PROTEST ACTION & LOOTING

Protest action occurred last night along a main transport route bordering a nearby informal settlement. Protestors obstructed the road with burning tyres and rocks, resulting in several trucks being trapped. Another truck jack-knifed whilst trying to evade. Protestors were stoning vehicles and began looting the trucks that were stuck on the road.

Sentinel Security Control Room received information from our provincial crime alert platforms and immediately deployed Sentinel Security Saturation, Tactical and Reaction units to the scene. Thanks to the rapid and decisive response, significant losses were averted.

A truck transporting liquor sustained only minimal stock loss, a second truck carrying groceries emerged with no stock loss, and a third truck loaded with vehicle windscreens and glass suffered damage and theft.

Together with Sentinel Security Teams SAPS, secured the scene as protestors and looters evaded the scene. The road was subsequently cleared of rocks and debris and was reopened. Roadside recovery teams were also mobilised to assist a truck that got stuck in the veld alongside the road.

Well done to Sentinel Security personnel, SAPS members, Vehicle Tracking Partners, private security and roadside recovery services for their outstanding collaboration under pressure. Once again, Sentinel Security demonstrated its commitment to protecting lives, assets, and infrastructure when it matters most.
