🔰 The Significance of Understanding Sins and Related Issues
☑️ Among ethical topics, understanding sins and their related issues holds special importance. This concept is explicitly derived from the verses of the Holy Quran and the profound words of the infallible members of the Prophet's household. Reason also dictates that obstacles hindering human evolution and progress towards divine proximity should be identified and eliminated. What greater obstacle exists than the disobedience and transgression against the Almighty?
☑️ Scholars and dignitaries, including Imam Khomeini, have consistently emphasized the importance of understanding and abstaining from sins in their scholarly and practical pursuits. Fundamentally, within the framework of Islamic ethical and educational doctrines, such as the school of Allama Tabatabai, the initial step towards moral enhancement and the so-called "self-discipline" is the abandonment of religious and apparent sins. It can boldly be asserted that successfully passing through this stage (performing duties and avoiding prohibitions) is a prerequisite for progressing to subsequent levels.
☑️ The seeker on the path to Allah must recognize these prohibitions to avoid falling into sin and remain vigilant against this ignorant peril! For this reason, understanding sins holds exceptional significance.

“They will betray you — but you, do not betray.
They will deny you — but you, do not deny.
They will praise you — be not deceived.
They will blame you — do not complain.
If the people of your city speak ill of you — do not be saddened.
And if all people speak well of you — do not be delighted.
Then, you will be one of us.”

⚠️ “If a person does not reform himself in youth, making up for it in old age is extremely difficult.”
If someone naively imagines that he can repent and correct his sins in old age — woe to him! For he has postponed the correction of what is present to an uncertain future. Moreover, in old age, the fifth deceiver — the devil — will block his path to repentance.
Does Satan ever leave the elderly alone? Has this open enemy not prepared special traps for them? Has not a particular temptation called “takāthur” (competition in wealth and offspring) been appointed as a snare for the old?
So if one fails to purify himself in youth, reform in old age becomes extremely hard — because he must face both the deceptions of youth and the perils of old age.
When Jābir ibn ʿAbdullāh sighed deeply (“tanaffus al-suʿadāʾ”) in the presence of Imam ʿAlī (peace be upon him), the Imam asked:
The Imam said:
Therefore, the material pleasures of this world are not worth sorrow or longing. Even rank and power are but illusions — and God does not love the arrogant and self-conceited.

“Jābir! Was that sigh for the world?”
He replied, “Yes.”
The Imam said:
“Let me describe this world to you so that you realize it’s not worth your sigh.
The best of worldly pleasures lie in food, clothing, and carnal desires. The finest food is pure honey — yet it’s produced by an insect! The best clothing is silk — and that too is spun by a worm!
So woe to the one who sighs for not having silk carpets — regretting not possessing what is made by a worm — or sighs for not having honey — lamenting the fruit of a bee’s labor.”
Therefore, the material pleasures of this world are not worth sorrow or longing. Even rank and power are but illusions — and God does not love the arrogant and self-conceited.

🔺 Two Meters of Calico!
▫️Hojatoleslam Sheikh Mahdi Ansari recounts:
🔹 One morning, I went with Allamah Jafari to buy bread 🍞. A porter came, put down his load, and said: "Gentlemen, could one of you help me lift this onto my shoulder?"
🔸 The late Jafari stepped forward and lifted the load. The old man bowed his head and said: "Place it a little higher so it rests on my head."
▪️ Mr. Jafari said: "Your head, like mine, has no hair. This load will put pressure on your head."
▫️The porter replied: "What can I do? God has willed my livelihood and worldly life to be this way... It's alright."
▪️ Mr. Jafari told him: "Put the load down." Then he took off his own turban and placed it on the porter's head, saying: "Now put the load on your head!"
▫️The porter said: "Sir, this is your turban!"
▪️ He replied in his Azeri accent: "Go on, dear! This is just two meters of calico—where was the turban? May God purify the heart."
🌀 I took off my own turban and gave it to Mr. Jafari so his head would not be bare.
🔻 He said to me: "You are young, and such temptations may come to you. We have passed that stage, and God had mercy on us—and may He continue to bless us until the end."
An unforgettable lesson in humility, compassion, and true dignity.

⁉️ How Can We Draw Closer to God?
✅ A profound answer from Ayatollah Mohammad Taqi Bahjat to seekers of truth and the path of spiritual growth.
One of the enduring concerns of those pursuing the path of God is finding a reliable way to attain nearness to Him and benefit from the true fruits of worship.
The distinguished scholar and mystic, Ayatollah Bahjat (may Allah have mercy on him), taught that the essential condition for attaining this goal is taqwa (God-consciousness) and avoiding sin.
In a valuable passage from the book Mava'ez al-Bahjah, he states:
Referring to Qur'an 5:27:
He frequently reminded believers that God accepts only those deeds that are rooted in taqwa. Thus, avoiding sin is the master key to the acceptance of worship and ultimate success.
📚 Those interested in Islamic ethics, spiritual refinement, and practical guidance for the path of self-purification may benefit from studying Mava'ez al-Bahjah and other teachings of Ayatollah Bahjat.

In a valuable passage from the book Mava'ez al-Bahjah, he states:
"Fundamentally, nearness to God is not possible without guarding oneself against sins... If a person is sincere in seeking closeness to God, abandoning sin is sufficient and all-encompassing for an entire lifetime—even if that lifetime were a thousand years."
Referring to Qur'an 5:27:
“Indeed, Allah accepts only from the God-conscious (al-muttaqin).”
He frequently reminded believers that God accepts only those deeds that are rooted in taqwa. Thus, avoiding sin is the master key to the acceptance of worship and ultimate success.
