🚸 New research published in "Mental Health and Physical Activity" reveals a two-way street between kids' sitting time and their mental health. Inactivity can worsen depression, and depression can lead to more sitting, creating a cycle.
👨👩👧👦 This cycle can also impact parents: a child's increased sedentary behavior due to depression can, in turn, lead to higher depressive symptoms in their parent over time.
📊 The study, conducted by researchers led by Maria Siwa from SWPS University in Poland, tracked 203 parent-child dyads (children aged 9-15) for 14 months using accelerometers for objective activity data and questionnaires for mental health assessment.
