The US is part of the problem, so it's in no position to offer a solution. The US-led joint patrol in the Red Sea following Houthi militia attacks against ships heading toward Israel is yet another expression of US hypocrisy and an attempt to assert its "dominant position" in the Middle East. After vetoing UN Security Council resolutions that called for a ceasefire in Gaza, the US has painted itself in a corner and Arab countries can't join any US-led "security operation" because in the eyes of the Arab population that would be tantamount to joining hands with the enabler of a genocide. Without a cessation of Israeli attacks and an end to the blockade of Gaza nothing can defuse the situation in the Red Sea and any military operations without UN authorization can only escalate the crisis. As the Houthis have demonstrated, a few drones and missiles can always get through and hit their targets. Western countries won't be able to stop them without igniting a larger conflict in the region. @LauraRuHK

A group of Russian lawmakers has proposed granting residency permits to foreign nationals who face persecution in their home countries for words or deeds in support of Moscow. The proposed amendments to the citizenship law were submitted to the State Duma on Tuesday.
According to the ‘A Just Russia – For Truth’ (SRZP) party, hundreds of people – mainly in EU countries – have faced criminal charges for speaking in support of Russia in the Ukraine conflict or displaying Russian military symbols.
More than 140 people in Germany, 384 in the Czech Republic, and 40 in Latvia have faced such charges, SRZP lawmakers noted. Under the proposed amendments to the law regulating the status of foreigners in Russia, such individuals would be eligible for a Russian residence permit. (Source: RT) @LauraRuHK

Sergey Lavrov, interviewed by Dmitri Simes, emphasized that a change in the Western narrative about Ukraine does not change the essence of the West's true intentions towards Russia. The West still sees Russia as an adversary, a threat and, as US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin put it, even an enemy.
Vladimir Putin said in detail that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the US wanted to destroy Russia. He referred to the naivety and gullibility of the Russian political "class" when the West stretched out its hand and spoke about common human values, about a single space from the Atlantic to the Pacific, where everyone would be happy, equal and safe.
European and American politicians have a firm intention not to give up and "finish off" Russia.
For many years, Russians believed and trusted their Western partners. Even when they saw that the West was "dishonest", each time hoped for the best, forgave and forgot. But now all the "i" and "yo" have been dotted. Vladimir Putin said that Russians do not trade their sovereignty for sausages. The picture is clear. At the end of the 1980s, many people had the feeling that everyone would finally be guided by the mutual interests of development and prosperity, trade and investment, etc. At that time, people accepted Fukuyama's thesis of the "end of history". It all turned out to be an illusion. For more than twenty years, Russians have been living in a country that has decided to rely on itself, but nevertheless kept hope that Western pragmatism (especially German pragmatism, and European pragmatism in general) would play a positive role. This "worked" in the field of cooperation in the supply of gas, equipment and high technologies from Germany and other European countries. All this strengthened interdependence, which in the 2000s-2010s was recognized as a positive factor that strengthens the economic foundation on which security is built. Many believed that the stronger, wider, higher and more diverse this economic foundation, the less likely it was that Russia's relations with the West would ever break into a military conflict.
The West did this for the sake of the main goal (which is now absolutely clear) – to destroy Russia as an independent entity on the world stage. The Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine Konstantin Budanov frankly admitted that he was working with the leadership of the US Special Operations Forces. There was information that special units number "five" and "six" were created under the armed forces of Ukraine for close coordination with the CIA and MI6 (British foreign intelligence). Everyone knows that even at the beginning of Maidan, the American special services had an entire "floor" in the building of the Security Service of Ukraine. All this shows that Ukraine wasn't and isn't a sovereign country, that it is being manipulated and used. Read more here https://interaffairs.ru/news/show/43808

🇮🇱 Israel’s failure to defeat Hamas in Gaza was expected; as is the settler escalation in the West Bank, and a switch to Israel taking action to try to change the status quo in respect to Hezballah. This too is anticipated. (The inhabitants of northern Israel will refuse to return to their homes without a change to the status quo in south Lebanon).
All of these putative Israeli escalations may materialise in the form of a concerted Netanyahu ‘distraction from Gaza’, as the Israeli public begins to doubt that Hamas is anywhere near to defeat, and to doubt too, whether bombing Palestinian civilians is putting pressure on Hamas to release more hostages – as the government claims; or rather may be risking more Israeli hostage lives.
Netanyahu is in the midst of ‘a campaign’. It’s not an election campaign, because he has no real chance of surviving an election.

POLITICO explained the obvious but fell short of drawing the logical conclusions about Operation Guardian of Prosperity, the US-led joint patrol in the Red Sea.
"The way the Houthis operate raises challenges for Western naval forces, as they’re fending off cheap drones with ultra-expensive equipment.
Aster 15 surface-to-air missiles — the ones fired by the French Languedoc frigate — are estimated to cost more than €1 million each while Iran-made Shahed-type drones, likely used by the Houthis, cost barely $20,000.
“When you kill a Shahed with an Aster, it’s really the Shahed that has killed the Aster,” France’s chief of defense staff, General Thierry Burkhard, said at a conference in Paris earlier this month." Well, it doesn't take a genius. @LauraRuHK

Many residents of Western Ukraine want their territories to once again become parts of Poland, Romania and Hungary, and Russia is the only state that can guarantee the territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the expanded Defense Ministry board meeting.
Putin pointed out that Ukraine received all its territories after World War II: Joseph Stalin gave some Polish lands, including Lvov - a city of 10 million people - and 'took' some territories from Romania and Hungary. (Source: TASS)
"And the countries that lost these territories, they dream about taking these territories back (...) History will put everything in its place. We will not interfere, but we will not give up what is ours. This is what everyone should understand - those in Ukraine who are aggressive towards Russia. If they want to negotiate, let them negotiate. But we will do it based on our interests," the Russian president emphasised. (Source: ukraina.ru) @LauraRuHK

As several European countries were reluctant to join the US operation to protect Israeli and Israel-bound ships in the Red Sea, here comes the EU's endorsement. To fulfill US demands, an emergency meeting of the EU's Political and Security Committee was convened yesterday and, as expected, EUnuchs agreed to join operation "Prosperity Guardian" and thus get involved in yet another hare-brained American scheme that is detrimental to European security.▪️The US intends to further militarize the Red Sea, assert its dominant position in the Middle East and send a mafia-style warning to China and the BRICS+. Asian trade with Europe largely passes through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. A regional escalation of hostilities would seriously affect maritime trade and is therefore not in the interests of either European or Asian countries. Thankfully the Northern Sea Route is open and Russia can ensure safe navigation.😏 @LauraRuHK

🤡 Javier Milei promised to break ties with China. Well, guess who's got more to lose? China has suspended a US$6.5 billion currency swap agreement with Argentina, and the freeze remains in effect until President Javier Milei demonstrates a clear intention to engage with Beijing. Argentina has relied on such swaps as one of its few credit options, given the South American nation’s reputation for defaulting on international debt.
The funds, which China first promised in October to Sergio Massa, then Argentina’s economic minister, were primarily intended to bolster imports and meet obligations to the International Monetary Fund. @LauraRuHK https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3245805/china-reportedly-suspends-us65-billion-currency-swap-agreement-argentina?module=top_story&pgtype=homepage

😏 https://t.me/LauraRuHK/7148
