🎼7 May 1955. Happy Birthday 🥳🍾to Mr. Steve Diggle, born Stephen E Diggle in Manchester, UK.
He is guitarist, vocalist and original member for seminal English punk band Buzzcocks which had its "good time" 😳😁 in the late 70s punk explosion 💣... and today it's still around 🤟
Diggle entered Buzzcocks as bassit in 1976 after meeting band leaders Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto at a #SexPistols gig 🔥 they all attended.
Devoto left the band soon to form his #Magazine and Shelley took the lead of Buzzcocks, thus moving Steve Diggle from bass to guitar🎸
Diggle has recently become also Buzzcocks' lead vocalist after Pete Shelley left this world in December 2018.
In the Chat Room👇 I post the first track Diggle co-wrote for #Buzzckocs. As always if you have any Buzzcocks' song you love... post it here 😃

Buzzcocks

📀 Spiral Scratch
#Punk #PunkRock

45 years ago Buzzcocks from Bolton, England, #UK released the first ever British Punk record... longer than a single: Spiral Scratch is in fact a 4 songs EP and it was preceded only by The Damned's single "New Rose" in October 1976, Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the U.K." and the first two singles by The Vibrators in November 1976.

Spiral Scratch is their only studio release to feature original legendary singer #HowardDevoto, who left shortly after to form Magazine. It was reissued in 1979 and reached n. 31 in UK charts.

#Buzzckocs line-up in this release:
Howard Devoto – vocals
Pete Shelley – guitar, backing vocals
Steve Diggle – bass guitar
John Maher – drums
