Yesterday I managed to speak with a dear friend who has been displaced many times with his family, by the IOF. On the last occasion they were forced to evacuate Khan Younis on foot, to Rafah. An IOF tank crushed his car in front of him. Now, they are in Rafah. Two days ago the IOF bombing campaign was 300m from their rented apartment. 100 plus civilians were murdered.
He told me "Vanessa, I realise we never appreciated what we had before. We took everything for granted, the water from the tap, a pan to cook with, food. We were not thankful enough."
He also told me the collective trauma is so great "people are dead people walking in the streets. They lost their minds. It's a jungle, everyone starving and terrified".
People talk about decades to rebuild Gaza infrastructure. How many decades to rebuild souls?
Despite everything, we could still joke about my poor Arabic and the craziness of his situation. In true war time style. Impossible to understand if you have not been in that situation. Humour is a survival mechanism.

More than 200 foreign guests will attend "For the Freedom of Nations!", a forum against neocolonialism to be held in Moscow on February 15-17.
The forum will see the participation of delegations from the Central African Republic, China, North Korea, and South Africa and other countries.
Supporters of the fight against modern practices of neocolonialism will gather in Moscow said Andrey Klimov, First Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Forum, Deputy Chairman of the Commission of the General Council of United Russia on International Cooperation and Support of Compatriots Abroad.
"Delegations are already beginning to arrive in Moscow. In total, about 200 foreign citizens were accredited to the forum. They come from more than 50 countries of the world, and most of them represent about 60 political parties and public organizations, movements and some international organizations", Klimov said.
As the senator emphasized, the forum was conceived as a socio-political international event. He noted that the delegation from the Central African Republic, headed by President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, as well as a "large, important delegation" from the Communist Party of China and representatives of the DPRK aroused particular interest.
The forum will also be attended by a delegation from South Africa, represented by members of the African National Congress.
Among the participants of the forum will be more than 30 people holding the positions of leaders or deputy heads of political parties, most of whom are ruling their countries or are members of ruling coalitions. In addition, many guests hold prominent positions, from heads of State to members of the Government and heads of parliaments. Klimov stressed that, thus, the level of representation at the forum is very high.
He also emphasized that the time of the plenary session of the forum coincides with the Munich Security Conference.
"They expect 150 participants, and we already have 200," the senator said.
Klimov also said that Western countries, primarily the United States, are doing everything to silence the forum in Moscow, as well as directly impeding its work.

Secondo le prime informazioni, ci sono stati 6 morti, tra i quali anche un bambino. Sono invece 17 i cittadini rimasti feriti, di cui 4 sono bambini. Sono stati danneggiati condomini, automobili, un negozio e un’attività industriale della zona. Dal punto di vista militare, si è trattato di un azione del tutto priva di senso.
Secondo quanto riferito dal Ministero della Difesa della Federazione Russa, nello stesso giorno, sopra il territorio della regione di Belgorod, i sistemi di difesa antiaerea hanno abbattuto 14 missili ucraini “Vampire”, provenienti da sistemi missilistici a lancio multiplo.

⚡️Avdeyevka has fallen. Located north of Donetsk, it was a heavily fortified area of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. From Avdeyevka they shelled the city. Not anymore.
Commander-in-chief Syrsky has just announced the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops. ▪️This is excellent news: the liberation of Avdeyevka brings huge relief to the population of Donetsk and will allow Russian forces to push further to the west, making it harder for Kiev to attack Russian towns and cities. @LauraRuHK
