Chainlink today announced it is working to enable financial institutions to connect their systems and key signing infrastructure to Swift’s blockchain ledger through the Chainlink platform.

🔜 This solution enables banks to easily access the Swift ledger and manage their usage of smart contracts on both their own ledgers for tokenized deposits and the Swift ledger. At the center of the solution is a self-signing model for financial institutions enabled through the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE).

🔜 Institutions retain control of the keys used to authorize transactions, while CRE orchestrates workflows connecting financial institutions to Swift’s ledger. This enables banks to adopt 24/7 tokenized payment workflows while preserving their existing security governance, approval processes, and operating models.

Financial institutions will be able to use CRE to seamlessly connect to Swift’s ledger, a digital platform for orchestrating 24/7 cross-border payments using tokenized deposits. These deposits live on bank-owned ledgers and securely coordinate the movement of funds between participating institutions, including overnight and weekends. 🚀

🚀 Scientists Operate a Quantum Computer in Space for the First Time

Scientists at the University of Vienna have achieved a global first by operating a quantum computer in space. Launched aboard a Falcon 9 in June 2025, the compact system faced unexpected challenges before becoming operational — highlighting the difficulties of running advanced technology in orbit.

The experiment could eventually help address the growing satellite data bottleneck by enabling processing directly in space instead of sending massive amounts of raw data back to Earth. While the system cannot process satellite data yet, the results show that quantum processors can be miniaturized, function in space, and potentially support quantum links between satellites and Earth.

China is offering the world’s brightest young scientists generous 15-year research grants for free exploration, as the country accelerates its drive to become a global science powerhouse.

Dou Xiankang, director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the country’s top funder of basic research, told a recent academic forum that the agency was selecting a group of the brightest researchers under 35 for long-term financial backing.
