๐น Kanood: Ingratitude in the Presence of Truth ๐น
๐ Surah Al-Adiyat, Verse 6:
"Indeed, man is ungrateful to his Lord." (ุฅูููู ุงููุฅูููุณุงูู ููุฑูุจูููู ูููููููุฏ)
The word "Kanood" comes from the root "Kand", meaning one who rejects sustenance. Ingratitude has various forms, and Kanood is one of themโit describes someone who had the opportunity to receive divine guidance but chose to turn away. It is like a student abandoning a great teacher despite having access to knowledge.
๐ธ Kanood applies to people who recognize the truth but fail to follow it. Throughout history, many have lived during the era of divine leaders (Imams and Prophets), yet only a fraction truly embraced guidance.
๐ธ Some individuals may appear human externally but have lost their true essence of humanity, becoming dominated by satanic desires and animalistic traits. Trying to cultivate righteousness in such a person is like sowing wheat in barren landโjust as one cannot expect crops from a salty desert, one cannot expect spiritual growth from those who reject divine truth.
๐ธ Most people are simply unaware (Mustadโaf), but "Lakanood" refers to those who know the truth yet reject it. Such people may even live in close proximity to divine leaders but remain spiritually deprived.
๐ธ A hadith states: "The worst of people are our servants." This means that some of the most corrupt individuals were those who lived closest to the Infallibles, yet instead of elevating themselves, they became the worst of humanity.
๐ธ Divine authority acts like a refining furnaceโit purifies the righteous and exposes the corrupt. Some of history's worst figures were those who lived alongside Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) but strayed into evil.
