Surah Abasa: A Reflection of Divine Leadership
From the Wilayah-Mahdawi Perspective
(Qur'an Juz 30 Series – Continuation)

Intro to Surah Abasa – Divine Rewards for Its Recitation

Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:

“Whoever recites Surah Abasa and Surah al-Takwir shall reside in Paradise beneath the wings of God, under His mercy and grace, and shall dwell in the gardens of the Divine. And this is not difficult for Allah, if He so wills.”
(Al-Tafsir al-Mansub ila Ahl al-Bayt, vol. 17, p. 372 / Thawab al-A‘mal, p. 121)

Wilayah-Mahdawi Insight:
Reciting these surahs grants one special divine protection — a station reserved only for the Awliya' (friends of God) and their followers. It’s a Qur’anic assurance for the people of Wilayah, whose path leads to Divine pleasure.

Reward = Shade of Mercy
Path = Guided by Wilayah
Destination = Divine Gardens

Verse 4 – Abasa

﴿أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنْفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَى﴾
“Or that he might take heed and the remembrance would benefit him.”

According to ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim (may Allah bless him):

“This verse refers to Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (peace be upon him).”
(Al-Tafsir al-Mansub ila Ahl al-Bayt, vol. 17, p. 374)

Wilayah Reflection:
This interpretation presents Imam Ali (a.s) as the living embodiment of Divine reminder (Tadhkirah). If people turn toward him, they find the straight path to guidance.

Verse 11 – Abasa

﴿كَلّا إِنَّها تَذْكِرَةٌ﴾
“No! Indeed, it is a reminder (Tadhkirah).”

a) ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim (r.a) said:

“This verse was revealed about the Imams (peace be upon them).”

b) Imam al-Kazim (peace be upon him) said:

“The term ‘Tadhkirah’ here refers to Wilayah.”
(Al-Tafsir al-Mansub ila Ahl al-Bayt, vol. 17, p. 376 / Al-Kafi, vol. 1, p. 434)

Wilayah–Mahdawi Reflection:
The Qur’an reflects Wilayah. Recognizing Wilayah is the key to truly understanding the Qur’an. The Imams are the living reminders, and in the age of occultation, remembrance of Imam Mahdi (aj) becomes the ultimate awakening for heedless hearts.

Mahdawi Summary
Though Surah Abasa appears to narrate a singular event, it holds layered meanings rooted in Wilayah. Imam Ali (a.s) is depicted as the Divine Reminder, and the true reminder of the Qur’an is none but Wilayah itself.
Ali is the beginning of the path, and Mahdi is its promised fulfillment.

Through recitation, reflection, and devotion to this Surah, one can seek refuge beneath the shade of Wilayah and walk toward the gardens of salvation — where those who remember, follow, and await are truly at home.
