Estive reunida nesta quinta-feira, 6, com o presidente Vladimir Putin, na Rússia, onde participo mais uma vez do Fórum Econômico Internacional de São Petersburgo. Foi uma conversa sobre o cenário internacional e a reconstrução do novo multilateralismo e da ordem internacional que reflita o mundo multipolar em que vivemos.
Ainda tratamos dos rumos do Banco dos BRICS. Eu e o presidente Putin estávamos juntos na criação do Novo Banco de Desenvolvimento, durante a Cúpula de Fortaleza dos BRICS, em julho de 2014. O banco tem atuado para fornecer os investimentos necessários para o desenvolvimento econômico e social dos seus países membros. Desde janeiro, a Rússia preside o BRICS.
No encontro, reiterei que somos um banco diferente das outras organizações financeiras multilaterais existente. Somos um banco criado pelos países do Sul Global para os países do Sul global. Temos ainda outra característica importante: não impomos condições para nossos membros.
Por fim, também tratamos do que é o tema principal do Fórum de São Petersburgo de 2024: sem uma economia multipolar, a multipolaridade é impossível. Isso se reflete quanto ao papel e o uso das moedas nacionais. O compromisso do NDB tem sido fornecer suporte e recursos aos países membros em suas moedas nacionais, diminuindo riscos para que não sejam afetados pela volatilidade das taxas de câmbio.
Eu agradeci o apoio da Rússia ao banco e à minha gestão. Precisamos de uma economia multipolar com novos centros que possam ajudar a suportar choques e crises globais. Isso permitirá reduzir o risco de instabilidade econômica global causada por problemas nas grandes economias.
