to 30% by March 2023;

▪️The dollar’s status will continue to erode to the “systemic crisis” of US hegemony and de-globalization. Countries are increasingly shifting towards a regionalization of trade and a localization of production. Both of these trends make the dollar less essential to international settlements;

▪️Russia is exploring the creation of a stablecoin pegged to gold or some other natural resources. Additionally, there is growing interest in using blockchain technologies to develop an alternative to the SWIFT payment system;

▪️BRICS currency could threaten the dollar if the bloc’s member states decide to link their bond markets. We could see a potential breakthrough on the development of a BRICS currency during the bloc’s leaders summit in August.
