✨ A new experiment from the University of Melbourne tested how watching Mukbang videos affects mental health. 327 participants watched a 10-minute Mukbang.

📉 The study found that watching Mukbang videos led to reduced disordered eating urges (specifically, women reported less harmful dietary restraint, and men reported less urge to overeat).

😔 However, participants also reported a decrease in positive mood, though negative mood and negative body image remained unchanged.

🤔 The researchers suggest short-term Mukbang exposure might not be as harmful as previously thought, potentially reducing shame and anxiety around eating, but longer-term effects require further study.

- 🔍 New Flinders University research reveals popular social media wellness content often mirrors attitudes linked to orthorexia nervosa, an unhealthy obsession with "healthy" foods.

- 📊 A study of 300 #healthylifestyle, #nutrition, and #cleaneating posts found widespread restrictive food rules, moralized food views, appearance-based health definitions, and unrealistic ideals, with 67% emphasizing clean eating and 78% of creators being unqualified influencers.

- 💡 Experts warn that such content can promote unhealthy perfectionism, linking health directly to appearance and strict dietary choices, contrary to the flexible and enjoyable nature of true wellbeing.
