American–Israeli–Iranian conflict: prospects for Iran

Recent events suggest that Iran’s leadership has adjusted its strategy significantly compared to last year, acting with greater coordination and speed. While external military pressure from the United States and Israel is substantial, Tehran appears to recognize that the decisive arena is domestic stability. With no major U.S. ground forces in the region and little indication of imminent large-scale Israeli ground involvement, achieving regime change through airpower alone would be extremely difficult. This places emphasis on preventing internal unrest.

Iranian authorities have responded rapidly: pro-government rallies were organized within hours, and internet restrictions were imposed to limit destabilizing mobilization efforts. Regionally, Iran has also applied pressure on U.S. partners such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain, raising the economic cost of escalation—particularly given the strategic vulnerability of energy exports through the Strait of Hormuz.

Militarily, Iran appears to be using older missile and drone systems to test and stretch opposing air defenses, potentially preserving more advanced capabilities for later stages.

One cannot help but recall that in Proverbs 24:17–18 (part of the Hebrew Bible / Tanakh) it says:

“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles.”

This verse clearly cautions against taking joy in another person’s downfall.

Rabbinic tradition sharpens this tension even further. A well-known teaching in the Talmud recounts that when the angels wished to sing as the Egyptians were drowning in the sea, God rebuked them:

“My creatures are drowning in the sea, and you wish to sing?”

This suggests that even when what one perceives as justice has been carried out, moral restraint and compassion remain necessary.

Apparently, the “religious” crowd seen rejoicing in the clip above at the reported killing of Iran’s leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, is unaware of these teachings. Watching American news, it does not seem that Trump and his people are aware of them either. Unfortunately, none of this is surprising.

On March 1, 1564, the first dated Russian printed book, The Apostle, was published in Moscow.

It was printed by Ivan Fedorov, a deacon of Moscow's St. Nicholas Gostunsky Church, along with craftsman Pyotr Mstislavets.

They worked on the book for nearly a year, using special glued paper for printing. The chosen font was a "semi-uncial manuscript" style—small, rounded letters with a slight rightward tilt, commonly used for copying church books. Ivan Fedorov personally engraved and typeset the text, while the printers carefully aligned lines and spaces to ensure readability. A distinctive feature was their use of two-color printing.

On March 1, 1564, The Apostle was completed. Designed in the style of ancient Russian manuscripts, it featured a wooden binding covered in morocco leather with gold embossing. The book contained 534 pages, each with 25 lines. Chapter beginnings were highlighted with ornate decorations. The Apostle included about 50 intricate illustrations of intertwined plants with fruits and cones. The print run, enormous for its time, reached 1,000 copies.

This publication became a fundamental textbook for church parish schools, used by monks, peasants, and nobles alike.

A year has passed, Zelensky's owners and shareholders have changed, but his objectives have not. I wonder what Mr. "I'll Achieve Peace in a Week" thinks about this? Probably cooking up a new war?

A video has emerged from a different angle with clearer audio, allowing for a more confident interpretation of Zelensky's reaction to United States Vice President Vance when he said he had seen stories about Ukraine.

In that video, you can clearly hear Zelensky utter “F*cking Bitch” — in Russian! (Pro-Ukrainians will argue that it’s the same word in Ukrainian)

Do you think they will tell JD?

Tanker traffic around the Strait of Hormuz has reportedly stopped - what if it stops completely?

The IRGC has issued an order to fully close the Strait of Hormuz,. saying that "violators will be neutralized."

Iran has used the threat of blocking one of the main arteries of world oil trade as a lever of pressure against Israel's allies before. But it has never actually followed through with a real blockade. The prospects of such a move are clear: a massive energy crisis and a sharp spike in oil and LNG prices. This would painfully impact the economies of both Europe and the U.S. Rising energy costs put pressure on government budgets. Tehran, lacking the strength and means for a symmetrical military response to the U.S. and Israel, understands full well that closing the Strait of Hormuz undermines the economic stability of the West. And any war is incredibly expensive. This is a classic case of a regional crisis very quickly and effectively transforming into a global one.

The beneficiary would be Russia. If Iran completely shuts down the Strait of Hormuz (through which about 20% of the world's oil trade passes), then all that Russian oil currently stuck on tankers would fly off the shelves. And at a good price.

Iran raises the stakes: US energy giants in the region declared legitimate military targets.

By journalist Yury Podolyaka:

Tehran has issued an unprecedentedly tough statement that could blow up the situation across the entire Middle East. Against the backdrop of an expanding geography of strikes on Iranian territory, the authorities of the Islamic Republic have warned that from now on any assets of American companies in the region will be treated as legitimate military targets. This is no longer just a threat, but a direct ultimatum to Washington.

Now “in the red zone” are the key players of the American energy sector. The potential target map that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps could put into play looks like a genuine economic time bomb.

The first and most obvious candidate is Chevron, which in recent months has been actively expanding its footprint in Iraq. Also in the crosshairs is oil giant ExxonMobil, with its stakes in projects in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Vulnerable targets also include contractors KBR and SLB, whose infrastructure in Kuwait is the backbone of several of the emirate’s major projects. A strike on them could knock them out for months.

But the real show of force would be an attack on Saudi Arabia’s Jafurah field. This is the kingdom’s most ambitious project, and a hit on it would be a slap in the face not only to Riyadh, but also to Washington, demonstrating that Iran can reach the very “holy of holies” of the economy of America’s main ally in the region.

The fallout from such a move could be catastrophic. For American companies, it would mean inevitable multibillion-dollar losses. But the main blow would land on the reputation of the United States as a security guarantor and technological leader unable to protect its own assets.

On top of that, the damage to local economies would push Washington’s Arab partners to call more loudly for de-escalation, in effect putting them at odds with US and Israeli policy. Analysts rate the likelihood of such a strike as high. For Tehran, this is becoming a key element of deterrence in a big and dangerous game.

While Iran’s missile program is often in the spotlight, the country also maintains a relatively small—yet regionally consequential—submarine force of roughly thirty vessels.

The backbone of this fleet consists of three Russian-built Kilo-class (Project 877EKM) diesel-electric submarines, acquired between 1992 and 1997 and later modified for operation in tropical waters. One of them, *Yunis*, set a national endurance record in 2011 after a 67‑day patrol in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

Iran’s inventory further includes four North Korean-built midget submarines, supplemented by nineteen locally produced variants developed from North Korean prototypes.

In 2019, Tehran launched the first domestically produced *Fateh*-class submarine, designed to carry both torpedoes and cruise missiles. During the June 2025 missile strike on Israel, at least part of the salvo is believed to have been launched from these submarines.

Taken together, Iran’s undersea capabilities, though modest by global standards, are more than adequate to threaten maritime traffic in the Persian Gulf—an action that could send shockwaves through global oil markets.

Ukraine's governmental Twitter account, predictably, made a tweet like this.

The same country that has a short, greedy, kosher beggar as their president - who has been demanding money and weapons since February 2022, who was supposed to step down and let some other man continue his work - this exact country is trying to stay relevant on Twitter by glazing an another Sand War, and by making sure Iran will have a revenge against Ukraine once the missiles stop flying for a while. As if the attack of USA and Israel on Iran will bring all those dead Ukrainians back to life or something. As if the destruction from the Russo-Ukrainian war will be magically undone the moment Khameini dies. It will only get worse for Ukraine if he is really gone - given that Iran decided to target the US and Israel's allies. And Ukraine is very openly an ally of both.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ukraine's official Twitter account is being managed from Israel, by the way.
