💡 New 10-year German study suggests screening all children for early type 1 diabetes signs, not just those with genetic risk, identifies significantly more cases.
🔬 In a study of over 220,000 children, 81% of those who developed type 1 diabetes were flagged by early screening. Without broader screening, only 34% of those progressing to the disease would have been identified.
✅ Early diagnosis allows for better disease management and the use of new treatments like teplizumab, which can delay the onset of clinical type 1 diabetes by approximately four years.
