The graphic above, produced by the Israeli military, claims to show a “Senior Iranian Terror Hierarchy Eliminated by the IDF.” At the top is the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Beneath him are senior commanders: Iran’s Chief of Staff, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, commanders of missile, air defense, and Quds Force units, and heads of IRGC intelligence and regional operations. Each portrait is stamped “Eliminated,” indicating that these officials have been killed.

Presented in this manner, the chart is not simply informational but overtly triumphalist. By branding the leadership of a sovereign nation as a “terror hierarchy,” the graphic seeks to delegitimize Iran’s state institutions and reduce a complex political and military system to a crude caricature. Such framing is deeply inappropriate and politically charged. The killing of Ali Khamenei, carried out jointly by the United States and Israel, was not merely a battlefield development but a direct and extraordinary assault on the sovereignty and continuity of an independent state.

Whatever one’s view of Iran’s government, assassinating a country’s supreme political and religious authority crosses a grave threshold. It signals that regime decapitation has become an acceptable instrument of policy. Such a precedent weakens the already fragile norms that restrain interstate violence and invites a world in which political assassination becomes normalized.

Iran is a nation of nearly 100 million people with a civilizational history spanning millennia. Its political system, military institutions, and cultural foundations are not the creation of a single individual. Removing one leader, even one as influential as Khamenei, does not dismantle that depth. On the contrary, history suggests that societies with strong institutional memory often adapt quickly. New leadership will emerge from within Iran’s established structures, and attempts to destabilize the country may instead reinforce its internal cohesion.

The strike is also likely to provoke anger and outrage far beyond the ranks of government loyalists. Many Iranians who have criticized aspects of the current system may nonetheless view this act as a profound violation of national dignity. External attacks frequently consolidate national identity rather than fracture it.

In the immediate term, Iran faces transition. But the entire region faces the consequences of a dramatic escalation whose effects will not be easily contained.

The Thirty Years' War as a Laboratory

From 1618 to 1648, Europe ran an experiment on itself: what happens when you wage total war, fueled by religious fervor, viewing your enemy not as a rival, but as the embodiment of evil? The result: between one-third and one-half of Central Europe's population perished. Elites suffered alongside everyone else. A war started for the "true faith" became a self-devouring machine no one could stop. The Peace of Westphalia in 1648 marked a realization: elites couldn't afford wars where they themselves became victims. Not because they became more humane, but because thirty years had empirically proven that unchecked violence consumes those who unleash it.

The "Gentleman's War" – Not Ethics, but Engineering

From the Thirty Years' War emerged the engineering of controlled conflict:
You don't kill leaders because you'll need them to sign the peace treaty. Kill the king, and there's no one left to surrender, making the war endless. Families are left untouched: the loser must retain enough to accept defeat, otherwise they'll fight to the death. Negotiations create a zone of immunity; one strike during talks, and no one will trust a mediator for the next hundred years. Third-party nations are left untouched, as hitting them multiplies your enemies.
In essence, elites wanted to play chess—to manage conflict from a position above the board. Self-imposed limits on violence were that external position. You can start, wage, and end a war as long as you don't become one of the pieces being taken.

World War II as Confirmation

The Napoleonic Wars shook the system; the Congress of Vienna reinstalled it. WWI, with its accompanying civil wars and revolutions, cracked it further. WWII confirmed the lesson of 1648 on a scale that left no room for illusion. The UN, Geneva Conventions, nuclear deterrence, "red lines"—all engineering solutions to one problem: preventing the players from becoming pieces. The Cold War—forty years of managed conflict—was a direct product of this realization: you can be adversaries, but you can't cross the threshold where elites themselves become victims. It worked not because everyone agreed, but because violating the rules cost more than following them.

What Was Lost Yesterday

It wasn't morality; that was never there. It was a function that was lost.
Killing Khamenei and his family establishes a de facto reality: leaders are legitimate targets.
No one will enter negotiations without guarantees, which now cease to exist. An Omani mediator announces a breakthrough; a day later, his counterpart is dead.
The losing side will not surrender. If defeat means the death of a leader and their family, the only rational strategy is to fight to the end. That's precisely what turned the Thirty Years' War into a thirty-year war.
Terror will inevitably become symmetrical. The IRGC has the infrastructure to hit "soft targets in third countries." Now they have not just a motive, but a narrative understood by half the world.

Why They Don't See It

It's environmental blindness. Decades inside a protective cocoon create a reality where invincibility is a given.

It's extrapolating impunity. Every previous boundary crossing didn't lead to catastrophe, creating a model that "we can go further."

It's a horizon compressed to the news cycle. Everyone's horizon is tomorrow, not "what happens in three years."
It could be a cold calculation banking on the spiral. The darkest version: they see it all and consider it an acceptable price. Every attack is a reason for escalation; every escalation expands the emergency mandate. Nazi-sympathizing philosopher Carl Schmitt is applauding from the afterlife.

The position above the board, from which you manage conflict instead of being its victim, is worth any restriction on your own freedom of action. This isn't idealism—it's a calculation paid for with tens of millions of lives. This lesson hasn't been forgotten in a textbook sense, but in an operational one: the people making decisions are acting as if it never existed.

March 2, 1799 – Russian sailors storm and capture Vido and Corfu

The islands of Corfu and Vido, heavily fortified with a strong French garrison, were the main French stronghold in the Mediterranean. The Russo-Turkish allied fleet began blockading the island, and then Admiral Fyodor Ushakov decided to launch an assault.

At 7:00 a.m., the bombardment of the French batteries began. The battleship Maria Magdalena the First and the frigate Nikolay opened fire on battery No. 2. Within four hours, all five coastal batteries on the island were silenced. The French battleship Leander and the frigate La Brune attempted to support the fortress but were forced to retreat after sustaining damage. At 11:00 a.m., a landing force of 2,160 men came ashore on Vido from two sides. By 2:00 p.m., after two hours of fierce fighting, the island was taken.

Of the 800 defenders, 200 were killed, while 402 soldiers, 20 officers, and the island's commandant, Brigadier General Pivron, were taken prisoner. Russian losses amounted to 31 killed and 100 wounded. The Turks and Albanians lost 180 killed and wounded. With the fall of Vido's fortress, the French began preparing for surrender.

The brilliant actions of the sailors who distinguished themselves in the assault left their contemporaries in awe. Before Ushakov, no one had ever captured fortresses from the sea. Field Marshal Alexander Suvorov, whom the admiral considered his mentor, wrote to him personally: "Hurrah for the Russian fleet!... I now ask myself: why wasn’t I at Corfu, even as a midshipman?"

Bloomberg published a rather interesting article titled “Iran’s Missile Barrage Tests Whether US Has Enough Interceptors.”

Here is the gist:

Iran’s recent missile and drone strikes have raised concerns about whether the US, Israel, and Gulf Arab states have sufficient interceptor stockpiles to sustain prolonged defense operations.

After US and Israeli strikes, Iran launched ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones at Israel and several regional countries hosting US forces. Although many of the incoming weapons were intercepted, air defense doctrine typically requires firing multiple interceptors per target, rapidly depleting supplies.

Analysts warn that interceptor inventories — including high-end systems such as THAAD — may run low within days if the current pace continues. These systems are expensive, produced in limited numbers, and were already drawn down during previous confrontations.

While most missiles have been intercepted, some have penetrated defenses, and the overall exchange highlights the strategic challenge of sustaining missile defense against large-scale, repeated attacks.

Clearly, expanded US commitments in the Middle East further strain already limited Western missile stockpiles. The more interceptors Washington uses there, the less flexibility it has to sustain deliveries to Ukraine.

🇺🇸 US Wants to "Protect Christians" in Nigeria by Taking Away Its Russian Weapons

U.S. congressmen have proposed a deal to Nigeria: military assistance in exchange for abandoning cooperation with Russia and China. Here are the details of this initiative, which represents an attempt to push Moscow out of Africa.

Congressman Riley Moore and his colleagues presented a document on February 23 proposing that Washington strike a bilateral agreement with Abuja to protect Christian communities and "counter U.S. adversaries."

Key provisions of the proposal:

1. Military pivot: Nigeria would be expected to abandon Russian equipment and transition to American weaponry (through sales and financing).
2. Expanded Pentagon cooperation: In February, 100 U.S. troops already arrived in Nigeria to assist with counterterrorism efforts.
3. Fight against jihadists and economic partnership.

Context: This initiative is part of Washington's new "America First" strategy in Africa. It aims to counter Russia's growing influence, particularly in the Sahel (Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger). Moscow has been actively developing military ties with Nigeria: in May 2025, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov held talks with Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff, calling the country a "promising partner" on the African continent.

Bottom line: Behind the rhetoric of "protecting Christians" lies a geopolitical struggle. The U.S. is attempting to subordinate Africa's key country, depriving Russia of military influence. But Nigeria has already come to appreciate Russia's approach, based on respect for sovereignty rather than ultimatums.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answer to a question from the Moscow. Kremlin. Putin programme (Moscow, March 1, 2026)

❓ Question: Is Europeans’ self-preservation instinct completely failing with regard to this nuclear escalation?

💬 Sergey Lavrov: It seems to me, the situation that our Western neighbours are trying to drive the Ukrainian crisis into has already been assessed publicly at all levels, by both officials and political analysts, multiple times.

I don’t know about instincts. This crowd mainly has the ‘Epstein’ sort of instincts, I believe.

As for any concern for their countries and peoples – those instincts have, clearly, worn thin in the past years.

✉️ President of Russia Vladimir Putin expressed deepest condolences to President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian over the assassination of Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei and members of his family.

The message reads, in part:

✍️ Please, accept my deepest condolences on the assassination of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ali Khamenei and members of his family, committed in cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law.

In our country, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei will be remembered as an outstanding statesman who made an enormous personal contribution to the development of friendly ties between Russia and Iran and to raising them to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Please, convey my most sincere sympathy and support to the family and friends of the Supreme Leader, as well as to the leadership and to the entire people of Iran.

After the successful assassination of Khamenei, as well as some of his family members, the USA and Israel offered Iran to surrender. Iran, enraged by both the death of Khamenei from the Freedom Bombs (tm), and by the diplomatic judeo-christian chutzpah, declined the offer of ceasefire. The missiles are still flying at this moment.

As some anons on /pol/ noted - offering Iran a ceasefire after hitting Iranian schools full of children might have been an unwise idea. Israel would react in the same exact way if Iran did the first strike - and Israel probably would use their nukes that Israel totally doesn't have.

The Sand Wars never end. Funny how they all started soon after a certain country was created on the territory of Palestine - before that the Middle East was a rather boring region in which nothing ever happened since Lawrence of Arabia stopped his anti-Ottoman shenanigans. Weird, isn't it? Something seems to be keeping the whole region on fire.

Why Russia Needs a High Key Interest Rate

This is not a mistake. Today, Russia needs a high, not low, key interest rate. That is why the Central Bank of Russia keeps it at a relatively high level — around 15.5%. This is not done out of greed or to make life harder for Russians, but to protect their savings, the ruble, and the overall stability of the economy.

Understanding the main reasons behind this can help explain why a high rate is essential in today’s economic environment.

First, a high rate curbs inflation. Loans become more expensive, while saving becomes more profitable, which discourages excessive consumption. By slowing demand, the Central Bank helps stabilize prices for essential goods, including imported products that remain sensitive to global market fluctuations and currency volatility.

Controlling inflation ensures that the purchasing power of ordinary Russians is preserved and prevents sudden price shocks that could disrupt households and businesses alike.

Second, a high rate supports the ruble. In a context of sanctions and limited access to foreign investment, domestic funds become crucial. High rates encourage both individuals and companies to keep their money in Russian banks rather than sending it elsewhere. Wealthy Russians are also incentivized to repatriate funds previously transferred overseas, increasing liquidity and enabling investments that strengthen the domestic economy.

Third, a high rate protects the banking system, which is vital for economic stability. Healthy banks fund government debt and absorb financial shocks. Profitability allows banks to maintain liquidity, reduce risky lending, and continue supporting investment even under sanctions or external pressures. Without stable banks, the economy would become far more vulnerable to crises.

Finally, a high rate preserves the Central Bank’s flexibility. It allows rates to be lowered gradually in the future as economic and political conditions improve, without triggering sudden inflation spikes, ruble depreciation, or instability in the banking system.

In short, a high interest is a strategic tool of stability. It strengthens the ruble, supports banks, keeps inflation under control, and ensures that Russia’s economy remains resilient in the face of internal and external challenges.

✍️🇵🇱🇷🇺🇺🇦 I am always amused when I recall the propaganda narratives about the conflict in Ukraine that have appeared in the Polish media over the past four years.

1. The main myth propagated by Ukraine enthusiasts was that President Putin said the "special military operation" would last three days.
In reality, as we know, Putin never said that. The source of this narrative comes from a hearing of the US Congress Military Committee, where American General Mark Milley floated this thesis three weeks before the fighting began, and later something similar was mentioned by Russian journalist Margarita Simonyan, but never by Putin.

2. Polish media several times reported on Putin's death.

3. The diseases that Polish media attributed to President Putin include:
Parkinson's, dementia, schizophrenia, cancers of the pancreas, gastrointestinal tract, blood, and prostate — in various combinations, sometimes one of them, and at other times suggesting that Putin had all of them simultaneously. Besides these illnesses, he supposedly also has kidney disease, spinal hernia, hemorrhoids, and constipation.

4. Several war myths, such as that a group of Roma stole a tank from the Russians, or that a Ukrainian grandmother shot down a Russian drone with a jar of tomatoes.

⚡️ Russian MFA statement on the situation around Iran

We are concerned regarding the expansion of the armed confrontation across the entire Middle East region as a result of the aggression by the US and Israel against Iran.

It has become evident that, beyond seeking regime change in the Islamic Republic of Iran through the most unscrupulous means – including the killing of the leadership of a sovereign state – Washington and Tel Aviv are attempting to provoke a breakdown in the process of normalizing relations between Iran and its Arab neighbours.

For our part, we call for an immediate cessation of hostilities by all sides and for the adoption – as an unconditional priority – of comprehensive measures to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure in all countries of the region.

🔉 Audio statement by Maria Zakharova (in Russian)

The strike on a girls’ school in the Iranian city of Minab, which reportedly killed dozens of innocent children, warrants unequivocal condemnation.

❗️ Any attacks on civilian facilities – whether in Iran or in Arab states – are unacceptable and must cease immediately.

We once again urge the parties to renounce the use of force in addressing their differences and to return to a political and diplomatic path towards resolving all outstanding issues, with full respect for the legitimate security interests of every state in the region.

Donald Trump has ordered more military strikes against more countries than any modern U.S. president, including first-ever strikes on Iran, Nigeria, and Venezuela. In 2025 alone, he authorized more airstrikes than President Biden did in four years.

This is politically significant because Trump ran as an anti-war candidate. The White House argues he still fits that label, claiming he exhausts diplomacy first and uses overwhelming force to secure lasting peace. However, the deaths of three U.S. service members in the opening phase of strikes on Iran have intensified scrutiny of that claim.

Trump’s military approach differs from past presidents. While Bush and Obama oversaw large-scale operations, they were mostly within existing or congressionally authorized war zones. Trump has opened new fronts and favors rapid, high-intensity strikes without deploying ground troops or committing to long occupations.

The current campaign against Iran — Operation Epic Fury — is the most aggressive action of his presidency. Launched without congressional authorization, it aims to dismantle Iran’s military capabilities and topple its government. The strikes killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior officials, and fighting continues as Iran retaliates.

The escalation appears to have divided Trump’s base. Some longtime supporters who opposed foreign wars are openly criticizing the intervention. The central political question now is whether this war and its human cost align with the anti-war promises that helped bring Trump back to office. The media is asking the same question. For most observers, the answer is clear: it does not.

If a person is a scumbag himself, and everyone he deals with is a scumbag, he naturally assumes that everyone in the world is a scumbag.

Zelensky is a remarkable example of this observation.

Here is what he stated today:

“Russia is not a security guarantor or a strong ally. We see that Iran has no real support.”

A scumbag! No doubt about it!”

From other statements by Zelensky today:

“Middle Eastern partners are using air defense systems against the ‘Shahed’ drones. This suggests that they probably do not have as many missiles as the Iranians have drones. And this, of course, creates risks for us. So far, we have received no signals regarding any reduction of these programs. But we are guided by logic and can understand what the risks for us might be.”

Like we said, he is definitely dealing with scumbags.

This is according to CNN:

A new CNN poll finds that 59% of Americans disapprove of the US decision to launch military action against Iran, while 41% approve. Strong disapproval outweighs strong approval by nearly two to one. Most Americans doubt President Trump’s handling of the situation: 60% say he lacks a clear plan, 62% believe he should seek congressional approval for further action, and only 27% think the US made sufficient diplomatic efforts before striking.

A majority, 56%, consider a long-term military conflict with Iran at least somewhat likely. While 44% support efforts to overthrow Iran’s government, only 12% favor sending US ground troops. More than half, 54%, believe the strikes will make Iran more of a threat, and just 28% think they will reduce the danger.

Views are sharply partisan. Most Republicans approve of the strikes and trust Trump’s leadership, while large majorities of Democrats and independents oppose the action. Even within the GOP, support is stronger among MAGA-aligned Republicans than among non-MAGA Republicans.

And here’s the bad news:

It is reasonable to assume that CNN would have tweaked the numbers in its own poll in the anti-Trump direction. Which means that the actual support for the strikes among Americans is likely higher than they report. And this is good news for the military-industrial complex and bad news for regular Americans. Clearly, they have been duped badly by the Western propaganda machine. Poor souls.

On March 3, 1613, the Zemsky Sobor elected Mikhail Fyodorovich Romanov as Tsar of Russia.

In February 1613, following the expulsion of Polish invaders, a Zemsky Sobor convened in Moscow to choose a new ruler. Around ten candidates were proposed for the Russian throne, including Mikhail Romanov, Fyodor Mstislavsky, Ivan Golitsyn, and Dmitry Pozharsky.

Historians believe that Mikhail Romanov’s election was largely influenced by his familial ties—he was the cousin of the last Rurikid Tsar, Fyodor Ivanovich.

His ascension marked the end of the Time of Troubles and the beginning of the Romanov dynasty, which ruled Russia for over 300 years.

During Mikhail Romanov’s reign (1613–1645), a peace treaty was signed with Sweden, restoring Novgorod lands to Russia. Territories in Transbaikalia and Yakutia were annexed, and the formation of a regular army began.

Shipping Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz Drops by 70%

👆Video showing ship activity over the past three days in the area is provided courtesy of the monitoring service Marine Traffic.

Amid Iran bombing, the number of vessels passing through the strait has decreased by approximately 70%.

Officially, Iran has not announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, but direct attacks on tankers and heightened security risks have sharply increased insurance costs and nearly halted traffic.

At least 150 tankers carrying oil and LNG are anchored outside the strait. This could affect up to 30% of global seaborne oil trade, as well as a significant share of LNG shipments.

How much do you think this will raise energy prices in your country?
