@LauraRuHK

German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock called Xi Jinping a dictator, live on Fox. German exporters to China are not going to like her incendiary rhetoric, though by now they should have realized she is batting for the US team, not the German one. The interviewer asked her "How does the German government and the West see the outcome of this conflict? How should it end?" She answered: "Freedom and peace in Ukraine. And we will support Ukraine for as long as it takes. Because if Putin wins, what kind of example will he set for other world dictators like Chinese leader Xi Jinping? So that's why Ukraine must win this military conflict." https://t.me/dimsmirnov175/54784

The more US radical politicians try to suppress China's companies, the more they will stimulate Chinese creativity
(By Hu Xijin) Ten Republican lawmakers jointly sent a letter dated Thursday to Alan Estevez, undersecretary of Commerce for Industry and Security, exerting pressure and presenting seven demands. These demands include the establishment of a new agency dedicated to controlling the export of American technology to China, imposing "full blocking sanctions" on both Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) and Huawei, and placing all their subsidiary companies on the Entity List. Their attitude is extremely arrogant, even going so far as to demand criminal charges against executives of SMIC and Huawei.
There are several possibilities going forward. The first is that these legislators fail, and their demands are not accepted by the US government. These legislators have always been the most radical anti-China force in the US.
The second is that the US government, following these lawmakers, goes crazy, leading to further failure for the US. Previous rounds of sanctions against Huawei were already very harsh, causing Huawei to withdraw from the 5G smartphone business. SMIC has also long been on the US Department of Commerce's Entity List, being a key target of restrictions for US and its allies. Now, how the Kirin 9000S chip used in the Huawei Mate 60 Pro is produced has not been disclosed by Huawei. However, a significant fact is that Huawei has pierced through the network of US sanctions.
In the era of globalization, it is impossible for blockade wall to be completely airtight. Huawei has strong research and development capabilities, and Chinese companies have already formed a solid national industrial foundation, which can support their ability to independently develop key technologies. When these two factors are combined, the US cannot hinder Huawei's development simply by building a taller and larger blockade wall. Since Huawei has openly released the Mate 60 Pro, there must be a backup plan. If the US builds a new blockade wall, the first to be actually sanctioned will be American and its allies' companies. Huawei will definitely be able to withstand it. Today's Huawei is even stronger than it was in 2019. It couldn't be defeated four years ago, and now and in the future, there is no way to suffocate it.
Thirdly, if the US brings criminal charges against SMIC and Huawei executives, it will signify a new confrontation. This is not an area where the US can unilaterally act without facing any consequences. The US will not gain any additional advantage from this, so they better abandon this idea.
Extreme American politicians need to understand that the Chinese people are much more intelligent than they imagine and possess a collective will to never surrender. The more they try to block and pressure, the more they will stimulate creativity in Chinese society. Decoupling and severing supply chain will cause losses for both China and the US, but the US is persisting in the wrong way while China is creating in the right way. Therefore, the US is bound to suffer more loss. (Source: Global Times) @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

“The value of information does not survive the moment in which it was new. It lives only at that moment; it has to surrender to it completely and explain itself to it without losing any time. A story is different. It does not expend itself. It preserves and concentrates its strength and is capable of releasing it even after a long time.” Walter Benjamin This channel will change, slowly because I do not like sudden changes, but it will undergo a mutation. I started it as a kind of notebook in which I wrote down thoughts, information and news that primarily interested me. My personal reader's digest. Then I discovered that thousands of other people were also interested and were sharing my posts. And i felt compelled to update it more often, to break news, to report on unfolding events. Its nature changed, it was no longer a "digest" because there was no time for digestion, just an open mouth that demanded constant feeding. And i no longer recognize it. I am not a journalist, never intended to become one, and there i was, running around like a headless chicken in pursuit of information that was worth sharing, or busy debunking disinformation. Unlike channels that rely on several administrators working shifts, this channel depends solely on my time and energy, which are diverted away from other activities that I consider important to make sense of the critical juncture we are witnessing. The amphetaminic nature of Telegram channels forces one to share information and comment on it in real time without being able to metabolise it, without paying enough attention to the quality of writing. It doesn't suit me. I need time to fertilise my mind with reading and study. But most of all, i want to think, write stories and long articles that withstand the test of time, regardless of its crazy acceleration. @LauraRuHK

When Olaf Scholz and his coalition government published Germany’s first ever comprehensive China strategy in mid-July i had written that the much touted "de-risking" was just an euphemism, that actually the US wanted its European vassals to de-couple from China, regardless of the economic and social cost of damaging mutually beneficial trade relations between China and Europe. Now an article published by the European Council on Foreign Relations, an Atlanticist think tank that was set up with Soros' money, admits that "de-risking was supposed to ease minds; it was supposed to serve as the less sinister sounding little brother of the decoupling monster that has spooked German businesses since US voices inserted it into the global China conversation." Germany, like the rest of Europe, is caught in a double bind: on one hand it is expected to follow the "green transition" path, on the other hand that transition is predicated on the import of technological products from China. Replacing those products with more expensive European or American ones will make that transition too costly for the country and would require massive investments to expand its industrial capacity. Problem is... Germany has been forced to do without an affordable source of energy, Russian gas, and has no nuclear power plants. Good luck. @LauraRuHK https://ecfr.eu/article/the-end-of-germanys-china-illusion/

Politico is hitting at Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, using a vulgar expression "What the fuck is Christine Lagarde up to?" that is out of keeping with the measured tone the publication is known for. So what did Lagarde say to provoke the ire of these card-carrying Atlanticists? ▪️Last month she stood before a large audience of elite central bankers and casually predicted the collapse of the international financial order and hinted at de-dollarization trend. Even Lagarde, not the most clued-up central banker, has figured it out...but apparently she shouldn't tell anyone because the show must go on. @LauraRuHK
