In September, the S&P 500 Index Reached a New All-Time High
September is a month that statistically has the worst reputation for the S&P 500 (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen). However, in 2025 things may be different, as today the index hit a record high, rising above 6,520 points.
Bullish sentiment is being driven by:
→ expectations of an interest rate cut in September, which is believed will give the US economy a positive boost (and increase corporate profits);
→ yesterday’s release of the ISM Services PMI (actual = 52.0, forecast = 50.9), which pointed to industrial growth;
→ strong corporate results – for example, Broadcom (AVGO) published a solid report yesterday.
Technical Analysis of the S&P 500 Chart
Analysing the 4-hour chart of the S&P 500 (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) on 28 August, we:
→ identified a support zone below 6,370;
→ noted several bearish signals and suggested that 6,500 could act as psychological resistance (with a potential false bullish breakout).
Indeed, since then (as shown by the blue arrows):
→ the price made a false breakout above 6,500;
→ then dropped to 6,370 to test the support zone;
→ after which it turned upwards again, forming a broad bullish engulfing pattern.
New data allows us to refine the position of the short-term channel (marked in blue), with the following perspectives:
→ Bearish view: the price is close to the upper boundary of the channel, which already showed resistance this morning (highlighted by the red arrow) – the candlestick has a long upper shadow.
→ Bullish view: yesterday’s rally demonstrated signs of imbalance in favour of buyers (as detailed in the description of the Fair Value Gap pattern), and the breakout above 6,500 looks genuine (since the price is consolidating above it).
Both viewpoints seem to be well-reasoned, but the market is unlikely to remain in balance, as today (15:30 GMT+3) the release of US labour market data is scheduled – arguably the key event of the week in the economic calendar.
Depending on the figures, the S&P 500 might:
→ attempt to break through the upper boundary;
→ or retreat towards the median of the blue channel.
Be prepared for volatility spikes.

Amazon (AMZN) Shares Jump Over 4%
Amazon (AMZN) shares were among the top gainers in the equity markets yesterday, rising more than 4% and closing above $235 for the first time since February 2025.
The rally was fuelled by reports that Kuiper – Amazon’s project aimed at providing internet access via a network of low-Earth orbit satellites – has signed a partnership agreement with JetBlue. From 2027, this will allow free Wi-Fi to be offered on board selected aircraft. As a result, Amazon’s project is emerging as a new competitor to Elon Musk’s Starlink.
Technical Analysis of Amazon (AMZN) Chart
Since August, AMZN’s price fluctuations have been forming a bullish structure of higher highs and higher lows (0-A-B-C-D-E-F).
These and other key turning points provide the basis for constructing an upward channel (shown in blue), with the following implications:
→ in the near term, the price could surpass the previous high at point E, extending the bullish structure;
→ the channel median has proved to be an important support level – it held the price during the early August decline and continued to play this role throughout the month.
It is worth noting that AMZN’s upward momentum within the channel is unfolding step by step, making it possible to draw intermediate resistance lines R0, R1, and R2. In this context:
→ they can be viewed as examples of a bullish flag chart pattern;
→ yesterday’s rally with a bullish gap may signal the start of a new growth phase towards the next resistance at R3.
However, on this path, hurdles could come from:
→ the upper boundary of the blue channel;
→ the $230 level, around which a bearish head and shoulders pattern formed in February, marking this year’s high;
→ the psychological level of $250.

Canadian Dollar Falls After Labour Market Data Release
On Friday, disappointing figures showed that in August the Canadian economy lost 65,500 jobs (the forecast had been for an increase of 10,000), while the unemployment rate rose to 7.1%. This is the highest level of unemployment since May 2016, excluding the pandemic period.
It is believed that:
→ the deterioration in the labour market (primarily in manufacturing) is a consequence of the trade war with the United States;
→ the fall in employment in Canada has increased the likelihood that the Bank of Canada will resume its monetary easing campaign.
As a result, the CAD weakened sharply against other currencies. However, the depreciation against the US dollar was less pronounced, as the USD itself is under pressure from various factors.
Technical Analysis of USD/CAD
From a long-term perspective, the USD/CAD pair remains within a downward trend, highlighted by a red descending channel.
From a medium-term perspective, since July the rate has risen from the 1.3550–1.3600 support zone, forming an ascending channel (shown in blue).
Price action (indicated by arrows) shows that:
→ sellers are aggressive, pushing the price down from the upper boundary of the red channel;
→ buyers are aggressive, driving the price up from the lower boundary of the blue channel. Its median line acts as resistance.
This is compressing USD/CAD fluctuations into a pattern resembling a symmetrical narrowing triangle (shown in black), with recent overbought (1) and oversold (2) conditions on the RSI marking price reversals back into the triangle from its boundaries.
Thus, we could assume that supply and demand forces will keep USD/CAD in a state of temporary balance while awaiting key news next week:
→ 16 September – Canada CPI report;
→ 17 September – interest rate decisions from both the Bank of Canada and the Federal Reserve.

Nikkei 225 Rises Following Resignation of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba
As the chart shows, Japan’s Nikkei 225 stock index (Japan 225 on FXOpen) today approached its historic peak (B) around the 43,900 level.
Bullish sentiment was driven by political news. According to Reuters, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has stepped down. The leading candidate to replace him, Sanae Takaichi, is regarded as a supporter of stimulus measures and unprecedented monetary easing – a bullish factor for companies.
Technical Analysis of the Nikkei 225
As indicated by the 200- and 400-period moving averages on the 4-hour chart, Japan’s stock market remains in a long-term uptrend. This summer, index movements have been forming an ascending channel, highlighted in blue, with the lower boundary acting as strong support.
Other bullish signs include:
→ A bullish structure, highlighted by a normal pullback of around 50% (B→C) following the A→B impulse.
→ During the B→C decline, price movements formed a corridor (marked with red lines) resembling a bullish flag pattern. Its breakout suggests an attempt to resume the upward trend after an interim correction.
→ Recent price action, indicating that former resistance levels have turned into support. This applies both to the upper red line (marked with an arrow) and to last week’s former resistance at 43,150.
On the other hand:
→ Long upper shadows on today’s candles point to increased selling pressure near the historic peak.
→ The RSI indicator has risen to the overbought territory.
Given that the index is now around the median of the ascending channel (a level where supply and demand tend to balance), we could assume the market may consolidate in the short term. Possible scenarios include:
→ Attempts to break through the historic high, which may fail – potentially trapping overly optimistic participants and creating signs of a bearish ICT Liquidity Sweep pattern above peak B.
→ A correction with a retest of the 43,150 level.

US Dollar Index (DXY) Drops to 7-Week Low Ahead of Key Inflation Data
As the US Dollar Index (DXY) chart shows, the value of the USD against a basket of other currencies has fallen below 97.30 – its lowest level since late July.
The reasons lie in market sentiment ahead of major data releases:
→ On Wednesday at 15:30 GMT+3, Producer Price Index (PPI) figures will be published; a month ago they came in extremely high.
→ On Thursday at 15:30 GMT+3, Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures are due.
These releases are particularly significant as next week the Federal Reserve is set to announce its decision on interest rates – a 25-basis-point cut is widely expected.
Technical Analysis of the DXY Chart
On 18 August, we identified a descending channel (shown in red) based on a sequence of lower highs and lower lows → it remains valid.
In addition, our base scenario suggested that the index might test one of the quartile lines (QL and/or QH) dividing the channel → indeed, since then the QH line has been tested several times (red arrow), convincingly acting as resistance.
What Next?
Bearish case:
→ Lower highs and lows throughout the second half of August indicate that sellers are in control of the DXY market.
→ The black arrow marks bearish momentum that broke through support at 98.05 last week.
→ The drop was sharp (a sign of imbalance in favour of sellers), and yesterday the 98.05 level acted as resistance.
Bullish case:
→ The DXY has dropped into the median zone, where supply and demand often balance. Buyers may step in, viewing current levels as attractive for entry.
→ The RSI may potentially form a bullish divergence.
→ The latest candle on the right shows a long lower wick (a bullish pin bar pattern), underlining buyers’ determination.
Given the above, we could expect the DXY to hover around the median area. However, the upcoming US inflation reports could trigger volatility across financial markets. A test of support at 97.15 could occur.

XAU/USD Analysis: 3 Reasons Why Gold’s Rally Might Pause
Today’s XAU/USD chart shows that gold continues to set records in September. The price has risen above $3,650 per ounce for the first time in history – one of the main drivers being expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut on Wednesday, 17 September.
Easier monetary policy is generally seen as boosting gold’s appeal – this has pushed XAU/USD nearly 6% higher since the start of September. However, the chart highlights three reasons why further upside may be limited.
Technical Analysis of the XAU/USD Chart
1. Long-term channel:
Over the course of 2025, gold price movements have formed an ascending channel (shown in blue), and today XAU/USD is trading close to its median line. This is where supply and demand typically balance out. Buyers may consider the post-September rally overstretched, while sellers could view the all-time high as an opportunity to take profits.
2. Rectangle pattern target reached:
The range between $3,250 and $3,440 that developed mid-year can be interpreted as a rectangle pattern. Following the bullish breakout, the implied target of $3,630 has already been achieved.
3. RSI signals risk:
The RSI indicator is close to forming a bearish divergence.
Given the steep angle of the orange support line, a correction – for example, towards the psychological level of $3,550 – might occur.
In summary, gold’s upward momentum may start to slow. At the same time, given the market’s inertia, traders may have little reason to expect a decisive shift away from bullish dominance. Still, next Wednesday could bring surprises.

Oil Prices Rise on Geopolitical Factors
As the XBR/USD chart shows, Brent crude opened this week’s trading around $65.70, but today the price is near $66.80 (around +1.7%).
Oil is being pushed higher by geopolitical factors, including:
→ Israel’s strike on Hamas leadership in Qatar;
→ Trump’s calls for Europe to impose tariffs on buyers of Russian oil.
It is also worth noting that over the weekend an OPEC+ meeting took place. Although the decision was made to increase production, the volumes were smaller than analysts had expected.
Technical Analysis of the XBR/USD Chart
After the surge of extreme volatility at the end of July, Brent crude price fluctuations have been forming a descending channel (shown in red). Recent developments include:
→ in September the price tested the lines dividing the channel into quarters (2 September – QH test, 5 September – QL test);
→ this week’s rise in oil looks like a return to the median, where supply and demand tend to balance out (in other words, where market participants more often agree on a fair price).
From a bullish perspective:
→ the $65.00 level appears to be an important support, having already proved its strength in August and September;
→ the sequence of higher highs and lows (A→B→C→D→E) suggests that pullbacks have been roughly half the size of bullish impulses – a sign of strong demand.
From a bearish perspective:
→ August price action suggests that a bear flag has formed as an interim correction within the prevailing downtrend;
→ the $67.50 level may act as strong resistance, as supply forces there were able to trigger a bearish breakout of the pattern.
Taking the above into account, we could assume that Brent prices may stabilise around the median in the short term, before sliding along it downwards – unless the balance of supply and demand shifts sharply (for example, under the influence of new geopolitical factors or the release of major economic indicators).

Yesterday, Apple unveiled its new products, including the iPhone 17. The new model features a sleeker form factor, an improved display and battery, and a new processor. However, analysts believe the model lacks the breakthrough impact needed to drive the stock higher.
The charts confirm this sentiment: while the main stock indices rose yesterday, AAPL shares fell by around 1.5%.
Technical Analysis of Apple Shares (AAPL)
When analysing the chart six days ago, we:
→ confirmed the upward channel (shown in blue);
→ highlighted the $235 support level;
→ suggested that while AAPL stock could maintain upward momentum, disappointment over the new product launch might trigger a correction.
In addition to the AAPL price action we noted earlier, several bearish signals on the hourly chart support the correction scenario:
→ a long upper shadow (marked with an arrow);
→ aggressive price action when breaking the $235 support;
→ bearish divergences on the RSI indicator.
Bulls might find support at line S, which is part of a fan drawn from the starting point of the bullish impulse on 6 August.
However, if bearish sentiment persists, price action could unfold within the structure shown in red (potentially a bull flag pattern inside the prevailing bullish trend). Bearish pressure could aim to push AAPL shares down towards the median of the red channel.
In that case, bulls may find support in the area where several lines converge:
→ the lower rays of the fan (shown in orange);
→ the psychological $230 level (which has repeatedly switched roles between resistance and support since August);
→ the median of the blue channel;
→ the lower boundary of the bullish gap from 2 September.

S&P 500 Hits Record High Ahead of CPI Report
Today at 15:30 GMT+3, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report will be released.
In anticipation of the figures, traders remain optimistic – the S&P 500 index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) reached a new all-time high yesterday, climbing above 6,560 points.
The bullish sentiment is driven by:
→ Expectations of an interest rate cut in September, which is believed to provide a positive boost to the US economy (and increase corporate profits).
→ A sharp rally in Oracle (ORCL) shares. The company announced it had signed four multibillion-dollar contracts with three different clients.
Technical Analysis of the S&P 500
On the 4-hour chart of the S&P 500 index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen), the price continues to move within an ascending channel, shown in blue.
From a bearish perspective:
→ the price is near the upper boundary of the channel, which has acted as resistance for several weeks;
→ the RSI indicator is close to the overbought zone, which may discourage buyers from entering at higher prices;
→ yesterday’s candle had a long upper shadow (marked with an arrow), indicating increased selling pressure.
From a bullish perspective:
→ the local level of 6,520, after being broken, has switched from resistance to support;
→ in September, the price has followed a steep upward trajectory (marked with orange lines), with the lower line showing signs of support.
Taking this into account, we could assume that the market is in a short-term state of balance while awaiting the release of inflation data – arguably the key event of the week in the economic calendar.
Favourable figures could encourage the bulls to attempt a breakout above the upper boundary of the channel, lifting the S&P 500 to a new all-time high. Be prepared for spikes in volatility.

#NIO #stockmarket #stocktrading #marketanalysis #MarketNews
NIO Share Price Shows Signs of Strength
This week, the media highlighted that the share price of NIO Inc. (NIO), the Chinese smart electric vehicle manufacturer, fell after management announced a $1 billion share offering to raise capital. The funds are intended to finance projects such as the development of EV charging infrastructure.
Indeed, on 10 September, a wide bearish gap appeared on the chart, but by 11 September (yesterday) the bulls had almost entirely recovered the decline. This indicates bullish strength, possibly supported by a solid fundamental backdrop, driven by:
→ the expansion of NIO’s model range (which now includes the budget ONVO brand as well as the premium Firefly series);
→ higher delivery volumes – in the latest reporting quarter the company delivered 72,056 vehicles, up 25.6% compared to the previous period.
The NIO Inc. (NIO) price chart points to further bullish signals.
Technical Analysis of NIO Stock
Price movements are forming an ascending channel (shown in blue), with the following features:
→ The bulls managed to recover from the sharp decline 0→1, after which we observe the 1→6 sequence, typical of a bullish market, as each subsequent low and high is higher than the previous one.
→ Upward impulses are steep, while the subsequent pullbacks (which can be interpreted as a bullish flag pattern, shown in red) look like healthy corrections.
→ Key resistance levels are turning into support. This was the case with $4.40 and $5.30. The black arrow shows that the channel’s median line also acts as support – which led to the price moving above the psychological $6 level.
From a bearish perspective, resistance may be provided by the upper boundary of the current correction zone. However, the third bullish flag could be broken (as were the previous two), which would open the way for NIO’s share price to reach the upper boundary of the blue channel.

EUR/USD Falls Amid Rapidly Changing News Flow
There was important news yesterday. According to Forex Factory:
→ The ECB kept its main refinancing rate at 2.15% (as expected).
→ US data indicated a rise in inflation – albeit a moderate one. On a year-on-year basis, the CPI increased from 2.7% to 2.9%, in line with analysts’ expectations.
At the same time, all incoming news is being assessed by traders in light of the forthcoming Federal Reserve decision – according to media reports, yesterday’s data did not have a significant impact on market sentiment, and a 25-basis-point rate cut is still expected.
EUR/USD market movements suggest a balance, although some bearish signs are emerging.
EUR/USD Technical Analysis
Using key highs and lows, we can draw an ascending channel (highlighted in blue) that began in August.
From a bearish perspective:
→ The 1.17400 level has regained its role as resistance.
→ The steep upward trend from early September (shown in orange) was broken by bears around 1.17525.
Therefore, the 1.17400–1.17525 zone appears to act as a resistance area, which is already influencing the price:
→ Last night, EUR/USD’s rise was halted within this zone.
→ Today, a move above 1.17400 led to a sharp downward reversal.
Overall, this behaviour has formed a bearish double top pattern.
From a bullish perspective:
→ Yesterday, the price formed a long lower shadow (indicated by the arrow).
→ During the subsequent rise, buyer aggressiveness was confirmed. There can be a bullish Fair Value Gap pattern, and this area (where buyers and sellers create an imbalance) may act as support.
However, if the bears continue to assert their emerging dominance, the FVG area could be broken, in which case it may then act as resistance.

Gold Price Stabilises Ahead of Central Bank Decisions
Following the ECB’s decision last week to leave interest rates unchanged, traders will closely monitor this week’s monetary policy announcements from the US Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, the Bank of Japan, and other central banks from Toronto to Taipei.
As the XAU/USD chart shows today, the gold price has stabilised after its recent record highs, with investors adopting a wait-and-see stance. The ADX indicator is trending lower, suggesting a diminishing directional momentum.
Key Drivers Influencing Gold Prices
Market participants are almost fully convinced that the Federal Reserve will cut rates by a quarter point this week, while also pricing in the likelihood of further reductions next year amid signs of labour market weakness. Lower rates are generally seen as supportive for gold, making it a more attractive asset relative to yield-bearing US Treasuries.
Additional factors underpinning bullish sentiment include:
→ Weakness in the US dollar.
→ Persistent geopolitical tensions.
→ Pressure on the Fed from Donald Trump, who recently attempted to dismiss Board Governor Lisa Cook.
→ Central bank gold purchases.
On the other hand, profit-taking could dampen demand. Nevertheless, gold prices remain elevated.
Technical Analysis of XAU/USD
Recently, we outlined three reasons why gold’s rally might pause. Since then, the price has consolidated within the $3,610–3,660 range.
This has confirmed the assumption that the median line of the long-term ascending channel is acting as resistance. The steep upward channel (marked with orange lines) has been broken.
What Could Happen Next
→ From a bullish perspective, the resistance levels at $3,510 and $3,575 have been broken to the upside and successfully retested – a sign of strong demand.
→ From a bearish perspective, the candlestick’s long upper shadow, where gold set its record high, reflects aggressive selling pressure.
An attempt to break below the $3,575 support level and the orange dotted line (an additional support trendline plotted beneath the orange channel) could happen.
However, whether this scenario materialises will largely depend on upcoming central bank announcements. Traders should brace for heightened volatility.

Oracle (ORCL) Stock Price Pulls Back After Historic Surge
On 10 September 2025, ORCL shares soared by 36% in a single trading session:
→ the price reached an all-time high above $340;
→ Oracle’s co-founder and chairman, Larry Ellison, briefly became the world’s richest individual.
Why Did ORCL Shares Surge?
The rally was triggered by announcements of several multibillion-dollar deals in cloud infrastructure for artificial intelligence. Oracle revealed contracts worth a total of $300 billion, with clients including OpenAI, Nvidia, SoftBank, Meta, and Elon Musk’s xAI.
According to media reports:
→ CEO Safra Catz stated that the company’s Remaining Performance Obligations (RPO) could soon exceed $500 billion;
→ analysts and investors began drawing comparisons between Oracle and Nvidia, positioning Oracle as a key player in the AI ecosystem by providing essential cloud infrastructure.
However, by the end of the week, ORCL shares had retreated by roughly 15% from their peak.
Technical Analysis of ORCL
After such a steep rally, many holders likely took profits, contributing to the pullback. In addition, strong overbought signals emerged following last week’s bullish gap, indicated by:
→ the RSI indicator;
→ a price breakout above the upper boundary of the long-term channel (shown in blue);
→ the advance beyond the psychological $300 level.
Although Oracle’s long-term outlook remains highly promising, the company still holds a smaller share of the cloud services market compared with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
At present, we could assume that the market has entered a corrective phase, with ORCL potentially retracing to the $270–280 area, where a cluster of support levels is located:
→ the median line of the medium-term (orange) channel;
→ the 50% Fibonacci retracement of the A→B impulse;
→ the upper boundary of the blue channel, which may switch its role to act as support.
Additional support could be found at $260 and at the lower edge of the gap near $240 if the correction deepens. Overall, however, given the long-term impact of the recently secured contracts, Oracle’s prospects in cloud computing and AI remain robust.

S&P 500 Index Holds Near Record High Ahead of Fed Announcement
At 21:00 GMT+3 today, the Federal Reserve will announce its interest rate decision, followed by Jerome Powell’s press conference. The rate is widely expected to be cut from 4.25%–4.50% to 4.00%–4.25%.
This will conclude a prolonged intrigue fuelled by President Trump:
→ his constant criticism of Powell for pursuing an “overly tight” policy;
→ the decision to dismiss Federal Reserve Board member Lisa Cook, which markets perceived as direct pressure on the regulator’s independence.
In anticipation of the outcome, traders are showing optimism. The S&P 500 index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) reached a new all-time high yesterday, climbing above 6,640 points. This morning the price pulled back slightly, which can be interpreted as a short-term correction ahead of a key event. Effectively, the market has already priced in the expected policy easing, viewing it as a catalyst for further growth.
Technical Analysis of the S&P 500 Chart
Six days ago, when analysing the 4-hour chart of the S&P 500 (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen), we noted that:
→ the price was oscillating within an upward channel (marked in blue);
→ in September, the index has been following a steep bullish trajectory (marked in orange), with its lower line showing signs of support.
Since then, favourable inflation data helped the bulls break above the channel’s upper boundary (highlighted with an arrow).
Possible scenarios:
Bullish perspective:
→ The breakout candle above the blue channel has a long body, signalling strong buying momentum – an imbalance, also known in Smart Money Concept (SMC) as a Fair Value Gap (FVG).
→ The local level of 6,600, once resistance, has now turned into support; the next target could be the psychological level of 6,700.
→ The price is consolidating above the blue channel’s upper boundary, indicating robust demand.
Bearish perspective:
→ The upper boundary of the orange channel may act as resistance.
→ The RSI indicator, although off overbought territory, remains close to it – potentially deterring buyers from entering at elevated prices.
Taking all of this into account, the current balance could easily be disrupted once the Fed announces its rate decision – arguably the most significant event of the month in the economic calendar. Be prepared for spikes in volatility, as sharp moves in either direction are possible.

Double Blow for the USD/CAD Market
Today, the USD/CAD market faces a “double blow” from central banks:
→ At 16:45 GMT+3, the Bank of Canada will announce its decision. The rate is expected to be cut from 2.75% to 2.50%.
→ At 21:00 GMT+3, the Federal Reserve will follow with its own rate announcement.
Both events will be accompanied by statements from the central bank chairmen on future outlooks, and the USD/CAD market is likely to experience heightened volatility today.
Technical Analysis of the USD/CAD Chart
When analysing the USD/CAD chart earlier this month, we noted the formation of a symmetrical narrowing triangle (a sign of balance between supply and demand), bounded by:
→ a long-term descending channel (red), which has been in place since early February;
→ a short-term channel (blue), shaped by price fluctuations since mid-summer.
At that time, we suggested that supply and demand forces would keep USD/CAD in a temporary state of equilibrium until today.
Since then:
→ the price has reversed sharply from the upper boundary of the triangle (marked with an arrow);
→ on the eve of key announcements, the pair is attempting to consolidate below the lower boundary, signalling bearish pressure (in other words, a shift in balance in favour of supply).
Key observations:
→ the aggressive nature of the September support breakout (S);
→ the decline towards the critical 1.3725 level, which has acted as support since August.
Given the above, we could assume that the market is leaning bearish. Today’s announcements could trigger a downward impulse in USD/CAD – in this context, the chart may be interpreted through:
→ a potential breakout of the bearish flag pattern (formed by the blue channel);
→ prospects for the resumption of the broader downtrend within the red channel.

Gold Price Falls After Fed Decision
Yesterday, as expected, the Fed lowered its rate from 4.25%–4.50% to 4%–4.25%. Although rate cuts are generally seen as supportive for gold, the XAU/USD chart shows bearish price dynamics: after a short-term spike above $3700 (a new all-time high), gold retreated sharply, forming a long bearish candlestick (marked with a red arrow).
This may be explained by the fact that expectations of a rate cut had already been priced in, while at the press conference the Fed Chair struck a less “dovish” tone than the market had hoped for. While Jerome Powell did voice concerns about the labour market, he gave no clear signal of readiness for aggressive or rapid further cuts.
Technical Analysis of the XAU/USD Chart
At the start of the week, we:
→ drew a steep ascending channel (shown with orange lines);
→ suggested a potential move lower towards the orange dashed line (an additional support line plotted beneath the channel).
Indeed, the dashed line acted as support today. What are the possible scenarios?
Bearish view:
→ the long upper shadow of the candlestick marked with the arrow clearly points to strong selling pressure;
→ the price only briefly broke above the psychological $3700 level – a bull trap (or Liquidity Grab in Smart Money Concept terms);
→ $3675 has flipped from support to resistance.
Bullish view:
→ the dashed trendline has confirmed its role as support – it may help the price move towards the midline of the orange channel;
→ the $3600–$3625 area looks like solid backing. Following the rally in early September, gold repeatedly found support there without falling below it.
Considering that in early September the price was around $3450, the market still looks bullish overall. However, as we recently outlined three reasons why gold’s advance could stall, it now seems that the black line, drawn through lower lows, may serve as another bearish signal – this time on the lower timeframe.

Nasdaq 100 Analysis: Index Hits All-Time High
As the chart shows, today the Nasdaq 100 index (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) has, for the first time in history, climbed above the 24,500 level.
According to media reports, bullish sentiment was driven by the long-awaited Fed decision to cut interest rates for the first time in 2025.
Although the Fed also indicated it would remain cautious about further cuts, the easing acted as a bullish catalyst for the entire stock market – European equities also advanced today, with technology companies leading the way.
Technical Analysis of the Nasdaq 100 (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen)
When looking at the Nasdaq 100 index (US Tech 100 mini on FXOpen) within the context of the September rally (highlighted by the blue channel), we note the following:
→ In mid-September, price action reflected market optimism, as the index traded in the upper half of the channel – with resistance at the upper boundary (R) and support at line S.
→ Yesterday’s volatility spike produced a similar move (marked with an arrow) to the one we highlighted in today’s earlier gold analysis, namely a sharp reversal from the lower boundary of the channel (essentially a bullish engulfing pattern, albeit less clear due to volatility and the chosen timeframe).
Following the reversal from the lower boundary, which unfolded aggressively (a sign of bullish conviction), the price advanced steadily, breaking through key levels:
→ the midline of the blue channel;
→ the R2 resistance line shown in red;
→ the former all-time high at 24,165.
Moreover, the index’s behaviour around 24,300 demonstrated the persistence of buyers – the price moved above a cluster of local resistances and then extended its rally.
Bearish view:
→ bullish momentum has pushed the RSI indicator into overbought zone;
→ when attempting to break above the psychological 24,500 level, the price failed to hold, suggesting a false bullish breakout.
Given the above, we could assume that optimism prevails in the market, supported by the Fed’s decision:
→ on the one hand, further gains towards the upper boundary of the blue channel may take place;
→ on the other hand, the market may be overheated and vulnerable to a correction (for instance, back towards the blue midline).

#META #stockmarket #stocks #MarketUpdates #marketanalysis
Meta Platforms (META) Shares Hold Steady After Mishap
An awkward moment occurred at the Meta Connect 2025 product presentation, where Mark Zuckerberg showcased innovations but ran into technical glitches:
→ The AI assistant built into the Ray-Ban Display smart glasses froze;
→ The neural bracelet, designed to control the interface with gestures, failed to answer a video call.
News of the mishap quickly spread across social media, with the blame for the issues pinned on Wi-Fi. Despite the reputational blow, META shares showed resilience. This suggests that investors are focusing on deeper, fundamental factors, including the potential of augmented reality and the social media giant’s drive for greater efficiency.
Technical Analysis of META Chart
Analysing META’s chart a month ago, we:
→ Drew an ascending channel and a resistance area from the bearish gap (shown in purple);
→ Noted that the price was around its median;
→ Listed bearish signals and suggested a correction, pointing out that in such a case bulls might step in at support around $747 or the channel’s lower boundary.
Indeed, since then (as shown by the dashed arrow):
→ The price fell to the channel’s lower boundary and then rebounded (confirming bullish activity);
→ A bearish breakout attempt failed, and the price returned to the channel, forming a bullish gap (shown in yellow), which acted as support on 12 September.
How Might the Price Move Next?
From a bullish perspective:
→ The ascending channel remains valid, while the price is holding within a steeper growth channel (highlighted in turquoise).
→ The $764 level has switched its role from resistance to support.
→ As shown by the red lines, META’s price action over the past two months can be viewed as a large bullish flag (a corrective pattern within an uptrend) with the potential for trend continuation.
From a bearish perspective:
→ Pressure may come from the psychological $800 per share level.
→ The bearish gap area acts as resistance, as indicated by the black arrow.
→ It is possible that if the price falls below the channel’s lower boundary, the median could act as resistance.
Taking all of this into account, we could assume that bullish sentiment (supported by the Fed’s rate cut) may persist, although the $790–800 area appears to be a key obstacle for META shares.

#DXY #dollar #tradingtips #marketanalysis #MarketNews
What Was Important for the US Dollar Index (DXY) This Week
The long-awaited event — the Fed’s first rate cut of 2025 — has taken place. What is particularly important to note is the price action on the US Dollar Index (DXY) chart.
The value of the USD against a basket of other currencies made a two-step move, forming a pin-bar candle with a long lower shadow:
→ Arrow 1: When the Fed actually announced the easing, the dollar weakened as expected on this “dovish news.”
→ Arrow 2: But at the subsequent press conference, Fed Chair Jerome Powell delivered a series of “hawkish” remarks that shifted the market mood and drove the dollar higher. He stressed that this cut does not mark the beginning of “a series of continuous rate reductions,” and that further decisions will be taken “based on incoming economic data.”
Powell also stated plainly that the option of a more aggressive 50-basis-point cut had not gained sufficient support among FOMC members. Therefore, the “down-then-up” move highlights a sharp change in trader sentiment within a short timeframe, as expectations failed to materialise.
Technical Analysis of the DXY Chart
In our 9 September analysis, we confirmed the relevance of:
→ the descending channel (shown in red) defined by a sequence of lower highs and lower lows;
→ the intermediate QL and QH lines, which divide the channel into quarters.
Notably, at Wednesday’s low the price:
→ touched the QL line, underscoring its strength;
→ formed a clear Liquidity Grab pattern (in the terminology of the Smart Money Concept methodology).
From the perspective of Richard Wyckoff’s method, Wednesday’s low may be viewed as a Spring pattern, which preceded a Mark-Up phase of rising prices.
How Might Events Unfold Next?
Given the above, we could assume that the hawkish tone could serve as a longer-term factor for the DXY index. The 97.55 level appears to act as resistance, but it is possible that we may see an attempt to break through it, with the next target being the QH line.
