In Uganda, Thrive Together Initiative is helping women and people with disabilities gain practical skills in digital literacy, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business development.

This is not an abstract initiative. Thrive Together is a registered community-based organization working in Mukono District. According to the organization, its entrepreneurship and business-skills programs have already reached 248 people, including women, youth and people with disabilities.

Now its GrantiX fundraising campaign is within a few dollars of completion.

SUNKELA: FLEXIBLE WORK BUILT AROUND CARE RESPONSIBILITIES

For parents caring for children with disabilities, conventional full-time employment may not be practical.
Sunkela is a social mushroom project in Armenia designed around that reality.
The project combines flexible employment in oyster mushroom production with practical cultivation training.

Its model is intended to help parents:
— earn an income while maintaining essential care responsibilities;
— learn how oyster mushrooms are produced;
— develop skills that may support independent work;
— participate through a schedule adapted to their circumstances.

The campaign also plans to obtain equipment for producing mushroom-growing bags independently.

This could allow the project to expand its production model, create additional flexible jobs and provide selected trainees with mushroom bags they can cultivate themselves. The harvested mushrooms could then be purchased back for use in Sunkela’s production.

This is more than a request for equipment. It is a model connecting care responsibilities, practical skills, flexible employment and a possible path toward small-scale entrepreneurship.
