10.1 Should we be frightened of AI?
Article in New Yorker by Tad Friend suggests that we should fear desire of creating Artificial General Intelligence. Author of this Article come to a conclusion that we cannot predict and therefore control A. G. I. in any way. It is simply beyond our understanding and therefore creating super intelligent machine will in fact be the last creation, produced by mankind. I’m certain, that panic and attempt to stop human progress will not help. One interesting suggestion is to create a set of robotic programs with embedded human values. This is certainly no small task, considering, that such machines have to understand some of the complexity of our emotional constitution. According to some views outlined in the article creating human-like A.G.I. is almost the only way to escape potential extinction. I have to be honest that author did not conduct a detailed technical review of many technologies, but he is analyzing social aspect of automation phenomena. Being anxious will not help us, however. I believe that finding the right solution for this is the only way to address this problem.

10.2 Gary Kasparov: Machines will not replace, but promote us.
The former world chess champion Gary Kasparov expresses his views on how to partner with machines in the article in WSJ. He also has a great TED talk about partnership with humans and machines, which was previously mentioned our feed. We highly recommend to check latest article and see if you share his optimism about living alongside robots, that will be smarter than you and me. Gary points out that machines will not evolve by themselves and they still need humans behind them. AI based systems are as good as data and algorithms behind them. More importantly Gary sees an opportunity to learn from machines, develop together with them.

10.3 Elon Musk fears worldwide AI dictator, that will never ever die.
Meantime Elon Musk still fears AI dictator, which in his opinion can arise from people trying to improve machine learning technology. Elon’s concern is about uncontrolled development of AI -related technology. In 2014 he named AI as the largest extinction threat for mankind. In one of the documentaries «Do you trust this computer» he says that machines may simply do the same thing as we do to ants when we are bulling the road. We love ants, but if they happen to be in our way - the next thing you know they are gone. Mr. Musk joined an effort to ban killer bots in 2015 and he continues actively invest into OpenAI initiative, where the team of smartest folks trying to come up with solutions to complex issues arising from machines development.
