Statement by the Special Envoy for Yemen on the attack against the vessel at Al-Dubba oil terminal

Amman, 22 October 2022 - I condemn the aerial attack claimed by Ansar Allah yesterday, 21 October, against the vessel at Al-Dubba oil terminal in Hadramawt governorate. This is a deeply worrying military escalation.

At this critical juncture, I call on the parties to show utmost restraint and double their efforts to renew and expand the truce and lay the groundwork for a permanent ceasefire and activating a political process to end the conflict.

I reiterate that all parties must abide by their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

بيان من المبعوث الخاص إلى اليمن بشأن الهجوم على الباخرة النفطية في محطة الضبة

عمّان، 22 تشرين الأول /أكتوبر 2022- أدين الهجوم الجوي الذي تبنته أنصار الله يوم أمس 21 تشرين الأول / أكتوبر على الباخرة النفطية في ميناء الضبة بمحافظة حضرموت، إن هذا التصعيد العسكري مقلق للغاية.

أدعو الأطراف في هذه المرحلة المفصلية إلى التحلي بأقصى درجات ضبط النفس ومضاعفة جهودهم لتجديد وتوسيع الهدنة، ووضع الأُسس نحو وقف دائم لإطلاق النار، وتفعيل مسار العملية السياسية لإنهاء الصراع.

وأؤكد من جديد أنه يجب على جميع الأطراف الامتثال لالتزاماتها بموجب القانون الإنساني الدولي لحماية المدنيين والبنية التحتية المدنية.

UN Special Envoy Grundberg concluded his visit to #Riyadh today, where he held constructive meetings with @mohdsalj & diplomats from the permanent members of the Security Council. The discussions were focused on options to renew the truce & work toward a political process in #Yemen as a matter of urgency.
