Silver Price Hits 14-Year High
As shown on the XAG/USD chart, today the price of silver has climbed above $43.60 per ounce for the first time since 2011.
This may reflect expectations that the recent Federal Reserve interest rate cut will provide a boost to the global economy, where demand for silver is strengthening due to the growth of sectors such as solar energy, electric vehicles, and electronics. In addition, XAG/USD gains further support from gold, which today set a new record high above $3,720.
Technical Analysis of the XAG/USD Chart
When analysing XAG/USD price movements earlier this month, we:
→ drew an ascending blue channel;
→ noted that silver had encountered a resistance block;
→ suggested a possible corrective scenario towards the psychological $40 level.
Since then, the black line (S) has:
→ proved itself as a strong support level, preventing a decline towards $40;
→ provided enough local pivot points to update the slope of the blue channel.
As of today, silver has broken above the upper boundary of this channel (highlighting strong demand). At the same time:
→ the RSI indicator is in overbought territory;
→ the price is positioned at the upper boundary of a steeper short-term uptrend, plotted from fluctuations over the past month (shown in orange).
Thus, we could assume that XAG/USD is currently vulnerable to a correction following a nearly 10% rally since the beginning of the month, as buyers are likely tempted to take profits.
Should a pullback occur in the near term, silver may find support:
→ around $42.35 – a level that has repeatedly switched roles between resistance and support;
→ at the lower boundary of the orange channel.
Looking further ahead, we may well witness fresh records for both silver and gold before year-end – particularly if the news flow continues to fuel trader expectations of additional Fed rate cuts and inflation concerns persist.

Intel (INTC) Shares Trade Around $30
In August, we noted that:
→ Intel (INTC) shares gained strong bullish momentum following reports that the US government was in talks to acquire a stake in the company;
→ the INTC chart was signalling that the depressed market, in place since 2021, was undergoing a fundamental shift in sentiment, with a potential rally foundation being formed.
Last month also brought the official announcement that Japanese conglomerate SoftBank Group would invest $2 billion in Intel. September, in turn, delivered further reasons for price gains:
→ On 18 September 2025, Nvidia officially announced a $5 billion investment in Intel and the launch of a multi-year strategic partnership. This came as a shock to the market: instead of competing, the two giants decided to join forces in developing new products. INTC shares gapped strongly higher, surpassing the psychological $30 mark for the first time this year.
→ More recently, Bloomberg reported that Apple is also considering investing in Intel. Although this remains at the level of speculation (with no official confirmation from either side), INTC shares rose by more than 6% yesterday.
Technical Analysis of INTC Shares
In earlier chart analysis, we highlighted the importance of the $20 level, which appeared to act as support from large players. This may have reflected confidence that the government would not allow a strategically important US company to be left behind in difficult times, particularly in the context of technological competition with China.
For many months, INTC shares had been in decline (shown by the red line). However, the price action in August–September has broken this pattern, confirming earlier assumptions. Higher lows and higher highs in 2025 have established an ascending channel (shown in blue), with key features as follows:
→ in early September, the price consolidated near the median, signalling a balance between supply and demand around $25;
→ September’s bullish news shifted the balance in favour of buyers, with INTC stock jumping towards the upper boundary of the channel.
From a bearish standpoint, potential obstacles to further growth include:
→ the psychological $30 level (which acted as support in May);
→ the upper boundary of the blue channel.
Although the market looks overbought, it is possible that:
→ buyers may refrain from taking profits in anticipation of longer-term gains;
→ and if positive rumours of further investment in Intel continue to be confirmed, this could drive an extension of the upward trend — potentially along a steeper trajectory (shown in orange).

USD/CHF Holds Steady Following Central Bank Decision
Today, the Swiss National Bank (SNB) decided to keep its interest rate unchanged at zero, in line with analysts’ expectations.
Notably:
→ The SNB’s interest rate remains arguably the lowest among central banks of developed economies;
→ According to official statements, the main obstacle to Swiss economic growth is Trump’s tariffs.
Technical Analysis of the USD/CHF Chart
In 2025, the Swiss franc strengthened — which is unsurprising given the high demand for safe‑haven assets (as evidenced by gold’s record high) amid rising geopolitical and macroeconomic risks. At the same time, lower highs and lows have allowed the construction of a descending channel on the USD/CHF chart (shown in red).
However, a closer look at recent price dynamics suggests there are grounds to believe that the downtrend may be coming to an end. Why?
Firstly, the price is holding in the upper half of the channel, indicating insufficient selling pressure.
Secondly, consider the strength of the 0.7900 support level. In July, it prevented the market from falling further after the breach of the 0.8080 support level, and it continues to hold in September — note the price behaviour indicated by the arrow:
→ A bearish breakout attempt failed. After a brief dip below 0.7900, the price confidently returned above this level.
→ The median of the descending channel acted as support, and the chart shows lows that exhibit signs of an Inverse Head and Shoulders pattern.
This suggests that:
→ The current red channel may be broken in the near term, potentially driven by factors supporting USD strength;
→ There may be a bullish attempt to establish a rally, with targets indicated in blue.

#EURUSD #tradingtips #tradingforex #marketanalysis #MarketNews
EUR/USD Falls Ahead of PCE Index Release
A week ago, we wrote about significant changes in the dollar index – the DXY chart was signalling bullish trends. This week has confirmed those assumptions, which is also reflected in EUR/USD: this morning, the pair fell below 1.1660, marking a three-week low.
Trader sentiment is being influenced by:
→ News regarding President Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on pharmaceuticals (and other goods) imported into the US.
→ Expectations for the release of the Core PCE (Personal Consumption Expenditures) Price Index, scheduled for 15:30 GMT+3 – the data may provide important guidance on the inflation outlook and potential US interest rate cuts.
EUR/USD Technical Analysis
EUR/USD fluctuations over the past few months have formed an ascending channel (shown in blue), providing an important context for interpreting price dynamics.
From a bullish perspective:
→ The price is near a key support line – the lower boundary of the channel;
→ The recent dip below the 11 September low (1.1660) can be viewed as a bullish Liquidity Grab pattern;
→ The RSI indicator has fallen into oversold territory.
From a bearish perspective, mid-September saw important reversal signals:
→ The median of the ascending channel acted as resistance;
→ The break above July’s high was short-lived (potentially trapping buyers) – a sign of a false breakout;
→ A long upper wick on candle A of the EUR/USD chart indicated seller aggression.
A logical continuation of these signals has been the formation of a series of lower highs and lows A→B→C→D, with:
→ Each recovery reaching roughly 50% of the preceding downward impulse;
→ Note (as shown by the arrow) that the bounce from 1.7250 was extremely weak (resembling a Dead Cat Bounce pattern), confirming rising selling pressure.
Given the above, it is reasonable to suggest that the lower boundary of the multi-month channel may act as strong support for EUR/USD. However, clear seller initiative increases the likelihood of a bearish breakout. Whether this occurs today will depend on the market’s reaction to the PCE index release.

Apple Shares (AAPL) Close to Reaching Record High
On 10 September, we noted that following the launch of new products — including the iPhone 17 — AAPL shares had fallen by approximately 1.5%, as analysts considered the model lacked the breakthrough appeal necessary to drive further growth.
However, two weeks on, media reports point to strong demand for the new product range, highlighting that:
→ orders for the new devices exceed those for last year’s iPhone 16 series;
→ Apple has asked suppliers to increase production;
→ the base model, featuring the long‑awaited 120Hz display and the powerful A19 chip, is in especially high demand.
Positive reports of long queues at Apple Stores worldwide, along with extended delivery times — which Bank of America estimates at an average of 18 days compared to 10 days for last year’s model — have only bolstered bullish sentiment. AAPL shares are rising this week, even as broader market indices are falling.
Technical Analysis of Apple (AAPL) Shares
AAPL stock price movements in 2025 form a broad ascending channel (shown in blue). In this context:
→ Until early August, the price remained in a consolidation phase (shown by black lines) below the channel’s median;
→ Since then, the balance has shifted in favour of buyers — the price has demonstrated bullish momentum, forming a steep growth channel (shown in orange), with the median providing support (indicated by an arrow).
The strength of demand is confirmed by AAPL’s price action rising from $240 to $250:
→ bullish candlesticks were wide;
→ closing prices were close to the highs;
→ a bullish gap is visible on the chart.
This points to a buyers’ imbalance, giving grounds to regard this area as support in terms of a Fair Value Gap pattern.
From a bearish perspective:
→ the RSI indicator is in overbought territory;
→ shareholders may wish to take some profits.
Nevertheless, it cannot be ruled out that AAPL’s price growth will continue, driven by expectations that strong demand for the iPhone 17, as well as the updated Apple Watch Series 11 and AirPods Pro 3 with new AI features, will deliver record quarterly revenue for the company, covering the upcoming holiday season. In this scenario, bulls may target the upper boundary of the blue channel.

The S&P 500 Index Remains Positive Against the Odds
Today, the S&P 500 Index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) is trading close to a new all-time high, having opened Monday above 6,675 points. This reflects continued optimism among market participants despite factors such as:
→ The risk of a U.S. government shutdown on 1 October.
Today, President Trump will meet with Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress to try to prevent a halt to government funding. However, Reuters reports that chances of reaching an agreement are slim. At the same time, Bank of America analysts remain calm, noting that a shutdown would shave only around 0.1% off GDP per week, and historically such closures have had little impact on financial markets.
→ Jerome Powell’s hawkish stance at the September Federal Reserve meeting.
Nevertheless, most market participants expect the Fed to make another move towards cutting rates at its next meeting on 29 October. The publication of the PCE index on Friday increased this likelihood, as the figures came in line with forecasts, reducing the risk of a renewed inflation surge.
Technical Analysis of the E-mini S&P 500 Chart
On 17 September, analysing the 4-hour chart of the S&P 500 Index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen), we noted:
→ the price continues to fluctuate within an ascending channel, highlighted in blue;
→ the long body of the bullish candle on 11 September points to strong buyer pressure, indicating an imbalance, or, in Smart Money Concept terminology, a Fair Value Gap (FVG).
At present, the channel remains relevant, but it has expanded — bullish sentiment has shifted the key line (marked in orange) from resistance to support. At the same time, the FVG zone has confirmed its role as support.
Possible developments: the chart indicates a buyer advantage:
→ strong demand near the channel’s median (evident in the long lower shadows from Friday, marked with an arrow);
→ buying activity has been strong enough to push the price back (for now) within the ascending channel.
If buyer dominance continues, this could lead to a new all-time high, testing the upper boundary of the channel. From a bearish perspective:
→ the psychological level of 6,700 could act as resistance;
→ continued growth at Monday’s open could push the RSI indicator into overbought territory, creating potential for a correction.
However, as long as the S&P 500 Index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) remains above the orange support line, there is reason to believe that the bulls remain in control.

#tsla #stockmarket #stocktrading #marketanalysis #MarketUpdates
Tesla (TSLA) Share Price Rises Ahead of Earnings Report
On 16 September, we noted signs of a strong market for Tesla (TSLA) shares, including:
→ The price remaining above the psychological level of $400;
→ Reaching the highest levels since late January.
We also identified an ascending channel and suggested that the long-term outlook remained optimistic, although a correction could not be ruled out.
Since then, TSLA shares have stabilised near the upper boundary of the channel, holding above the $400 level. On Friday, they were among the market leaders, rising by more than 4%. This brings the gain since the start of September to around +30%.
Why Are TSLA Shares Rising?
Key factors supporting a bullish outlook include:
→ Sentiment ahead of the quarterly Production and Deliveries report, expected this week. According to recent forecasts, actual figures could exceed expectations (although still showing a decline compared to the previous year).
→ Target price upgrades. Dan Ives of Wedbush, one of Tesla’s most prominent bulls, last week raised his target price to $600 — the highest on Wall Street — citing substantial potential in AI and robotaxi development.
→ The “Musk factor”: Discussions around Elon Musk stepping away from politics are seen as a long-term positive driver.
Technical Analysis of TSLA Shares
The ascending channel remains intact. However, the chart suggests that the upper boundary now acts as resistance — unsurprising given the exceptional gains in September (noting that TSLA’s price has doubled since its yearly low). A slowdown in momentum is signalled by a bearish divergence on the RSI indicator.
Resistance at the upper boundary is further reinforced by a strong bearish reversal from late 2024. A similar pattern was recently observed when the price struggled to break above the bearish reversal zone at $345–355, resulting in an extended sideways movement in August and early September.
By analogy, the $445–465 zone may also act as resistance — meaning a correction remains a plausible scenario. For example, TSLA stock price could pull back to test the psychological $400 level, which is supported by the median of the current channel.

Analysis of MU Shares Following Earnings Report
Memory chip manufacturer Micron Technology (MU) published a positive financial report for Q4 of fiscal year 2025 on 23 September:
→ Q4 Revenue: Actual = $11.32 billion, up 46% compared with the same period last year.
→ Adjusted Earnings Per Share (EPS): Actual = $3.03 (analysts’ expectations = $2.87).
The main driver behind these strong results was heightened demand for high-performance memory needed for data centres and AI model training. Micron also published an optimistic outlook, forecasting revenue of between $12.2 billion and $12.8 billion in the next quarter.
Despite strong results and guidance, the share price reaction in the first week after publication has been moderate. Trading volumes were significantly above average, yet the price did not rise. Why?
1 → It is worth noting that Micron shares have nearly doubled in value since the start of 2025, which may indicate “bull fatigue.”
2 → A significant portion of the positive expectations tied to the AI boom is already priced into the current valuation.
Technical analysis shows more bearish signals.
Technical Analysis of MU Shares
Since early April, Micron shares have shown staggering growth of approximately 150%, with:
→ Price fluctuations forming an ascending channel (shown in blue). After breaking through the key resistance level at $130 in early September, the price rose towards the upper boundary of the channel, which now acts as resistance.
→ During this rise, the price exceeded the previous all-time high; however, further progress has clearly slowed. It is possible that the news of the record high, combined with a strong earnings report, created a buying frenzy that allowed large shareholders to take profits, thereby placing pressure on the price.
From a bullish perspective, the chart shows a correction pattern in the form of a “bull flag” (marked in red), suggesting a potential breakout and continuation of growth.
However, given the above, there are grounds to expect a deeper correction — for example, towards the median of the current channel, supported by a wide $135–150 zone (marked in purple), where the price previously rose particularly quickly, highlighting an imbalance in favour of buyers.

Gold Prices Plunge from Historic Peak
As shown by the XAU/USD chart, yesterday gold prices reached a new all-time high, surpassing the $3,870 level for the first time. This rise was supported by concerns over the high likelihood of a US government shutdown.
According to media reports:
→ Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the US is heading towards a government shutdown, blaming the Democrats.
→ “We have very large disagreements,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Fears over the potential impact of a shutdown boosted demand for safe-haven assets, including gold. However, today XAU/USD has dropped sharply. What might this mean?
Technical Analysis of the XAU/USD Chart
In our previous analysis of gold prices, we drew an ascending channel, which remains intact.
Within the context of this channel, it is worth noting that each time the price exceeds its upper boundary, this tends to trigger a correction, a consequence of the market being overbought (in most cases confirmed by the RSI indicator).
Yesterday, during heightened activity in the US trading session, gold prices moved significantly above the upper boundary of the channel, leaving the market vulnerable to a correction. For this reason, today’s decline during the European session can be explained by traders reassessing risks, as well as profit-taking after a rise of more than 11% since the start of the month.
Note the speed of the decline — it indicates strong conviction among the bears. Overall, yesterday’s rise combined with today’s sharp fall can be interpreted as a bearish engulfing pattern. This strengthens the case for a deeper correction towards the psychological $3,800 level, where the median of the channel lies (possible support levels are marked in purple).
Therefore, it is possible that bulls exhausted their momentum yesterday, and for an upward trend to resume, another consolidation period with the formation of a “bull flag” pattern may be required.

Silver Price: October Kicks Off with a 14-Year High
As the XAG/USD chart shows, today silver prices climbed above the $47.50 per ounce mark for the first time since 2011. Since the beginning of the month, silver has appreciated by approximately 15%.
Why is silver rising?
According to media reports, demand for so-called safe-haven assets has intensified amid the US government shutdown, which officially began on 1 October. President Trump has placed the blame on Democrats, while maintaining optimism that the shutdown could be leveraged to streamline the work of federal agencies.
Trading Economics further highlights that the Silver Institute forecasts a deficit in the global silver market. Production is expected at 844 million ounces – around 100 million ounces short of demand, which continues to be driven by the expansion of solar energy, consumer electronics, and data centres.
Technical analysis of the XAG/USD chart
On 22 September, when analysing the XAG/USD chart, we:
→ Drew a long-term upward blue channel, along with a steeper orange channel indicating accelerated growth.
→ Noted that the silver price had broken above the upper boundary of the blue channel and suggested that XAG/USD was in a vulnerable position for a potential correction.
Shortly thereafter (as shown by the red arrow), the price encountered resistance. However, it was insufficient to trigger a pullback, as the upper boundary of the blue channel acted as support (S), allowing silver to continue its ascent within the orange channel.
Yesterday, when reviewing the gold chart, we noted a sharp decline in precious metals at the start of Monday’s session. Although bulls managed to recover during the US session (signalling robust demand), bears remain present – underscored by today’s failure to hold above Monday’s high (marked by the black arrow).
Applying any oscillator (such as RSI) will likely reveal signs of bearish divergence, pointing to a weakening bullish momentum.
Taking the above into account, we could assume that:
→ The market remains bullish. While demand forces may be losing steam, the momentum of the rally could continue to play a significant role.
→ A correction is possible – for example, towards the lower boundary of the orange channel (S2), which is reinforced by a bullish FVG (an imbalance zone favouring buyers).

Pfizer Inc. (PFE) and Other Pharmaceutical Stocks Rise Following Trump’s Decision
According to media reports, US President Donald Trump launched a website allowing Americans to purchase medicines directly. He announced that Pfizer would offer some of its drugs on this platform and introduce new medicines to the US market at reduced prices. Trump added that his administration is working with other companies, including Eli Lilly, to reach “similar agreements.”
Reports state that Pfizer’s deal with the Trump administration will enable patients to receive significant discounts. In return, the company will receive a three-year exemption from any tariffs.
The news pushed pharmaceutical stocks to the top of yesterday’s gainers list:
→ Pfizer Inc. (PFE) rose by 6.8%
→ Merck & Co Inc. (MRK) rose by 6.8%
→ Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY) rose by 5.0%
Technical analysis of the PFE chart
The chart indicates that:
→ In the long term, PFE’s share price remains in a bearish trend, highlighted by the descending orange channel.
→ However, in April the stock reached its lowest level in nearly 13 years, after which the price began showing an upward trajectory, forming higher highs and higher lows within the ascending blue channel.
A strong fundamental driver yesterday caused PFE’s share price to rebound sharply from the lower boundary of the blue channel towards its median, encountering little resistance when breaking through the September local barrier at $24.75.
It is possible that positive market sentiment will persist and be leveraged by bulls to extend the rally. However, the real test of their resolve might come at resistance near the summer highs around $26.00.
A more substantial obstacle might lie in the $27–27.50 area, where multiple resistances converge, including:
→ the upper boundaries of both the blue and orange channels;
→ key highs from the first half of 2025.
Nonetheless, assuming the fundamental backdrop continues to be supported by positive news on progress in cancer treatments (Pfizer is conducting large-scale developments in this area, aided by its acquisition of Seagen, a pioneer in antibody-drug conjugates, or ADCs), this could lead to an attempt to break the long-term downward trend as early as this year.

Hang Seng Index Hits 4-Year High
As the chart shows, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index (Hong Kong 50 on FXOpen) climbed above the 27,300 mark today – for the first time since summer 2021. The bullish momentum has been supported in part by corporate news. According to media reports:
→ Shares of Chinese EV maker NIO Inc. rose by around 5% following news that vehicle deliveries had increased by 64.1% year-on-year.
→ Shares of Ascletis Pharma Inc. jumped 12.8% after the company announced a share buyback programme.
→ Alibaba shares surged 4% after JPMorgan raised its price target by more than 40%, citing AI industry development and strong user engagement.
Since 1 September, the Hang Seng Index (Hong Kong 50 on FXOpen) has gained over 7%.
Technical Analysis of the Hang Seng Index Chart
In our 23 September review of the index chart, we:
→ highlighted that the price had fallen to the lower boundary of the blue ascending channel;
→ noted signs of demand emerging around the psychological 26,000 level.
Since then (as shown by the arrow), price action has been supported by these levels. On 26 September, bears attempted once more to break below 26k, but failed – giving bulls the opportunity to seize control. This resulted in the formation of a steep upward trajectory, highlighted in orange.
From an optimistic perspective:
→ The market has resumed its uptrend, breaking above the corrective bull flag pattern (shown in red).
→ The September high near the psychological 27,000 level was broken decisively — the long candlestick points to a demand–supply imbalance favouring buyers, reinforcing the relevance of the bullish Fair Value Gap pattern highlighted in purple.
→ The price is now trading in the upper half of the blue channel (a sign of strong demand).
At the same time, the RSI indicator has entered the overbought zone. Once the first wave of positive sentiment fades, a bout of profit-taking could happen, which might trigger a correction — potentially involving a retest of the 27k level or the lower orange line.

The S&P 500 index remains positive against all odds
We noted on 29 September that, amid the US shutdown, sentiment in the S&P 500 index market remained positive, and highlighted factors supporting further growth.
Today, the S&P 500 index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) reached a fresh all‑time high: on Friday morning the price rose above 6 740 points. This confirms the continued optimism among market participants. Today this is supported by news related to the creators of ChatGPT.
According to media reports, OpenAI:
→ has reached a valuation of $500 billion following a deal in which current and former employees sold shares worth around $6.6 billion;
→ is expanding cooperation with semiconductor manufacturers in South Korea, which is expected to sustain the company’s high growth rate.
Thus, OpenAI’s successes are boosting investor optimism ahead of the upcoming earnings season.
These and other positive developments might have been overshadowed by the regular Non‑Farm Employment Change report (and other US labour market data), but the Bureau of Labour Statistics is closed due to the shutdown.
Technical analysis of the S&P 500 chart
Recent data on the 4‑hour chart of the S&P 500 index (US SPX 500 mini on FXOpen) underline sustained optimism, as the price develops within a previously established ascending channel, highlighted in blue.
From a bullish perspective:
→ bulls showed strength by breaking a local resistance level at 6 700, which later acted as support (indicated by an arrow);
→ local peaks allow for steeper upward trendlines to be drawn;
→ if the move from A→B is seen as the main impulse and B→C as a correction, the correction appears shallow, as the reversal upwards occurred from the 0.382 Fibonacci level, highlighting strong demand.
From a bearish perspective:
→ the price is approaching the upper boundary of the channel, where profit‑taking by long holders is typical;
→ the current peak on the e‑mini S&P 500 chart slightly exceeds the October high (A), suggesting the potential for a bearish divergence;
→ the absence of news creates an “information vacuum” that could significantly influence market sentiment if filled with negative data.
Nonetheless, optimism persists, with Tom Lee (Fundstrat) forecasting that the S&P 500 index will exceed 7 000 points by year‑end.

News from France Weighs on European Financial Markets
According to Reuters, France’s new Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, unexpectedly resigned on Monday just hours after appointing his new cabinet.
This news has underscored the deepening political crisis in France and placed significant pressure on European financial markets – this morning:
→ The euro is weakening. The EUR/USD rate has fallen below 1.1660 and is near September’s low.
→ European shares are falling. The French stock index CAC 40 (France 40 on FXOpen) has dropped by around 2%.
Technical Analysis of the EUR/USD Chart
On 26 September we noted that
→ fluctuations in the EUR/USD rate over recent months had formed an ascending channel (shown in blue)
→ under seller pressure, the price had moved towards a strong support line (the lower boundary of the channel).
At that time
→ the rate was at point D;
→ we suggested that the lower boundary of the long-term channel would act as significant support for EUR/USD, noting that clear signs of seller initiative increased the likelihood of an attempt to break the channel bearishly.
Indeed, we subsequently saw the effect of the lower boundary → the price climbed to peak E. However, this emphasised the continuing dominance of bears, as this peak on 1 October extended a series of lower highs and lows A→B→C→D→E.
Today’s euro weakness, driven by the French political crisis:
→ constitutes an important bearish breakout of the long-term ascending channel;
→ provides further grounds for plotting a downward trajectory on the chart (shown in red).
Bulls may hope that further declines will be halted by the 1.1660 level, which has served as support since early September. However, a bearish breakout of this level would open the way for EUR/USD to drop towards the key support at 1.1450.

At that time
→ the rate was at point D;

In this video, we’ll explore the key economic events, market trends, and corporate news shaping the financial landscape. Get ready for expert insights into forex, commodities, and stocks to help you navigate the week ahead. Let’s dive in!
In this episode of Market Insights, Gary Thomson unpacks the strategic implications of the week’s most critical events driving global markets.
👉 Key topics covered in this episode:
🔸 FOMC Minutes and Fed Powell’s Comments
With the Fed minutes and Powell’s speech ahead, traders are eyeing clues on growth, inflation, and future cuts after September’s 25 bp move. Markets could swing on the smallest shift in tone. Will Powell double down on easing or signal caution?
🔸 Canada’s Unemployment Rate
Canada’s jobs data on 10 October could be a market mover, especially with a BoC rate cut expected later this month. August’s surprise rise in unemployment hit the loonie hard, and another shock could spark volatility in CAD pairs. Will Canada’s labour market deliver another downside surprise for the loonie?
🔸 RBNZ Interest Rate Decision
All eyes are on the RBNZ’s policy call on 8 October. After August’s cut, markets widely expect another 25 bps move — though some see a bigger 50 bps slash. Either way, the kiwi could be in for more volatility. Will the RBNZ stick to a steady 25-point cut, or surprise with a bolder move?

USD/JPY Analysis: Yen Weakens to Two-Month Low
As the USD/JPY chart shows, the Japanese yen has weakened sharply at the start of this week. Trading opened with a bullish gap, and today the exchange rate has risen to ¥150.65 per US dollar.
The yen’s decline followed the recent election, during which Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party elected Sanae Takaichi as its new leader, paving the way for her to become the next prime minister. According to Reuters, Takaichi supports the late former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s “Abenomics” strategy, which focuses on stimulating the economy through aggressive spending and ultra-loose monetary policy.
Technical Analysis of the USD/JPY Chart
The political factor has led to a sequence of higher highs and higher lows (A→B→C→D) on the chart – and it is already evident that the next peak, E, will form above the previous one. This suggests that the USD/JPY market has entered an upward trend following a flat phase that was particularly pronounced in August.
At the same time:
→ The A low has a long lower shadow, and the D low shows signs of a double-bottom pattern, indicating strong demand.
→ The ¥149 level may serve as support going forward, marking the edge of the gap.
→ The price has broken above the key psychological level of ¥150 per dollar.
→ These reversal points justify constructing an ascending channel (shown in blue).
The chart highlights the dominance of demand, as the price remains:
→ In the upper half of the channel;
→ Above a curved support line – trajectories of this kind often appear after strong market impulses.
Given the above, it is reasonable to assume that:
→ The USD/JPY rate may continue its upward movement;
→ However, bullish momentum is weakening, as suggested by the potential bearish divergence on the RSI indicator.
It is worth noting that in February and March, the price reversed several times near ¥151 per dollar, which may act as significant resistance – adding weight to the possibility of a corrective move in USD/JPY, perhaps towards the median of the current channel.

AMD Shares Surge After Partnership Announcement with OpenAI
According to media reports:
→ The deal involves AMD supplying processors of various generations to support the deployment of artificial intelligence infrastructure with a total capacity of 6 gigawatts.
→ The partnership is expected to generate billions in revenue for AMD starting in 2026.
→ Barclays analysts have raised their price target for AMD shares from $200 to $300.
The major announcement fuelled a sharp rally of around 30% in AMD’s share price, though this surge triggered aggressive selling pressure near the historic peak around the $227 level.
Technical Analysis of AMD Stock Chart
Price action analysis shows that:
→ The trading session opened with a wide bullish gap, breaking through the key psychological level of $200.
→ The price also surpassed previous resistance levels at $180 and $190.
→ During the session, the price pulled back, forming two large bearish candles on the four-hour chart.
A reasonable interpretation:
→ The initial reaction was highly emotional, but the optimism is fading quickly.
→ The price movement indicates strong bearish activity following the sharp rise.
Selling pressure is being driven by:
→ Investors locking in substantial profits now, as the deal’s financial impact will unfold gradually over time (creating future opportunities to re-enter at lower prices).
→ Technical signs of an overbought market.
Signs that AMD shares may be overbought include:
→ The RSI indicator, which exceeded 80 yesterday.
→ The price opening significantly above the upper boundary of the ascending channel.
Possible Scenarios for AMD Stock Price
Short-term: Bearish activity could drive a correction towards:
→ The median line of the ascending channel, where demand and supply typically balance.
→ The psychological level of $200, which may influence sentiment among traders reacting to the news.
Long-term: AMD shares remain fundamentally attractive, given that:
→ The AI boom continues to serve as a major growth driver.
→ Market participants expect the Federal Reserve to begin cutting interest rates.

NZD/USD Rate Drops Sharply After Central Bank Decision
This morning, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) cut its key interest rate. According to Forex Factory, the Official Cash Rate was reduced by 50 basis points from 3.0% to 2.5%, while most analysts had expected a smaller cut to 2.75%.
Moreover, the RBNZ signalled the prospect of further easing following a recent deterioration in economic data. The decisive move caught traders off guard and led to heightened volatility. As shown on the NZD/USD chart, the New Zealand dollar has fallen to its lowest level against the US dollar since mid-April.
The downward momentum has been reinforced by the strengthening of the US dollar — possibly as investors grow more cautious over a potential government shutdown, prompting them to move into cash.
Technical analysis of the NZD/USD chart
Movements in the kiwi’s exchange rate during the second half of 2025 have formed a descending channel on the chart. Notably, peak F:
→ only slightly exceeds the previous high D;
→ lies above the psychological 0.6000 level;
→ developed with a long upper wick, consistent with the Upthrust (UTAD) pattern described in Wyckoff methodology.
This appears to be a strategic false breakout above the lower-high structure, paving the way for a decline towards the autumn lows and a breakout below the corrective pattern (shown in blue).
From a bearish perspective:
→ the channel’s median line acts as resistance (as shown by the arrows);
→ today’s drop signals an imbalance favouring sellers, forming the basis for a Fair Value Gap resistance zone.
Meanwhile, bulls may hope the lower boundary of the channel once again acts as support in 2025, providing momentum for a rebound within the channel. For this scenario to play out, however, the news backdrop would need to shift. For now, the NZD/USD chart points to bearish dominance — with a potential move down towards the 0.5700 level.

XAG/USD Analysis: Silver Price Growth Slows
This morning, we reported that the price of gold has risen above $4,000 for the first time in history. The surge in this safe-haven asset has been driven by political uncertainty in the United States and other countries, as well as sustained demand from central banks.
Against this backdrop, the XAG/USD chart also draws attention, showing that silver prices are following a bullish trend — though not as confidently as gold. Technical analysis provides further important insights.
Technical Analysis of the XAG/USD Chart
Seven days ago, when analysing the XAG/USD chart, we plotted a steep orange channel indicating an acceleration of growth and suggested that:
→ the market remained bullish;
→ a correction was possible — for example, towards the lower boundary of the orange channel (S2), reinforced by a bullish Fair Value Gap (FVG) shown as a purple imbalance zone favouring buyers.
Indeed, this scenario played out, and the reversal from the identified support block (as shown by the first arrow) occurred with notable momentum. The upward trend then continued, with silver prices remaining within the orange channel, which is still relevant today.
Key details to note:
→ as shown by the line marked R (Resistance), silver has struggled to gain traction around the 48.75 level;
→ as indicated by the blue lines (whose slope is decreasing), buying pressure may be weakening as bulls attempt to break through this level.
Following yesterday’s test of the lower boundary of the channel, the price (as shown by the second arrow) turned upwards — this can be interpreted as bulls having “shaken out” weak holders and regained strength to challenge the 48.75 (R) level.
On this move, they managed to:
→ overcome local resistance at 48.00;
→ form a bullish FVG zone (highlighted in orange);
→ climb into the upper half of the channel.
However, today’s move above 48.75 appears tentative — the XAG/USD chart shows no clear consolidation above this key level. That said, if political turbulence persists, new record highs in gold could well give fresh momentum to the “silver bulls.”

Dollar Index (DXY) Rises to Highest Level in Over Two Months
The chart shows the Dollar Index (DXY) trading above the 99-point level today — its highest since early August. The dollar’s strength is supported by the weakening of other currencies:
→ The yen is weakening amid expectations of looser monetary policy. Conservative Sanae Takaichi could become the first female prime minister in Japan’s history, pursuing substantial spending and economic stimulus.
→ The euro remains under pressure amid France’s political crisis. Following the resignation of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu’s government, President Emmanuel Macron stated he plans to appoint a new prime minister this week.
Will the Dollar Index continue to rise?
Technical Analysis of the DXY Chart
On 19 September, we provided a significant analysis of the DXY chart in which we:
→ Confirmed the relevance of a descending channel (shown in red), which includes intermediate QL and QH lines dividing the channel into quarters.
→ Highlighted a reversal upward from the QL line (shown with an arrow).
→ Suggested a bullish scenario aiming to reach the QH line.
This scenario has indeed unfolded:
→ On 25 September and 6 October (as shown by arrows), the QH line acted as resistance.
→ On 7 October, it was broken upward, underlining bulls’ strength.
Given this, it is reasonable to suggest that bulls remain in control, while:
→ DXY fluctuations since mid-September’s low are forming an upward channel;
→ its upper boundary may act as resistance, potentially triggering a pullback towards the Support line;
→ the upper boundary of the red channel appears to be a key target for the current rally that began last month.
