πŸ€– Scientists overcome a hidden obstacle to more powerful quantum computers

Silicon spin qubits could play a major role in the future of quantum computing because they can be produced using the same semiconductor manufacturing methods that make today's computer chips. However, researchers have faced a significant challenge.

When multiple silicon qubits are controlled at the same time, their operations tend to become less accurate. Building practical, large quantum computers will require scientists to control many qubits simultaneously while keeping errors to a minimum.

πŸ“ Researchers at the RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science and their collaborators have now made important progress toward solving this problem. In a study published in Nature Physics, the team demonstrated highly accurate control of several silicon spin qubits operating simultaneously.

Their experiments used an array of five qubits connected to a shared microwave control line. By identifying a major cause of errors during simultaneous operation, the scientists developed a technique to reduce those errors and maintain precision.

"This shows that high-fidelity control can be maintained even when several qubits are operated at the same time and represents an important step toward scaling up silicon-based quantum processors," β€” Leon Camenzind, a RIKEN research scientist, said.

πŸ€‘ Ripple Receives Final OCC Approval to Establish National Trust Bank

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)
announced that Ripple has been granted final approval for chartering Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB), a federally supervised national trust bank.

βœ… The approval marks the culmination of RNTB’s organization process following conditional OCC approval in December 2025 and reinforces the company's longstanding commitment to building digital asset infrastructure within the regulated financial system.

➑️ RNTB's approved activities include managing the segregated reserves supporting Ripple USD (RLUSD), acting as collateral trustee of the reserves for the benefit of RLUSD holders, and providing fiduciary digital asset custody services.

➑️ RLUSD will continue to be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company (SCTC), Ripple's New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS)-regulated limited purpose trust company.

➑️ RNTB adds federal OCC supervision to the regulatory infrastructure supporting RLUSD, reinforcing Ripple's commitment to building digital asset products within rigorous state and federal regulatory frameworks.

β€œFor years, we’ve said crypto and banks work better together. Final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank is what that looks like in practice,” β€” said Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple.

β€œWe’ve spent over a decade building regulated financial infrastructure that institutions can actually use at scale. A national trust charter gives us an even stronger foundation for RLUSD and the institutional products we’re building across payments, custody and capital markets.”

Ripple will continue to work closely with the OCC, NYDFS, and other regulators as RNTB begins operations and as the U.S. implements the regulatory framework established by the GENIUS Act. πŸš€
