RT @LSagePassant: To expand on this: mapping out your own supply chain (something we do a lot in the corporate security world) is very tough. Doing this to an adversary, and then penetrating it at a key stage, is incredibly impressive. #intelligence #SupplyChain

Good thread. If not a hack, then deep penetration of such a closely-held supply chain is impressive and will almost certainly provoke urgent review of all other recent acquisitions (disrupting command, control and confidence!)

RT @Robert4787: Straight out of a spy novel- CIA officer nabbed for a covert op, waiting at the airport in Lisbon, then boom, last-minute pardon, no extradition, she's free. Todos os acordos com o Brasil sobre imigração deviam ser suspensos e introduzido um sistema de vistos

Russia’s not just spying, they’re shape-shifting. Turning agents into Brazilians to slip past Western intel shows just how deep the game goes. It’s Cold War tactics with a passport twist. #Espionage #SpyTradecraft #Brazil #spying https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/how-russia-used-brazil-as-a-spy-factory-for-global-espionage

RT @TTheBattlefield: 🇺🇦🇷🇺 BREAKING: Ukraine Thwarts Massive Russian Assassination Plot ("Enigma 2.0")

‼️The SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) has dismantled a major Russian-backed hit squad operating across multiple borders, preventing a planned wave of high-profile assassinations deep inside Ukraine.

🔍 Key Details of Operation "Enigma 2.0":

🎯 The Targets: Ukrainian journalists, public figures, a strategic enterprise director, and military personnel (including Foreign Legion fighters).

🕵️‍♂️ The Network: Coordinated raids led to 7 arrests in Ukraine and 3 in Moldova. The ringleader is a 34-year-old from Moldova, commanding accomplices from Ukraine, the EU, and the unrecognized Transnistria region.

💰 The Kill Fee: Russian intelligence offered up to $100,000 for successful hits, which were meticulously planned as drive-by shootings and car bombings.

🔫 The Arsenal: Authorities seized firearms, ammunition, combat grenades, and tactical communication gear during the raids.

💡 Why it matters (Zero-Click Context): This operation exposes a shift in Moscow's tactics. Instead of risking their own elite operatives, Russian intelligence is increasingly outsourcing its "wet work" to transnational criminal networks and mercenaries from grey zones like Transnistria to destabilize Ukraine's home front.

👇 Does Russia's reliance on foreign criminals from places like Transnistria and the EU show that their own intelligence networks inside Ukraine have been severely degraded, or is this simply a cheaper, deniable tactic? Let's discuss in the replies.

RT @HM_Int3lligence: Belgian authorities have arrested a woman who was interning at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium, on suspicion of espionage. The woman, a Canadian citizen of Chinese origin, was detained on Friday, and the Belgian Federal Public Prosecutor's Office announced the arrest on Saturday.

Prosecutors suspect that she was spying for a third country and was a member of a criminal organization. Investigators conducted searches at both her home and her workplace at SHAPE. The investigation began when SHAPE's own security services flagged her conduct and reported their concerns to Belgian military intelligence, which subsequently referred the matter to federal prosecutors.

SHAPE is NATO's primary military command in Europe, led by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and plays a central role in the alliance's operational planning. A SHAPE spokesperson stated that there is no indication that NATO's or SHAPE's operational readiness, command and control arrangements, or ongoing tasks have been affected, confirming that the headquarters continues to operate normally.

Authorities have provided few additional details about the case. They have not publicly identified the woman or disclosed the country for which she allegedly spied. This arrest comes amid heightened concerns across Europe regarding foreign intelligence activities targeting NATO institutions and member states.
Source: AP, Bloomberg, Washington Post, CBC, Global News.

So What
The identity of the sponsoring state has not been confirmed. While reports emphasize her Chinese origin, it’s important to note that origin alone is not evidence, and prosecutors have not named anyone specific. It's unlikely that a single intern represents the entire picture; additional handlers or a broader network may be involved. SHAPE, which is NATO's primary military command, is a probable target for any capable hostile service. Although she is individually accused of betraying her country, placing a source within a headquarters like this is standard tradecraft for hostile states, not an exception.
