JOINING THE EU? NOT A PRIORITY FOR SERBIA - China's President Xi Jinping on Tuesday met Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Beijing, calling the country an "ironclad friend" and urging stronger strategic coordination between them.
Xi held talks with Vucic, who was in Beijing to attend a forum on the Belt and Road Initiative, China's plan for global infrastructure and energy networks launched a decade ago.
China and Serbia should promote cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure construction, digital economy and scientific and technological innovation, Xi said, according to state media China Central Television (CCTV).
Xi also pledged China's support for Serbia in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Vucic, who also described the friendship between Serbia and China as "ironclad", said their bilateral ties had withstood various tests, and acknowledged China's support to Serbia when facing difficulties, CCTV said.
The two leaders signed several bilateral documents, including on industrial and investment cooperation, and a free trade agreement, according to the report. (Source: Reuters) @LauraRuHK

Vladimir Putin told journalists on Wednesday that he has ordered warplanes to conduct regular patrols of the neutral airspace over the Black Sea.
“Our MiG-31 planes are armed with Kinzhal missile systems. It is known that they have a range of over 1,000 km and a Mach-9 speed,” he said at a press conference in Beijing.
The announcement was not meant as a threat, Putin stressed, but rather a reaction to escalating instability, particularly in the Middle East. He mentioned the US’ deployment of two aircraft carrier strike groups to the Mediterranean Sea in support of Israel as a factor. (Source: RT) @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

"Western support for Israel undermines developing countries' support for Ukraine": Support for Israel has overwhelmed all Western efforts to pull countries in the "global south" over to Ukraine - everything Russia has been accused of, is being encouraged…

‼️Key takeaways from remarks of Igor Sechin, the CEO of Russian oil giant Rosneft and the Executive Secretary of the Russian Presidential Commission on the strategy of development of the fuel and energy industry and environmental safety, at the Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum in Beijing:
🔹China's economic model will be even more resilient to external shocks and allow the country to move to a new stage of development in the long term;
🔹Russia supplied more than 75 million tonnes of oil to China in 2023, a 25% increase in oil supplies year-on-year;
🔹Russia's gas exports to China will reach a new record high and exceed 30 billion cubic meters in 2023;
🔹It is important to continue expanding settlements with China and third countries in rubles and yuans as it would multiply trade;
🔹Russia aims to strengthen and deepen cooperation with China in the entire chain of creating value in energy and related areas;
🔹Direct investments in energy and related industries could become a new milestone of the Russia-China cooperation;
🔹Russia-China trade has grown to $660 billion over the past five years, with energy accounting for over 75% of exports to China;
🔹Rosneft's Vostok Oil project has the potential to stabilize the entire market of hydrocarbons against the background of a decline in investments in their exploration and production. (Source: Sputnik) @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

🚢 The Northern Sea Route (NSR), a vital maritime passage, traverses the Arctic Ocean along the Russian coastline, offering a promising and strategic shipping lane for international cooperation and trade.
The NSR holds a special place in Russia's vision for economic development. It offers a shorter and more efficient pathway for transporting goods between Europe and Asia, significantly reducing transit times and costs. Russia envisions this route as a key driver for its economic growth, enhancing connectivity between its Far East and European regions. Furthermore, the prospect of year-round navigation along this route, due to changing climate conditions, amplifies its allure for international commerce.

🇮🇱⚔️ 🇵🇸☦️ Footage of the destroyed Church of Saint Porphyrius.
Local rescuers are now searching for survivors under the rubble. The attack came as Palestinians who had lost their homes took refuge in the church.
The shrine stood for about one and a half thousand years, surviving the Crusades, wars and the decline of empires. But it did not survive the next round of conflict between Palestine and Israel.

The unstable Middle East is useful for the United States - Dmitry Medvedev.
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev believes that negotiations on the Middle East with the participation of the United States are doomed to failure.
“Any negotiation process in the Middle East with the participation of Washington always degenerates into a fiction and is obviously doomed,” he said.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council emphasized that not a single US administration showed interest in resolving the conflict.
“An unstable, explosive region, stuffed with a variety of weapons, turned out to be very useful to the United States. The result is controlled instability, bringing influence and big money,” explained the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council.
According to Medvedev, instead of trying to reduce tensions, the United States is sending aircraft carriers to the Mediterranean Sea and hastily preparing a bill on arms supplies to Israel.
“It also proposes to legitimize and consolidate allocations for assistance to Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan,” noted the deputy chairman of the Security Council.
Medvedev added that now few people are interested in a full settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
“The main thing today is to resume the settlement process. At the moment, it is obvious that this mission is impossible,” he emphasized. @LauraRuHK

Zakharova reacted to Biden's words about helping Ukraine as an "investment"
Zakharova: The United States has been deceiving the world for a long time, calling aid to Ukraine a struggle for democracy
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded in her Telegram channel to U.S. President Joe Biden, who called aid to Kiev a "smart investment."
"They used to call it 'a fight for freedom and democracy'. Now it turns out it's just a calculation. It has always been like this, it was just that the world was deceived under the guise of values that do not exist for Washington," she wrote.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that wars have always been a "reasonable investment" for the United States, since they did not take place on American soil, and Washington has never cared about other people's costs.
"As they say, nothing personal, strictly business," Zakharova stressed.

◾A photo with a bloody dead baby whose face is blurred has been circulating on X for the last four days: “This is the most difficult image we’ve ever posted. As we are writing this we are shaking,” the accompanying message says. It’s a paid message from the Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry. Part of its strategy: pushing dozens of ads containing brutal and emotional imagery ... In a little over a week, Israel’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has run 30 ads that have been seen over 4 million times on X... the Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry has released over 75 different ads, including some that are particularly graphic. They have been directed at viewers in Western countries — including France, Germany, the U.S. and the U.K.
- Some of the ads online have been met with some pushback by viewers who have sought ways to stop being targeted by the foreign ministry. But experts in the field say that this is simply the new reality of PR campaigns built around wars.

When there was only Ukraine, the States could still somehow maneuver. And when there are two conflicts going on at the same time, and the United States uses opposite rhetoric in them, this affects American opportunities in the world

🇺🇸🇮🇱 State Dept officials are preparing a dissent cable over Biden's Israel-Palestine policy
"A mutiny [is] brewing within State at all levels,” one official said, as staff describe anger, depression, tears in meetings + rumors more colleagues will quit.
The cable would represent a formal assessment that the US must change its Gaza approach to shield its national security interests. How harsh it is & how many sign will help determine its impact.
State Dept staff even at high levels feel Blinken is not hearing them right now.
