The #Macron's visit is not a simple one: #France is particularly exposed to tensions surrounding the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.
The debate in France has become domestic, with Jean-Luc Mélenchon's LFI refusing to call Hamas a terror group. Interior Minister Darmanin (among others) has hit back at Mélenchon giving the geopolitical divide a domestic dynamic in France. Beyond the actual debate, both sides have domestic reasons to take the line that they took (Mélenchon is popular among the banlieu and can't lose this constituency, Macron and other area looking to create tensions with the broader leftist alliance). The ban against pro-Palestinian protests has also upped the ante.
France has been hit directly by the aftershock of the conflict, with the attack in Arras, and a plot to bomb the Israeli Embassy, amongst others. The first attacks was not directly tied to the conflict by the attacker, but I would say there is a likely link, as jihadist groups are using the crisis as an opportunity to further deepen the divide (remember #ISIS theorized "destroying the grey zone" and mentioned the theory right after the Bataclan attacks).
At the same time, France has the largest Jewish community in Europe, one of the largest number of hostages and victims of the October 7 #Hamas attacks. It can't just look away, and act as if it has no skin in the game.
Finally, Macron's track record of affecting change in the region isn't great - he visited Lebanon after the Beirut explosion, which went nowhere (as former President Chirac said "ca a fait pschitt"). Lebanon is admittedly a tough nut to crack, but it's not like Israel/Palestine is any easier.
Macron initially wanted to come and call for a resumption of the peace process, but other reports suggest he may scale to just a solidarity visit - but he is not one to scale back generally so I am skeptical.

#Macron is perfectly right & wise. No options should be off the table in the realm of deterrence. Additionally, he takes on the leadership of Europe and, maybe, of the West - which, considering the current chaos and vacuum from US Congress, can’t be bad. lemonde.fr/en/international/… - Bernard-Henri Lévytweet
