A series of powerful explosions rocked Kiev in the morning, columns of smoke are rising in the city, eyewitnesses told TASS.

"A whole series of explosions, very loud ones in the Solomensky, the Solomensky and Shevchenkovsky districts," eyewitnesses said, adding that "columns of black smoke can be seen in several places."

Numerous explosions were also reported in Kharkov, Dnepr (formerly Dnepropetrovsk), Odessa, Lvov, the Kiev-controlled city of Zaporozhye, and the Khmelnitsky and Ternopol Regions. No further details were given apart from the fact that the air defense systems were working and caused damage to residential buildings. Invariably that damage will be blamed on Russian attacks rather than AFU air defense. Yuriy Ignat, Ukrainian air defense spokesman confirms unprecedented Russia missile attack on Ukraine:
"We have never seen so many targets on our monitor at the same time. Russia fired all its missiles today, except for the calibres. Daggers, Ballistic, S-300, cruise missiles, UAVs, X-22 or X-32. Activity in Russia's manufacturing sector expanded at its fastest pace in almost seven years in December, a business survey showed on Friday, though new export orders contracted for the second month running.

The S&P Global Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for manufacturing rose to 54.6 in December from 53.8 in November, moving further above the 50 mark that separates expansion from contraction.
