المبعوث الأممي إلى اليمن يختتم زيارة إلى الرياض
عمّان، 10 أبريل/نيسان 2026 – قام المبعوث الأممي إلى اليمن هانس غروندبرغ بزيارة إلى الرياض قادماً من عدن، وذلك في إطار مساعيه المستمرة لدفع عملية سياسية بقيادة يمنية تحت رعاية الأمم المتحدة.

والتقى المبعوث الخاص برئيس مجلس القيادة الرئاسي، رشاد العليمي، حيث بحثا التقدم المحرز في تعزيز الاستقرار في المناطق الواقعة تحت سيطرة الحكومة وسبل الدفع بعملية السلام.

كما عقد غروندبرغ لقاءً مع سفير المملكة العربية السعودية لدى اليمن، محمد الجابر، حيث ناقشا آفاق عملية السلام في اليمن، إضافة إلى المفاوضات الجارية بشأن المحتجزين على خلفية النزاع والتي تُعقد في عمّان.

والتقى المبعوث الخاص أيضاً بممثلي قيادة القوات المشتركة.

بالإضافة إلى ذلك، التقى المبعوث الأممي بسفراء الدول الخمس دائمة العضوية في مجلس الأمن الدولي، مؤكداً ضرورة تضافر الدعم الدولي لخفض التصعيد والتوصل إلى تسوية تفاوضية.

The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, briefed today the #UNSecurityCouncil.


✍️ Key points included:


⚪️ Yemen has not been spared the pull of the ongoing regional war, with recent attacks by Ansar Allah against Israel at the end of March raising global concerns over the potential expansion of the conflict to another front.

⚪️ Through engagements in Amman and visits to Aden, Moscow, Riyadh, and Washington D.C., the Special Envoy stressed the risk of Yemen being drawn into the regional confrontation and the need to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden - a persistent issue since 2023.

⚪️ The Special Envoy’s recent visit to Aden underscored, the urgency of sustaining stabilization efforts, with the new Cabinet under Prime Minister Shaya Al-Zindani prioritizing economic measures, including improvements in electricity provision and public sector salaries, with key support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


⚪️ He noted that Yemen remains highly exposed to the economic repercussions of regional escalation, with the most vulnerable populations bearing the brunt of rising prices, import disruptions, and declining remittances.

⚪️ The Special Envoy underscored that civilians continue to bear the cost of an unresolved conflict, pointing to incidents such as the shelling of a Ramadan iftar gathering in Hajjah, increased sniper activity in Taiz, and casualties during recent demonstrations in Mukalla, and stressing the need for accountability, restraint, and adherence to international humanitarian law.

⚪️ He highlighted that the mandate of the UN Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement concluded on 31 March in line with Security Council resolution 2813, with his Office continuing to support implementation of the Agreement through engagement with the parties.

⚪️He stressed that Yemenis need a solution for Yemen, and that their future should not be held hostage to regional turmoil, underscoring that an inclusive political process remains the only viable path to a durable resolution, a more secure and prosperous future, and to providing the guarantees needed for the region and the international community, including on freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

⚪️Over the past ten weeks, the parties have engaged in direct UN-facilitated negotiations in Amman on conflict-related detainees - the longest round to date -demonstrating that dialogue remains possible despite current challenges; while progress has been made, further compromises are needed to reach a positive outcome.

⚪️He underscored the continued arbitrary detention of UN, NGO, and embassy personnel by Ansar Allah noting the violation of UN privileges and immunities and calling for their immediate and unconditional release and halting of criminal proceedings.

⚪️ خلال لقاءاته في عمّان وزياراته إلى عدن وموسكو والرياض وواشنطن العاصمة، شدّد المبعوث الخاص على خطر انجرار اليمن إلى المواجهة الإقليمية، وعلى ضرورة الحفاظ على حرية الملاحة في البحر الأحمر وخليج عدن، وهي مسألة مستمرة منذ عام 2023.

⚪️ أكدت الزيارة الأخيرة للمبعوث الخاص إلى عدن على ضرورة مواصلة جهود تحقيق الاستقرار، حيث أعطت الحكومة الجديدة برئاسة رئيس الوزراء شائع الزنداني أولوية للتدابير الاقتصادية، بما في ذلك تحسين خدمات الكهرباء وصرف رواتب القطاع العام، بدعم أساسي من المملكة العربية السعودية.

⚪️ أشار المبعوث الخاص إلى أن اليمن لا يزال عرضة بشكل كبير للتداعيات الاقتصادية للتصعيد الإقليمي، حيث تتحمل الفئات الأكثر ضعفًا العبء الأكبر من ارتفاع الأسعار، واضطرابات الاستيراد ، وتراجع التحويلات المالية.

⚪️ أشار إلى أن ولاية بعثة الأمم المتحدة لدعم اتفاق الحديدة قد انتهت في 31 مارس، وفقًا لقرار مجلس الأمن رقم 2813، فيما يواصل مكتبه دعم تنفيذ الاتفاق من خلال التواصل مع الأطراف.

The Office of the UN Special Envoy concludes meeting with representatives of the Military Coordination Committee

Amman, 21 April 2026 - The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY) convened a new round of technical meetings in Amman from 19 to 20 April within the framework of the Military Coordination Committee (MCC).

Building on the previous meetings with MCC representatives from the Government of Yemen and the Joint Forces Command, this meeting brought together MCC representatives from Riyadh and Sana’a. The participants discussed the current context in Yemen and the region and explored ways to improve security for Yemenis through deescalation and continued dialogue.

Based on a commitment from all sides, OSESGY is planning to convene all three delegations of the MCC in the coming period.

اختتم مكتب المبعوث الخاص للأمم المتحدة اجتماع مع ممثلي لجنة التنسيق العسكري

عمّان، 21 أبريل/نيسان 2026 – عقد مكتب المبعوث الخاص للأمين العام إلى اليمن (OSESGY) جولة جديدة من الاجتماعات الفنية في عمّان خلال الفترة من 19 إلى 20 أبريل، وذلك في إطار لجنة التنسيق العسكري .

واستناداً إلى الاجتماعات السابقة مع ممثلي اللجنة من الحكومة اليمنية وقيادة القوات المشتركة، جمع هذا الاجتماع ممثلين عن اللجنة من الرياض وصنعاء. وناقش المشاركون الوضع الراهن في اليمن والمنطقة، وبحثوا سبل تعزيز الأمن لليمنيين من خلال خفض التصعيد ومواصلة الحوار.


وبناءً على التزام من جميع الأطراف، يعتزم مكتب المبعوث الخاص للأمين العام إلى اليمن عقد اجتماعات تضم وفود اللجنة الثلاثة خلال الفترة المقبلة.

UN Envoy for Yemen concludes meetings in Oman

22 April 2026 – As part of his continuing regional engagements, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, concluded today a visit to Muscat, where he met with senior Omani officials to discuss the way forward for Yemen’s peace process amid evolving regional dynamics. The Special Envoy highlighted Oman’s crucial role in supporting dialogue and underscored the importance of regional support for the UN mediation process.

The Special Envoy also met with Mohamed Abdel Salam, Ansar Allah’s Chief Negotiator, with whom he discussed the way forward for the mediation process. Grundberg also provided an update on the ongoing negotiations in Amman over the release of conflict-related detainees, emphasizing the urgent need to achieve a breakthrough to bring relief to hundreds of Yemeni families.

In addition, the Special Envoy, together with the UN official leading on the issue of detentions of UN personnel, Muin Shreim, raised the continued arbitrary detention of 73 UN personnel, emphasizing that this remains a priority for the United Nations and calling for their immediate and unconditional release.

المبعوث الأممي إلى اليمن يختتم اجتماعاته في سلطنة عُمان

22 أبريل/نيسان 2026 – في إطار جهوده الإقليمية المتواصلة، اختتم اليوم المبعوث الأممي إلى اليمن، هانس غروندبرغ، زيارة إلى مسقط، حيث عقد لقاءات مع مسؤولين عُمانيين رفيعي المستوى لمناقشة سُبل الدفع قدماً بعملية السلام في اليمن في ظل المتغيرات الإقليمية. وأشاد المبعوث الأممي بالدور المحوري الذي تضطلع به سلطنة عُمان في دعم الحوار، مؤكداً أهمية الدعم الإقليمي لعملية الوساطة التي تقودها الأمم المتحدة.

كما التقى المبعوث الأممي بكبير مفاوضي أنصار الله، محمد عبد السلام، حيث ناقش معه سُبل تعزيز التقدم في عملية الوساطة. كما استعرض غروندبرغ آخر مستجدات المفاوضات الجارية في مدينة عمّان بشأن الإفراج عن المحتجزين على خلفية النزاع، مشدداً على ضرورة إحراز اختراق من شأنه التخفيف من معاناة مئات الأسر اليمنية.

We mark this year's International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace at a moment when the architecture of collective problem-solving is under pressure - and when the price of this strain falls most immediately on people living in conflict.

At a time of heightened international tensions over the conflict in the Middle East, maintaining collective focus on a Yemeni-owned political process under UN auspices remains essential.

The Yemeni people have endured more than a decade of war. They do not need a perfect international order. What they need is the international community to stand united behind a peaceful solution in Yemen.

My Office will continue its efforts to ensure coherent, coordinated regional and international support for the peace process.

UN Special Envoy for Yemen visit to Brussels

Amman, 29 April 2026 - The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, concluded today a visit in Brussels where he briefed the European Union's Peace and Security Committee and held discussions with EU's Special Representative for the Gulf, Luigi di Maio, as well as other senior EU officials and diplomats.

The Envoy updated on the latest developments in Yemen, the impact of the regional escalation, and the UN’s work on the political, security and economic tracks towards unlocking a Yemeni-led political process under UN auspices.

He expressed his gratitude for the EU’s continuous support on Yemen, including its backing of the UN’s mediation efforts. He underlined the importance of sustained support towards a negotiated political settlement in Yemen, as the only way to bring long-term stability in the country, and viable security guarantees for the region, including maritime security.

“EU has been for many years a committed partner to Yemen, helping bring relief to millions of Yemenis, advocating for and supporting human rights, and backing the UN’s political, humanitarian and development work. This partnership is more important than ever as we reinforce our collective efforts towards a comprehensive resolution to the conflict that Yemeni people so much deserve”, he said.

المبعوث الأممي إلى اليمن يزور بروكسل

‎عمّان، 29 أبريل/نيسان 2026 – اختتم المبعوث الأممي الخاص إلى اليمن، هانس غروندبرغ، اليوم زيارة إلى بروكسل، حيث قدّم إحاطة إلى لجنة السلام والأمن التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي، وأجرى مباحثات مع الممثل الخاص للاتحاد الأوروبي لمنطقة الخليج، لويجي دي مايو، إلى جانب عدد من كبار المسؤولين والدبلوماسيين في الاتحاد الأوروبي.

‎واستعرض المبعوث آخر التطورات في اليمن، وتأثير التصعيد الإقليمي، وجهود الأمم المتحدة في المسارات السياسية والأمنية والاقتصادية، بما يسهم في الدفع نحو إطلاق عملية سياسية بقيادة يمنية تحت رعاية الأمم المتحدة.

“I strongly condemn the abduction and assassination of Wesam Qaed, the acting Executive Director of the Social Fund for Development, in Aden. Wesam represented all that Yemen needs: dedication, commitment and genuine work to improve and protect Yemeni lives and livelihoods. His legacy must carry on.

It is disturbing to see another public figure assassinated in the span of two weeks, with the killing of Abdulrahman Al-Shaer on 25 April. I take note of the directives issued by Prime Minister Shaya Al-Zindani, to pursue those responsible for such heinous crimes and bring them to justice. It is imperative that accountability prevails and measures are taken to bolster the protection of civil society actors and public officials.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. I express my solidarity with all Yemenis who have been working relentlessly for the better of their country.”
